A knock sounded at the door.
"Come in," Sasame said, looking up.
The door opened, and Jiraiya walked in. He was still dressed in his classic red overcoat and brown clothes. He wore a forehead protector with the kanji for "oil." To be honest, from his forehead protector alone, it was clear that Mount Myōboku's influence on him was greater than Konoha Village's.
Jiraiya looked at Sasame with complex emotions. They had only met a few times. His understanding of Sasame was all from Tsunade. He had thought he was the Child of Prophecy, but he turned out to be the Child of Destruction. Jiraiya was born in Konoha Village. But the turning point of his life was his accidental journey to Mount Myōboku. It was there that he gained Sage Mode and the help of the toad clan, which allowed him to build his great reputation in the ninja world. In return, he had spent his entire life working for the Great Sage Toad's prophecy.
If Sasame wasn't the Hokage, Jiraiya would have already made his move. But unfortunately, he was. Not only that, but he was a good Hokage. This made it impossible for Jiraiya to act. Even if he could win, it would still be difficult. Not to mention, he couldn't win now.
"Hokage-sama," Jiraiya sighed, pushing aside his chaotic thoughts, and greeted him.
"Lord Jiraiya, it's been a while," Sasame said, maintaining his usual attitude. "What can I do for you today?"
"I heard that Naruto has returned to Konoha?" Jiraiya asked, as if he knew nothing about the destruction of Mount Myōboku.
"Yes, he just got back," Sasame wasn't surprised by his fast intelligence. As one of the Sannin, he had too many connections in Konoha Village. And Hiruzen Sarutobi was still alive. It was normal for him to know Naruto Uzumaki's whereabouts.
"Naruto is Minato's son," Jiraiya's face showed a look of sorrow. "I'm sorry for Minato's sacrifice." He was not in Konoha Village during the Nine-Tails' attack. Tsunade was also absent. This indirectly led to the deaths of Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki.
"Life is full of unpredictability," Sasame shook his head. "No one could have foreseen such a thing." Jiraiya was slightly taken aback. He had thought Sasame's attitude would change because of Mount Myōboku. But his words were comforting. If not for Mount Myōboku, Sasame would probably be a good Hokage.
"Minato was my student, and I feel I failed him," Jiraiya said, recovering. "I have some free time now, and I want to teach Naruto a few things."
"You can," Sasame agreed readily. Jiraiya looked at him, surprised. It was that easy? He had even sought Tsunade's help to get permission to take Naruto Uzumaki as a student. But she had refused. It was only after Naruto Uzumaki returned that Jiraiya nervously went to see Sasame. But he hadn't expected to encounter no resistance at all. Why was he so easy? Was he really a good Hokage who thought for Konoha Village? If that was the case, what was his reason for destroying Mount Myōboku? At this moment, Jiraiya had the urge to ask him. But he stopped. Because it was meaningless. Mount Myōboku could not be revived.
"Then I'll go see Naruto now," Jiraiya turned to leave impatiently, as if afraid Sasame would change his mind. The door closed.
Sasame stroked his chin. The reason he was so agreeable was that Jiraiya couldn't teach Naruto Uzumaki anything, and he trusted Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki. Those two had been kept alive for so long all thanks to Sasame. And they were the kind of people who would repay kindness. Minato Namikaze might favor Jiraiya. But it was hard to say for Kushina Uzumaki and Naruto Uzumaki. Because Jiraiya was late. Sasame had already built a good relationship with them. Unless he betrayed Konoha, it was impossible for Jiraiya to replace him and influence Naruto Uzumaki.
Ichiraku Ramen.
Naruto Uzumaki returned to Konoha Village and immediately came here.
"Teuchi-san! One extra-large char siu and pork rib ramen!"
"Yo, Naruto, I haven't seen you in almost a month, have I?" Teuchi immediately smiled. "I thought you didn't like ramen anymore."
"How could that be?" Naruto Uzumaki quickly expressed his love for ramen. "I can eat your ramen for the rest of my life!"
"That's good," Teuchi's smile became even brighter.
"I haven't been here because I was on a mission," Naruto Uzumaki said proudly. "I'm the Hokage's student now. I'm a very busy person."
"Congratulations," Teuchi said with some emotion. Naruto Uzumaki used to be despised by everyone. But after Sasame became Hokage, the situation completely reversed. He became the son of a hero and the Hokage's student. His future was bright.
