Chapter 9 - Dungeon Boss Room

When Ryu heard a voice echoing in his head:

[Level Up]

[Strength +1 / Mana +1]

He felt an immense surge of energy flowing inside him, coursing through his veins like molten fire, penetrating his bones and waking him from within. His eyes widened slightly, and his fist clenched involuntarily as he felt his muscles tremble beneath his skin, as if they were responding to this sudden growth.

"Is this what it feels like when you level up?" he muttered under his breath, a faint smile spreading across his face.

His heart raced, and his eyes shone with excitement, a feeling he had never experienced before. "Looks like I'm going to get addicted to this feeling..." he said, gripping his axe handle with enthusiasm, then staring into the depths of the cave with glowing eyes.

"There are still 48 regular terrifying wolves inside."

Although his level had increased, he knew his limits, so he decided to continue hunting slowly, just as he had in the beginning.

Immediately, he stored the bodies of the two wolves in his storage ring, then hid again. But this time, he didn't hide randomly—he searched for the air current and hid against it, to avoid being detected by the wolves' keen sense of smell.

Soon, two more wolves appeared, and with the same method he used the first time, he killed them quickly, and his level rose by one.

Although Ryu had reached level three, he continued to use the same trick.

In this way, he managed to hunt down 16 level two terrifying wolves, bringing him to level five.

But after that, the trick no longer worked, as no more wolves appeared.

"Looks like these are all the terrifying wolves at the cave's edge... I need to go deeper."

Ryu knew that staying here at the cave's edge was useless, and he needed to speed up clearing this dungeon before someone from outside discovered him.

He took a deep breath, his eyes gleaming from behind his helmet like a predator entering the hunting grounds.

The smell of blood lingered in the air, thick and sharp, as if it pierced the nose and drove its fangs into the throat. Dark bloodstains still soaked the cave floor, seeping between the rocks, leaving traces of red on the edges of his axe.

A faint blue aura rose slowly around his body, slowly taking the shape of a lion roaring behind him, though he didn't notice, as he had entered a state of full focus on the hunt.

He gripped his axe tightly in his right hand, pressing his other arm, which held the giant shield in front of him, then advanced slowly, with measured and steady steps, like a hunter stalking his prey in the dark.

With each step, he heard the sound of blood cracking beneath his feet, and the echo of drops falling from the axe whispered through the cave like the harbinger of death.

---

Deep inside the cave, where only the sound of water dripping from the rocky ceiling could be heard, Ryu stood in the shadows, watching with the eyes of a hungry hunter, his pupils widening in the darkness as if they devoured every movement.

His soft voice broke the silence... silent footsteps, panting breaths, and a low growl tore the stillness like a dagger, then they appeared—three terrifying wolves, larger than any he had faced before, their fur gleaming with a damp shine, and their red eyes glowing with ferocity in the dark.

[Name: Terrifying Wolf

Grade: Regular

Level: 4

Attributes: Wolves live in packs, so they are often found in pairs or more.

Skills: Claw attack, bite

Weaknesses: Powerful sense of smell helps them track prey, but it's also a weakness, as too many smells cause pressure on their brains.]

Ryu hid behind a moss-covered rock, then activated "True Sight," which glowed faintly in blue on his helmet.

Although their level was lower, their numbers and coordination posed a threat... the plan hadn't changed.

He gripped his axe's handle tightly, his veins bulging from his hand, and his knee bent slightly, as his entire body prepared to pounce. The air around him was thick with the smell of mold and blood.

Then...

He sprang like a shadow. His steps were silent, his breaths measured, and his muscles tensed.

With the first wolf, he struck like a flash of lightning, spinning his body in a quick half-circle, releasing a sharp exhale, then aimed his axe at the wolf's neck from the side— a clean, swift strike that cut through the skin, tore the muscles, and shattered the bone.

The smell of blood flowed like a foul perfume, lingering in Ryu's nose and stirring something primal inside him… the wolf fell silently, its body trembling in its final moments. The ground turned into a red carpet, and blood misted into the air like dark fog, some of it splattering to stain Ryu's solid shield.

The howl of the other two wolves came as a scream of vengeance, and one of them lunged from behind. Ryu spun quickly like lightning, raising his shield with force until the wolf collided with it with a harsh metallic clang, staggering back as it growled.

Ryu screamed internally, the madness of battle taking over him, his muscles quivering with excitement, and his eyes gleaming with an inhuman glow.

He swung his axe with full force, aiming at the wolf, but the beast sensed the danger and retreated with a sudden movement.
