"An energy shield? Awesome—this is seriously awesome!"Peter Parker immediately cried out in excitement.
Everyone else present also lit up.
This energy shield, like Ava's antigravity technology from earlier, was a revolutionary breakthrough far beyond the current era—one that could allow armor to achieve a true leap in performance.
No wonder Tony Stark was so excited.
Although everyone already knew that the future Iron Man could manifest an energy shield—something shown in the footage when the Hulk snapped his fingers—that shield had only looked like a simple energy barrier.
An energy barrier was fundamentally different from an energy field.
A "field" was a basic concept. Anyone with basic education understood things like gravitational fields, magnetic fields, and so on—these were all fundamental energy fields.
So aside from Thor, everyone present could clearly understand what Tony Stark meant by an energy-field shield.
Simply put, it was a force that enveloped a certain area!
How could a mere energy barrier be compared to that?
Holtzman, six-six-six!
"This really is an excellent piece of technology," Doctor Strange said, nodding approvingly.
"Of course it is. And it's not just for armor—it can be used on people too," Tony Stark added.
That single sentence completely captured everyone's interest.
"Stark, you're saying it can be used on people? Yeah, that makes sense. If you turned this into body armor, the effect would be incredible," Scott Lang said thoughtfully. He felt this idea had real potential.
Current body armor on the market relied entirely on physical blocking, which inherently came with huge flaws.
The head and legs couldn't be protected—that was unavoidable.
If someone got shot in the head, wearing a hundred bulletproof vests wouldn't help.
And even when the chest or abdomen was protected, injuries were still inevitable—the impact force of bullets was no joke.
Broken ribs were entirely possible.
Energy-field protection, however, could completely avoid these problems.
"The only question is how complicated it is," Scott Lang muttered again. "If it's used in body armor, will it increase the weight? Body armor is already heavy enough…"
"Who said anything about using it in body armor?" Tony Stark interrupted him outright. "Body armor? That thing's already outdated. One 'Holtzman bracelet' would do the job."
"Stark, you mean this tech could be turned into a bracelet and that's enough?" Captain America's eyes lit up—even he couldn't stay calm.
If something like this were actually realized, it would be the most flawless bulletproof solution in the world.
Not only would its weight be negligible, its protection would be more comprehensive, and it wouldn't hinder a soldier's movement at all.
Perfect.
"Of course. In another parallel world, this was achieved a long time ago," Tony Stark said solemnly.
That made Captain America even more excited. This reward Tony Stark had obtained carried enormous significance.
"But there is one thing," Tony Stark suddenly changed tone and added, "this energy shield can only block high-speed attacks. It can't block low-speed attacks."
That one sentence left everyone confused.
"In other words, it can block bullets, laser fire, arrows, and similar attacks—but it can't block punches or close-range knife attacks."
"Of course, if the punch or strike is fast enough—like T'Challa's Wing Chun—then it can still be blocked."
"But for most people, the speed of their punches or knife attacks counts as 'low-speed.'"
Without waiting for questions, Tony Stark explained everything himself.
The crowd felt a bit speechless.
This energy shield was weird—powerful attacks could be blocked, but weaker ones couldn't!
Still, for everyone present, this tiny "flaw" was basically irrelevant. In close combat, they didn't rely on this kind of defense anyway.
As long as it could block those "high-speed" attacks, it was more than enough.

As everyone was discussing, the system's notification suddenly sounded, interrupting their thoughts.
They immediately stopped talking and turned their attention to the large screen.
"When I returned from the Blip, the family living in my apartment was completely confused."
A woman's voice rang out. On the screen stood Aunt May—beautiful and elegant—on a stage in a large hall, giving a speech.
Beside her stood Peter Parker.
Or rather—Spider-Man.
"What?"
Peter Parker, watching the screen, was a little stunned.
Why was Spider-Man standing next to Aunt May?
Did she already know his identity?
No way, right?
Aunt May shouldn't know yet.
"The wife thought I was a mistress, the grandma thought I was a ghost. The whole scene was total chaos," Aunt May continued, speaking calmly to the audience. "Thank you all for helping those displaced by the Blip—and of course, thanks to our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!"
Clap clap clap!
Thunderous applause erupted from the audience.
Spider-Man walked stiffly to the microphone, his voice a little nervous."Thank you, Ms. Parker, for inviting me. And thank you all for inviting me."
"Alright, thank you, Spider-Man. He'll be taking photos with everyone later. Thank you all!"
Aunt May took the microphone back and wrapped things up.
The two then retreated backstage.
"That was amazing!""Super successful!""That was so cool—I was nervous as hell! Sorry, I felt kind of stiff and off.""No, I think you did great.""Really? Though yeah, you were definitely a bit stiff."
Backstage, Spider-Man removed his helmet. He and Aunt May chatted excitedly.
"What the heck? Aunt May really knows my identity?"Peter Parker's eyes widened as he rubbed his head hard. "What happened? I actually told Aunt May who I am? Oh my God, how did future me pull that off?"
"Peter, does your Aunt May not know you're Spider-Man yet?" Scott Lang asked in surprise.