Not long after, the char siu and pork rib ramen was served. Just then, a pair of large hands appeared. Their target was the ramen in front of Naruto Uzumaki.
"Hey, old man, that's mine!" In his daze, the ramen was snatched away. Naruto Uzumaki was a little displeased. "I'm a frog sage," Jiraiya said, picking up his chopsticks. "Do you know who I am?"
"How can an adult steal a child's ramen?" Naruto Uzumaki's smile faltered, but out of respect for his elders, he didn't try to take it back.
"Naruto, that's Sensei Jiraiya," Minato Namikaze quickly said.
"That's a perverted old man. Don't learn from him," Kushina Uzumaki's voice rang out. Jiraiya was not a bad person. But he was a peeping tom, a girl chaser, and an author of smut. Every one of them was a landmine. As a mother, Kushina Uzumaki would never want Naruto Uzumaki to turn out like Jiraiya.
"Kushina," Minato Namikaze coughed. "Sensei isn't that bad." Kushina Uzumaki snorted but said no more. She was giving Minato Namikaze some face.
Naruto Uzumaki was a little confused. He knew about Jiraiya. Minato Namikaze had told him. Many people in Konoha Village had also talked about him. He was one of the legendary Sannin, and he was very powerful. But he was a little disappointed today. He even stole his ramen. In the original story, he often tricked him out of money for his "research."
"Brat, why aren't you speaking?" Jiraiya had already taken two bites of ramen. He couldn't help but reveal his identity. "I am Jiraiya, the Toad Sage, one of the three Sannin, invincible under the heavens, the handsome man who can make a crying child stop. Do you know me?"
"..." Naruto Uzumaki's mind went completely blank. What kind of introduction was that?Invincible? Can you beat Teacher Sasame? As for "handsome man," that went without saying. He was definitely not as handsome as Teacher Sasame. Naruto Uzumaki complained inwardly. But he had been raised by Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki all these years. So he didn't get angry.
"Old man, what do you want with me?" Naruto Uzumaki said, then had Teuchi make him another bowl of ramen. Jiraiya's eyes showed appreciation. Not bad.He was raised so well, yet he still maintained good manners. As expected of Minato's son.
"Brat, I didn't just steal your ramen for nothing," Jiraiya said with a smile. "How about you become my student?"
"I already have a teacher," Naruto Uzumaki shook his head, politely refusing. Sasame was a little lazy with missions, but he was very good to him. Especially since he gave him a chance to be with his parents. Even if Jiraiya was Minato Namikaze's teacher and famous, he wouldn't become his student.
"I just came from the Hokage's Office. Your teacher Sasame already agreed," Jiraiya said, tapping the bowl with his chopsticks. "I can teach you many things." Naruto Uzumaki was slightly startled. Teacher Sasame agreed? He hesitated for a moment. "What can you teach me?" he asked.
"So many things!" Jiraiya said proudly. "Let's eat first. After we're done, I'll take you to the training ground and show you something." Naruto Uzumaki nodded. Out of respect for Sasame and Minato Namikaze, he decided to go and take a look. If he could really learn something, becoming his student was an option.
Training Ground 0. Jiraiya and Naruto Uzumaki finished their ramen and arrived.
"Naruto, how old are you?"
"Eleven," Naruto Uzumaki was confused. "What does my age have to do with anything?"
"I'm going to teach you an advanced ninjutsu," Jiraiya said with a smile. "I'm just worried that you're too young to control your chakra."
"Old man, don't look down on me!" Naruto Uzumaki waved his fist.
"Not bad, you're full of energy," Jiraiya chuckled. "I'm going to teach you a ninjutsu called the Rasengan. It was created by your father, Minato Namikaze."
"The Rasengan?" Naruto Uzumaki's face looked strange.
"What's with that expression?" Jiraiya thought he was looking down on the ninjutsu. "Although the name is simple, its power is great. It's an A-rank ninjutsu. And it has infinite potential. You can even develop new versions of it later on."
"Are you talking about this?" Naruto Uzumaki reached out his hand, and chakra quickly spun and compressed, forming a blue sphere.
"You... how do you know how to do that?!" Jiraiya stared at the Rasengan in his hand, dumbfounded. The Rasengan was created by Minato Namikaze, who taught it to him. Konoha Village had no backup copy. In other words, only two people knew how to do it in this world.
