Chapter 71 - Chapter 71: Fairy Law

As Nab, Alzack, and Bisca left to help Erza, I took a moment to regain some energy while leaning against the wall; during that time, I witnessed Natsu and Gajeel fighting, exchanging mighty blows while fighting using almost the same style; it was also partly why I nearly defeated Gajeel multiple times in the beginning before he stared to wear me down. 'Alright, I-I can't stay down forever; I'll fall asleep if I do.' Groaning in pain and exhaustion, I slowly stood up and trekked towards where Lucy and Cana were fighting. Along the way, I happened to encounter a few mages from Phantom Lord, and of course, I defeated them, not without nearly collapsing, but I pushed through and dashed through the guild until I arrived at the battle a minute later, just in time to catch Cana.

"Ugh, bastard is tough." Muttered Cana lightly as she wiped blood from her mouth while Lucy and Virgo fought against Sol, though he was easily winning without Cana's help now. "I'll help, Cana." "Eh, big bro? W-When did you get here? A-Actually, how did you get here? Lucy said you couldn't leave." Asked Cana in surprise as she raised her head and looked at me while I set her down, shifting my gaze to Sol. "I-I'll tell you later. Let's just defeat Sol; Erza needs help with Jose's shades." Patting Cana's head, I gestured to Sol, causing her to nod as I dashed towards Lucy while Cana followed behind.

Approaching Lucy, I swiftly scooped her into my arms and leaped to the side, dodging an attack from Sol that would've otherwise sent her flying into the distance like Cana. "Big bro? H-How are you out of the magic circle!? Did you regain your magic?" Asked Lucy with wide eyes as she stared at me, though I was forced to dodge another attack from Sol before Cana intervened, using her magic cards and drawing his attention away from us. "I'll tell you later, let's just b-beat Sol." Setting Lucy down, she gave me a concerned look before firmly nodding, causing me to smirk as I lunged towards Sol, who raised an earth wall, blocking my path, but I clenched my fist and punched right through it.

However, just as I punched through the earth wall, I was hit with a barrage of stones, forcing me back. "Heh, if this is all an S-class mage of Fairy Tail amounts to, I'm sorely disappointed." Said Sol mockingly with a sadistic smile as he constantly pelted me with a rain of stones, yet it didn't last long as Virgo and Cana attacked Sol, forcing him to defend. Dropping to my knees while gasping for breath, I tried to stand, but my body refused to move. "B-Big bro!" Hearing Lucy, I glanced at her, only to see her get hit with a boulder and flung into the distance, causing me to grit my teeth as I slowly stood up, only to collapse halfway.

Hearing another grunt, I saw Cana get flung away as well while footsteps slowly grew louder; shifting my gaze forward, I glanced up at Sol, who stood before me with a nasty smirk that resembled Jose's a bit too much, only for him to outstretch his hand toward me. "Seeing how much physical pain you're in, let me add to it." Said Sol with a wicked grin as he subjected me to his magic, causing horrible memories of my past to flash through my mind in vivid detail. Remembering the village I was born into, my late parents, my older sister Savannah, and their painful demise; yet that wasn't all, as time swiftly passed until just a few years ago when Lisanna died, and I was unable to do anything to save her.

While those memories invaded every inch of my mind, I could feel my body grow incredibly rigid as my skin slowly turned to stone, immobilizing me. "BIG BRO!" Hearing Cana's voice, through traumatic memories I was forced to relive, it was akin to the voice of an angel that guided me through a dark tunnel. Snapping my eyes back at Sol, I flexed my muscles, breaking the stone surrounding me while he stepped back in shock and disbelief. "H-How!?" Said Sol loudly as he gazed down at me, though I didn't utter a word and swiftly extended my hand to his neck while standing up.