"Of course not! Besides you guys, no one knows my identity!" Peter Parker said matter-of-factly.
"Why?" Scott Lang shrugged. "Why hide it? What's the point? Isn't Aunt May your only family?"
"No way! If Aunt May finds out, she'll freak out!" Peter Parker shook his head frantically. "And if Aunt May freaks out, I'll freak out!"
"Did you bring your passport?""Yes!""Travel-size toothpaste?""Bought it."
On the screen, Aunt May and Peter Parker were still talking.
Then someone arrived. Hearing the noise, Peter Parker immediately put his helmet back on.
"Sorry I'm late."
A man squeezed in through the door holding a sign.
Everyone recognized him—it was Happy, Tony Stark's friend and subordinate.
"Happy!"Peter Parker greeted him.
"Hey!"Aunt May greeted him as well.
"Hey, you look great today.""Thanks—you too.""Thanks. New dress?""Yes. New dress. And you… new beard?""Yeah, my Blip beard. Grew it during the Blip.""Got it!"
Happy completely ignored Peter Parker and instead started flirting with Aunt May.
Anyone could tell—something was definitely going on.
Disaster. Happy and Aunt May… actually had something going on!
This caught Peter Parker completely off guard.
"Happy's flirting with your Aunt May, Peter," Thor said with a wicked grin. "Looks like they like each other. In the future, you might become family with Stark."
"Thor, nothing's confirmed yet," Peter Parker said helplessly.
"By the way, the reason I'm late is because I couldn't find this in the office," Happy said on screen, lifting the sign. "Can you believe it? It's huge—size, not amount, though the amount is pretty big too. They paid generously. Pepper says she's sorry she couldn't make it."
"Really? I need to go swap the alcohol for the vegan lasagna," Aunt May said, saying goodbye to Happy as she turned to leave. She didn't forget to remind Peter Parker, "Spider-Man, time to shake hands."
"Yes, ma'am!"Spider-Man responded, then stared straight at Happy. "What was that just now?"
"Listen carefully. Nick Fury is going to call you," Happy said seriously.
"Nick Fury is going to call me?" Peter Parker was shocked.
"Yes.""Why?""Because he wants you to do some hero work. You're a superhero—and he manages superheroes.""I mean, if something really big happened, wouldn't he call someone else? Why me?"
Bzzzz—bzzzz!
As they spoke, Peter Parker's phone started vibrating in his backpack.
He took it out. Unknown caller.
"See? Unknown number. That's him," Happy said.
"I don't want to talk to Nick Fury," Peter Parker said, refusing to answer.
"Answer the phone!""Why?""Because if you don't talk to him, I'll have to—and I don't want to talk to him!""Why not?""Because I'm scared! Just answer it!"
But Peter Parker still didn't listen. Right in front of Happy, he hung up on Nick Fury.
"You rejected Nick Fury's call?" Happy was visibly shaken, as if this were a huge deal.
"Yes!""You can't reject Nick Fury! You need to talk to him! You can't block Nick Fury!""I'll call him back, I promise. But I have to go now—they're calling me!"
Peter Parker didn't argue further. He shook Happy off and walked up to the stage.
At this point, he put his helmet back on, fully sealed himself in, and once again became Spider-Man.
Click! Click! Click!
Flash after flash went off. Reporters swarmed him, microphones and cameras thrust forward.
"One question at a time, okay?"
It was obvious Spider-Man wasn't used to this situation. He was flustered.
"Are you the leader of the Avengers now?" a female reporter asked.
"No, I'm not."
"If aliens invade again, what will you do?"
Spider-Man froze, not knowing how to answer.
"Does anyone have questions related to the community?" he tried to narrow the scope.
"I'm Sean Winford from the Queens Forum," another reporter said seriously. "What does it feel like to inherit Tony Stark's legacy? This position carries enormous expectations!"
At the mention of Tony Stark, Spider-Man's focus wavered. He was clearly struck at a painful spot.
"Sorry, I have to go. Thank you all for coming!"
He hurriedly said this and shot away using his webbing.
Whoosh!
In the next moment, Spider-Man flipped onto a rooftop, steadying his emotions and breathing in fresh air.
But with an inadvertent glance, he saw a massive Iron Man poster on a nearby wall.
Looking at the poster, Spider-Man's defenses completely broke. His eyes instantly turned red.
The image froze there.
From another angle, this footage perfectly illustrated how the public viewed Spider-Man.
The fact that reporters openly asked about inheriting Iron Man's legacy showed that this was common public perception—people genuinely believed Spider-Man was Tony Stark's successor.
And reporters… everyone understood how that worked. No further explanation was needed.
What truly intrigued everyone, however, was another topic.
"'The Blip'?"Captain America spoke first, frowning thoughtfully. "What does that mean? From the footage, it seems many people experienced it."
"That's right. Aunt May and Happy both went through the Blip," Thor nodded. "Sounds like a major event."
"Aunt May said when she came back from the Blip, she was mistaken for a mistress… and a ghost," Doctor Strange said. "I think… we can draw some conclusions from that."