"My dad taught me," Naruto Uzumaki said without hiding anything.
"Your dad is..." Jiraiya paused. He wanted to say, Your dad is dead. How could he teach you? But then he thought, with Minato Namikaze's intelligence, it wouldn't be surprising if he left some kind of contingency. Okay, no problem. If he couldn't teach him the Rasengan, he could teach him other things.
Unfortunately, Sasame had already had Naruto Uzumaki sign a contract with Ryūchi Cave and cultivate Sage Mode. Jiraiya thought for a moment and asked, "Do you know about the Nine-Tails?"
"Yes," Naruto Uzumaki looked down at his abdomen. "The Nine-Tails is inside me." Did Sasame tell him? Jiraiya was a little surprised. He had thought he would only be told the truth after he grew up in a few years. But it was fine. It saved him the trouble of explaining.
"The Nine-Tails is very powerful," Jiraiya said with a smile. "And you, as a jinchuriki, can control its power. I can teach you how."
"..." Naruto Uzumaki didn't know what to say.
"You... you know that too?" Jiraiya noticed the same expression on his face again and asked. Naruto Uzumaki clapped his hands together, and golden chakra spread out. An indescribable aura, like a hurricane, rushed towards him.
What is this? Jiraiya stared blankly. It was the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode. In the original story, Naruto Uzumaki learned it with Killer B's help and guidance. In other words, Konoha Village had no knowledge of it. Jiraiya had naturally never seen it before. The "method of controlling the Nine-Tails' chakra" he intended to teach Naruto Uzumaki was actually the most basic half-Tailed Beast transformation. Jiraiya was frozen in place. Naruto Uzumaki had already mastered a more advanced version. From this aura, his strength was definitely extraordinary. An ordinary ninja would be no match for him. If he added Sage Mode from Ryūchi Cave, Jiraiya felt he might not even be able to beat him.
What should he do now? Jiraiya frowned, but he still didn't give up. He quickly came up with another reason.
"Naruto, your strength is good, but you're too young, and you lack experience," Jiraiya patted his chest. "I have gone through hundreds of battles. I can teach you." This was not a lie. From the Second Great Shinobi War, he had always been active, encountering all sorts of enemies and dangers. But he survived. Naruto Uzumaki was a little stunned. Jiraiya was experienced, but his parents were also experienced. And they could guide him anytime, anywhere. But considering that Jiraiya was Minato Namikaze's teacher, Naruto Uzumaki didn't refuse directly. Instead, he sank his consciousness into the sealing space.
"What do you two think?"
"Sensei Jiraiya is indeed very powerful," Kushina Uzumaki didn't like Jiraiya's perverted nature, but she admitted that his strength was among the best in the ninja world.
"But with you two guiding me, it seems unnecessary," Naruto Uzumaki said. This was the first time he had met Jiraiya. He couldn't have the same deep feelings for him as he did in the original story.
"That's true. Then you should refuse," Minato Namikaze stroked his chin. "Sensei Jiraiya is busy with Mount Myōboku's affairs and probably doesn't have much time to teach you." He knew Jiraiya. He was always running off somewhere. He didn't know about the destruction of Mount Myōboku. Therefore, his impression of Jiraiya was still from before.
"I'm sorry, Lord Jiraiya," Naruto Uzumaki said, meeting his expectant gaze, and explained Minato Namikaze's situation.
"..." Jiraiya had never expected his student's contingency plan to be like this. But it was definitely a betrayal. With Minato Namikaze around, Naruto Uzumaki naturally no longer needed him as a teacher. And he couldn't interfere in their father-son relationship. Jiraiya forced a smile. "It's fine. I understand." Now he understood why Sasame had agreed so readily. He had assumed Jiraiya would return empty-handed. This Hokage was simply too terrifying.
"Although I can't be your student, if you have time, you can still give me some guidance," Naruto Uzumaki said, seeing his expression. His personality was a little different from his original self. But he was still a good kid. Jiraiya was stunned, feeling a lot of emotion.
At the same time, Sasame picked up a document. It was about Hoshigakure. He planned to get that meteorite. Perhaps it could help his Hokage bodyguard team improve their strength. For example, Kurenai Yuhi.
