Three figures zipped through the sky above the city.
One of them was clad in silver-white, gleaming machine armor, continuously firing beams of light at the figures ahead.
The people in front began to dodge in all sorts of fancy ways, and though it was perilous, they managed to evade all of the armor's attacks.
This aerial battle was incredibly exciting and thrilling, completely shattering everyone's worldview.
On the highways and in office buildings, countless people watched in awe and took photos.
Fortunately, Iron Man considered that this was a bustling area of New York, and tried to avoid flying in places with dense buildings. Otherwise, New York would definitely be in a state of chaos by now.
"Stark, the base evacuation is complete!"
Finally, Nick Fury's voice crackled over Iron Man's comms. He perked up, wasting no time and heading towards the Dark Energy Joint Base.
Not long after.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Several figures slammed hard into the base's entrance.
"Captain, Thor, the Destroyer is yours for now. The T1000 will assist you!" Iron Man told them. "You absolutely must hold him off until I'm done!"
"Stark, do what you need to do!" Captain America said seriously to Iron Man.
Iron Man didn't waste any time and flew into the base.
CLANG! The Destroyer fell from the sky as well, crashing to the ground like a meteor and shaking the entire base.
Captain America didn't say a word, heaved his hammer, and charged towards the Destroyer, bringing it down with a heavy blow.
The T1000, now clad in Iron Man's armor, did the same. He completely took Iron Man's place, coordinating with Captain America to flank the Destroyer.
Thor, stripped of his divine power, still served the same purpose as before: a living target, drawing the Destroyer's attention.
The three of them managed to hold the Destroyer at bay for the time being.
Meanwhile, Iron Man himself had made his way deep into the Dark Energy Joint Base, reaching a top-secret laboratory.
Inside, it was filled with incredibly complex and precise, high-tech equipment.
At the center of the equipment, there was a sky-blue cube, faintly shimmering: the Tesseract!
That's right, Iron Man's plan this time was to use the Tesseract to open a portal and send the Destroyer away!
After the round of questions about rescuing Captain America, Iron Man and Nick Fury began some necessary cooperation.

Soon, Iron Man flew to the battlefield and saw the intense battle still raging, with nearly half of the Dark Energy Joint Base destroyed.
"Alright everyone, let's get this show on the road and take down this big guy!"
Iron Man said enthusiastically, then gave Jarvis an order, "Jarvis, deploy the Concealment Smoke."

Various locations within the base began spewing out large amounts of white smoke, immediately obscuring everyone's vision.

"Looks like the war is over, Director," Black Widow said to Nick Fury, noticing the silence.
Nick Fury nodded, but his usual caution made him take out his gun and keep a lookout.
Then, he asked in the communication channel, "Stark, Captain, I'm here. Give me some good news."
"Nick Fury, Stark's plan worked. We sent the Destroyer away," Captain America's voice immediately responded in the communication channel.
Both Nick Fury and Black Widow couldn't help but breathe a long sigh of relief.
They wasted no time and went straight to the laboratory deep inside the base. They found Tony Stark chatting casually with Thor and the others, the atmosphere relaxed.
"Stark, are you still against researching the Tesseract?" Nick Fury sat down in front of them, his single eye gleaming with intelligence, and looked at Stark.
If it weren't for his insistence on researching the Tesseract in the first place, they wouldn't have been able to deal with the Destroyer.
"Nick Fury, this is still a dangerous thing. I still think we should have left the Tesseract in the ocean in the first place."
Captain America always disagreed with this kind of thing.
