**An Unfinished Life—Audiomachine**
SERPENTINE'S POV
The night before had been quite the revealing nightmare. But Serpentine had been forced to quickly learn one thing—that maybe, just maybe, adopting Ember as her daughter's replacement had been a mistake.
She had a lot of options she could have explored to repay the life saving debt she owed Valata AshFall—she could have sent Ember somewhere faraway where she could have lived a mundane life . A place where she could have had her own family—a husband, her own kids. Blissfully oblivious to the harshness and politicking she was experiencing now.
Instead, she adopted. Plunging her into the very game that took her daughter out of the ring before the first play was made.
Did she feel pity for Ember? A feeling of regret perhaps? Truthfully, no. But what Serpentine did feel was rage. And with each second that passed last night without Ember being found, that rage swelled up until it coalesced into something unrecognisable.
