Ember looked around her, the fact that they were already way out of Thalor's territory dawning on her.
Even quickly crept in with a dizzying kind of darkness, and with its descent, any easiness she possessed evaporated enough for her to understand she was in danger.
She wanted to believe that rescue was on its way—but following the events at the Nirvana, she wasn't so sure about that. Perhaps the Queen was still occupied with chasing the trails of Elara's death to notice that she was missing. Maybe the guards and Aeron hadn't even had the chance to recover from the attack nor look for her.
As for Khaos, she would be better off expecting the devil to save her than to expect it of him . Not that he was callous or anything—nor that she expected anything of him in the first place—but because his goals were clear.
