Chapter 2: The Headphones Mystery
The next morning, Rae stood by her locker, quietly humming a soft tune from her playlist. She didn't realize she was swaying slightly to the beat until someone tapped her shoulder.
"Yo, Rae. You've been on another planet again," said Yuna, her best friend since primary school, with a teasing grin.
Rae chuckled. "Sorry, the music just… speaks."
As they walked to class, Rae clutched her worn-out headphones tightly in her hand. They were her comfort zone. She had a rule: never lend them, never lose them, and never leave without them. But the day had other plans.
During the lunch break, she went to the music room to practice guitar. But when she reached into her bag—her headphones were gone.
Panic surged. She emptied her bag twice. Nothing.
She raced through the corridors, retracing her steps, until she turned a corner and nearly bumped into someone—Liam, the quiet, tall guy from Class B. He held something in his hand.
Her headphones.
"You dropped these in the hallway earlier," he said, voice calm but eyes avoiding hers.
Rae blinked. "Oh—thank you. I was seriously freaking out…"
He scratched his neck and gave a tiny smile. "I noticed a song was still playing… It's a good one."
"What song?" she asked curiously.
He hesitated. "Yours... by Raiden and Chanyeol."
Her eyes widened. That was the exact song she'd played that morning.
"Wait—you knew that?"
"I, uh… might've heard it before," Liam said, half-shy, half-mischievous. "You've got good taste."
For a second, Rae didn't know what to say. Her music—her bubble—had been noticed. And by someone like Liam.
From that day on, her playlist wasn't hers alone anymore. And maybe, just maybe, she didn't mind sharing it.
