The climb back toward the Chamber of Bones should have been straightforward, but as Selena and Dante ascended through the shaft, something strange began to happen. The stone walls around them started to shimmer, to ripple like water disturbed by a passing stone. Through their completed binding, they both felt it—a disturbance in reality itself, a thinning of the barrier between present and past.
"Do you see that?" Selena asked, her wings working steadily to carry them upward even as her attention fixed on the strange phenomena spreading across the walls.
"I see it," Dante confirmed, his hand tightening on her waist as they flew together, their binding making such coordinated movement almost instinctive. "The walls are... showing us something. Like looking through a window into another time."
