The horses halted at the grand courtyard of Landis Palace. Fallen leaves blanketed the cobblestones, whispering beneath the hooves as Cecilia stepped down from the carriage, assisted by Robert. Fiona followed closely behind, draping a cape over the princess's shoulders to protect her from the biting autumn wind.
The towering palace loomed before them. Cecilia's gaze lingered on the grand entrance. The palace that once radiated strength now looked weary, stripped of its old power.
"Your Highness... are you certain you want to go in alone?"
Cecilia blinked, pulled from her daze by Robert's worried voice. Ever since regaining his memories, she could sense how Robert's hatred toward Damian had only deepened. He had never liked Cedric either, but that dislike was nothing compared to the contempt he held for Damian.
Cecilia exhaled softly. A faint smile curved her lips as she tried to ease the growing tension in Robert's eyes.
