Chapter 5 - Norman Territorial Zoning

ZN-01 – The Swamp of Dorrin A decaying wetland bordering a mangrove system. Located in the southeast basin near an extinct volcanic lake. The mist never lifts, even during dry season.

ZN-02 – Karru Pine Forest A dense, eucalyptus-dominated woodland in the central uplands. Locals report sudden silence and sightings of red eyes between the trees.

ZN-03 – Rauthen Rock Plateau A highland of eroded limestone and oddly aligned boulders. Seismographs detect minor quakes weekly, but the tectonic plates show no movement.

ZN-04 – Hollowglass Sinkholes This region is riddled with deep sinkholes that reflect light unnaturally. A geological team vanished here in 1997. Only their rope was recovered.

ZN-05 – Windspire Cliffs Vertical cliffs facing the Southern Ocean. Wind speeds can reach 130 km/h. Explorers have reported hearing their own names whispered by the wind.

ZN-06 – Ashmoor Heathlands A flat, fire-scorched expanse once used for NOR drills. Now, smoke-like vapors emerge from cracks in the ground without any source of heat.

ZN-07 – The Still Valley Located between two mountain ridges. No wind, no animal movement. Radio and sonar signals get swallowed mid-transmission.

ZN-08 – Camp Kellin A NOR forward base long abandoned. Files suggest a containment breach in 2003. Equipment is intact but covered in salt, despite no nearby sea.

ZN-09 – Bellgrove Hamlet Ruins of a small colonial village. Church bells still ring at sundown despite being rusted through. No human remains ever found.

ZN-10 – The Scree of Echoes A long field of shattered shale rocks. Acoustic anomalies mimic voices from decades ago. Sometimes in languages not native to the region.

ZN-11 – Caerlow Caverns Volcanic lava tubes extending miles underground. Cave explorers report losing track of time or emerging in unexpected sectors.

ZN-12 – Lake Mournveil A remote alpine lake turns blood-red during full moons. The water is non-toxic but emits pheromonal signals picked up by animals.

ZN-13 – Wraithbone Fields Tall grasslands littered with unmarked bones. Soil is abnormally alkaline. No signs of scavengers ever touch the remains.

ZN-14 – NOR Facility #09 (Quarantined) The remains of a sealed blacksite lab. Satellite imagery shows building shifts in layout monthly. No authorized entry since ██/██/2011.

ZN-15 – The Coil Paths Winding trails that distort navigation tools. Compasses spin wildly. The sun is often seen setting in the east.

ZN-16 – Braes Hollow Tower A derelict 19th-century watchtower. No visible access point exists, yet lights are seen within. Locals avoid the area.

ZN-17 – Invercane Grove Located on high elevation with inverted environmental patterns. Trees grow bark first, then leaves. Time-lapse cameras degrade rapidly.

ZN-18 – Corridor South An old military installation corridor found beneath NOR ruins. Estimated to stretch 4.2 km, though only 1.1 km is explorable.

ZN-19 – Deadfield Array A wide open grassland where birds refuse to fly overhead. Signal interference is constant. Geiger counters read zero, yet magnetometers spike.

ZN-20 – The Hollow Core Believed to be the geographic center of Norman. Unmapped terrain. Hostile electromagnetic field. Many NOR expeditions end in radio silence.
