Chapter 3 - #3 Confirming the World

Although Tang Ze had already thought about it, he needed his guess to be accurate beforehand. His predecessor had focused so much on preparing for the police entrance exam during college that he didn't pay much attention to the world around him. Apart from studying for the entrance exam, he had been involved in the club and training in kendo, which kept him physically fit.

Given the chaotic nature of this year, his predecessor had made it through without any early mishaps, and Tang Ze had inherited a fairly strong physical condition. Tang Ze himself was easygoing and popular, but he mostly kept to his own affairs, making it difficult for him to judge the intelligence of this world based on his memories alone.

After taking some time to calm down, Tang Ze decided that his main priority was to figure out whether this world was really *Detective Conan's* world. Since he didn't have a good way to investigate actively, he decided to wait and see what unfolded.

He could buy a newspaper to read, but none had been published in the past few days, so he had already gone through a colleague's copy. With his "drum-washing machine" physique, he wouldn't have to wait too long for things to develop.

Sighing, Tang Ze felt a bit unreal. He had unexpectedly crossed into the world of his past-life anime. Luckily, since he was studying at Police University, his internship lined up perfectly for this crossover. If it had happened in the middle of the internship, he would've had to focus more on maintaining his predecessor's habits and behavior for a longer time.

By the way, he needed to explain why Police University still existed after graduating from Dongda University. Unlike regular schools, police universities in Neon don't grant academic diplomas; they are more like training centers for police officers. The police schools serve as study bases after entering the force, unlike traditional schools.

Tang Ze had been in the office for a few days now, slowly getting familiar with the Metropolitan Police Department's environment. In addition to confirming the situation of this world, he had started making plans for his future. His predecessor's plan was simple: after entering university, follow the steps and work his way up to a middle or high-ranking position in the department, which would have been a good outcome. However, Tang Ze had a much broader vision.

He didn't want to rely solely on a police salary. While getting familiar with his surroundings, he also explored businesses. However, the companies he knew from his previous life didn't exist, or they had different names and trajectories. There was no point in investing in stocks right now, and Tang Ze had no desire to start a business.

Since he wasn't familiar with the Neon market and the economy was still in recession, he couldn't start a business without risking failure. He knew that even with the knowledge of his past life, he wouldn't stand a chance against the powerful business families that controlled the economy.

Instead, he decided that his best bet was to focus on his career in the police force. If this world truly was the world of *Detective Conan*, he could use his knowledge of the story to his advantage, helping influential people and befriending powerful figures, like the chaebols. Even if he couldn't do business due to his job, his family had a hot spring business, which he could use, or he could use his future wife's connections.

But the key to all of this depended on confirming whether this world was really the world of *Detective Conan*.

Mikako Sato was on vacation that day, and Shiratori and Takagi had already identified the suspects in a recent "robber murder" case. They were preparing to make arrests, and Tang Ze didn't feel the need to get involved since the two officers had been working hard on it. He stayed at the Metropolitan Police Department with Officer Megure, helping with administrative tasks.

Later that evening, Tang Ze invited Officer Megure to a nearby izakaya to thank him for his support over the past few days. Officer Megure graciously accepted the invitation, and after the meal, he thanked Tang Ze. As they were about to leave, their walkie-talkies crackled with an urgent message: a murder had been reported at a high-end apartment near Anle Town.

Officer Megure immediately responded, and the two hurried back to the police department, then took a car to the scene. When they arrived, a crowd had already gathered around the apartment building. Inside, they found a man's body in a pool of blood with a knife stuck in his back. Although Tang Ze felt uncomfortable seeing the body, he quickly adjusted.

He took notes on the situation and reported it to Officer Megure. According to Yoko Okino, the victim had been killed before she arrived home and opened the door.

Officer Megure turned to the other man in the room. "So the detective with her at the time was..."

"Hehe!" The man with the mustache introduced himself. "It's me, Kogoro Mouri! Officer Megure!"

As Tang Ze looked at the boy with glasses standing next to Kogoro Mouri, he suddenly realized—this was truly *Detective Conan's* world!