"Heh, how? How could I not heed the call of my little siblings? You wouldn't understand what it means to be a big brother." With a snarl, I clenched Sol's neck tightly before hurling him into the sky, prompting Cana and Virgo to attack him while he helplessly slammed into the ceiling. After being pelted with attacks by Cana and Virgo, Sol listlessly fell to the ground and plopped right in front of me, yet when I was about to check on him to ensure he was unconscious or dead, Lucy kicked him in the face. "Lucy kick!" Said Lucy with a satisfied expression as she victoriously stood over the defeated Sol, while Cana and I blankly stared at her. "Did she just–" 'Yes, she did, Cana."

Nodding at Cana, she and Lucy approached me while Virgo returned to the celestial spirit realm; when they arrived near me, the two placed my arms around their shoulders and attempted to help prompt me up, though with my pride as their big bro, I refused their assistance and gently pushed them aside. "Hmph, I'm fine. Go help Erza, she's in the main hall fending off Jose's shades." "A-Are you sure, big bro? You look like you could keel over and die from a lightly thrown pebble." Asked Cana in concern as she gazed deeply at me, causing me to simply grunt. "I'm fine… Now go help Erza. I'll catch up later." Grabbing Cana and Lucy's shoulders, I gently pushed them toward the main hall.

Watching Cana hesitantly leave, Lucy stopped and silently looked at me, causing me to growl, which prompted her to reluctantly follow Cana; once they left, I waited a few moments before finally collapsing onto the ground; it was taking everything I had to stay conscious. 'Ugh, I-I j-just need a short nap.' Despite trying my hardest, my eyelids were too heavy, and not even a second later, darkness consumed me.

However, after an unknown amount of time, I felt myself moving, causing me to weakly open my eyes, only to see a feminine neck with long blonde hair. "L-Lucy?" "Ugh, y-you're awake, big bro?" Lightly nodding, I groaned in pain and tried to move, but my body wouldn't move an inch; it seemed that without adrenaline, I was too exhausted and injured to move anything but my finger. "W-Whats happening?" "Well, we defeated Phantom Lord, but Master asked us to leave the guild to fight Jose–" Said Lucy, though she wasn't able to finish as an oppressive amount of magic power erupted from behind, and while it wasn't anything scary to me, it nearly caused Lucy to collapse, though she caught herself.

"C-Crap, w-why are you so heavy, big bro!?" Asked Lucy through gritted teeth as she trekked down the hill, trailing behind the rest of our guild members. "I-I'm not that heavy…" "How much do you weigh then?" "254 pounds." "T-That's more than double my weight! I'm only 110 pounds!" "We're also both top-heavy." Glancing at Lucy's large chest with a faint smirk, she covered my face with her hand while scoffing before we descended into silence. While walking, ripples of mighty magic power reached our location, causing the ground to constantly tremble. "L-Lucy, use my body as a sled." "Eh, w-what?" "I have a lot of blood on my body, so it'll serve as a good lubricant." "I-I'm not using your body as a sled!" Said Lucy, though just as she finished speaking, an explosion occurred from the guild behind us, causing her to lose her footing and fall to the ground.

"Um, s-so, are you sure, big bro?" Asked Lucy with a sheepish expression, causing me to lightly nod as she crawled onto my chest while I lifted my nails, which I had stabbed into the ground. With my blood coating my back, we slid down the hill, prompting us to slowly gain speed as we quickly reached our guildmates before passing them. "Eh, was that Lucy?" "Yeah, but was I mistaken, or was she riding big bro?" "Nah, you must've just been seeing things." "Heh, what kind of riding though?"

Once we reached the bottom of the hill, we crashed into a bench, bringing us to an immediate halt while Lucy skidded across the ground. "Ugh, t-that's one way to travel… Are you alright, big bro?" "No, but I can't feel my body, so I'm fine." As Lucy crawled to me, she used whatever muscles her tiny body had and lifted me onto the bench before plopping beside me; however, just as she did, Gramps' magic power suddenly increased, and not even a second later, a bright lone erupted from the guild hall behind us before seeping over us and all of Oak Town, yet it didn't harm any of us.

'W-What was that?" Asked Lucy in confusion and slight fear as she glanced at her body before gazing at the guild behind me, while I faintly smirked. "One of Fairy Tail's three great magics… Fairy Law."
