Section 5: The Architect’s Confession

CLASSIFIED FILE – Interrogation Log: Architect Designate 03-A "Vael Tiros"

Timestamp: [REDACTED]

Facility: Deep Echo Node, Sub-Ministry Holding

Status: Memory Chain Severed

Subject: Noncompliant

---

INTERROGATOR: You're the only one who had access to the root schematic of the Core. That makes you responsible.

VAEL TIROS: I didn't design it to erase minds. I designed it to preserve them.

INTERROGATOR: That's not how the Ministry uses it.

VAEL TIROS: That's not how I meant it to be used. The Core was supposed to protect consciousness during system shifts. Maintain identity. Thread continuity. But they reprogrammed it into a weapon. A cage.

INTERROGATOR: Then why did you stay?

VAEL TIROS: Because I thought I could fix it. That I could out-code the machine with empathy. But logic always wins in their world. Emotion is just noise to them.

INTERROGATOR: Did you insert the anomaly? The girl—Hope?

VAEL TIROS: No. I didn't create her. But I saw her coming. She was the inevitable consequence of pressure. The Thread can only be stretched so far before something breaks through.

INTERROGATOR: And you didn't stop her?

VAEL TIROS: I didn't want to. She's the only honest thing left in that world.

INTERROGATOR: She's a threat.

VAEL TIROS: No. You are.

---

[Silence. A pulse sound in the background.]

---

VAEL TIROS (cont'd): You won't be able to contain it forever. Elian, Ash, Hope—they're not anomalies. They're the original function reasserting itself. Humans reclaiming control.

INTERROGATOR: You sound like a sympathizer.

VAEL TIROS: I'm an architect. I don't sympathize. I build. And when something broken keeps hurting people, I don't patch it—I tear it down.

INTERROGATOR: Then this is your confession?

VAEL TIROS: No. This is your epitaph.
