Kelvin's heart lurched. This wasn't an army. It was a plague given flesh. "Xerion, burn it now!" he screamed.
The beast reared back, with its throat glowing with violet light. Immediately fire erupted from his jaws, sweeping across the crawling swarm. The forest lit up in purple inferno with lesser undead screeching as they burned to ash.
But the abomination didn't falter. If anything, it only grew more frenzied, its body was convulsed as it lumbered forward. One massive arm swung down.
The blow tore through the root Kelvin had used for cover, splintering it like twigs. Dirt and splinters rained down, forcing Kelvin to dive to clear out.
The monster's other arm slammed into the ground where Xerion had coiled. The serpent darted aside, with the impact leaving a hole in the soil.
Kelvin's breath came fast, but his mind was sharpened. Retreat was death. To survive, they had to cut through the abomination itself.
