THE LIAR KING CHAPTER 0

The World, the Game, and the Lie

I. The Continent of Veritas

Veritas is a land built on contradiction — a continent that preaches unity but thrives on division, where truth is currency but lies are law. It is an ancient land, fractured into twenty sovereign states, each with its own rule, history, and allegiance. Though they pretend to coexist in harmony, Veritas is in perpetual cold war — a delicate equilibrium held by treaties, spies, and subterfuge.

Here are the Twenty States of Veritas:

1. Virelia

2. Nytherra

3. Dauvalen

4. Kael'thros

5. Elarin

6. Zhurak

7. Iskareth

8. Quessan

9. Valmere

10. Cindralis.

11. Thergund.

12. Myrrenhal.

13. Ossaria

14. Brailith

15. Fenmaris

16. Kaf

17. Drakenthor

18. Sol'Vera

19. Noctherrin

20. Kyverna

II. The Origin of the Liar Games

The Liar Games began as an experiment by the rulers of Kyverna, an underground contest of manipulation and deception meant to train elite agents in psychological warfare. But as the world changed, the Games evolved — no longer a state secret but a spectacle.

Now, it's a secret society that controls all of Veritas and to gain power you must win the games, and the best is crowned the Liar King

Whether the origins of the games is a lie or not isn't known, nor is the origins of veritas

IV. The Lie Eater vs. The Liar King

Beneath the spectacle lies a deeper conflict. Every iteration of the Game seeks to answer the same ancient question:

Is the world ruled by truth or by lies?

The Lie Eater: A shadowed figure who believes the world can be unmasked. They work to dismantle illusions and resist the manipulation at the heart of the Game.

The Liar King: A crowned deceiver who sees lies as liberation — that only through manipulation can one survive, and rule.

Both exist in myth and in flesh the world waits for them to emerge.

V. On Lies and Masks

In Veritas, masks are more than symbols — they are laws. To be unmasked is to be vulnerable, and the highest in society wear their masks at all times. Nobles duel not with swords, but with rumors. Treaties are signed in ink made from manipulated truth.

A mask can be literal — silver, gold, or iron — but it can also be behavior, persona, alliance. Truth is seen as weakness unless wielded with purpose. Children are taught to lie before they learn to read.

To survive is to deceive. But to win?

One must master the truth and the lie.

VI

The Game is not fair.

The Game is not honest.

The Game is Veritas.

And in Veritas, truth is a weapon best wielded as a lie.
