Ember hugged Khaos hard. Arms across his neck with an unflinching grip as she sank into him.
Even though his body stiffened at the contact like a bow strung too hard, she still managed to draw warmth from him as all the events of that horrific night threatened to cause her collapse.
She didn't know what she was doing, she just knew that she needed to hold onto something… someone. And at any time, any day, she would gladly assign that role to Khaos BlueBlood.
The words he meant to say seemed to get stuck in his throat, but as a few seconds passed, he gradually relaxed under her hold. Then his hand snakes behind her, patting her back hesitantly as though he wasn't quite sure what to do with her… as though he was afraid she would break.
It wasn't until then that Ember realized that his flamboyant coat was soaked in her tears. Tears she didn't know when they started rolling down.
