Meanwhile in Country A, in Lexie Corp.
"Young master, young miss is in trouble", Daniel's assistant spoke.
"Speak clearly Marcus,What do you mean my sister is in trouble".
Daniel is Ling Xi's older brother not related by blood.
"Young miss is said to have been in a relationship with a guest professor,Zayn McKade, the renowned neurosurgeon from country X which is against the university's rules so she has been suspended and her degree certificate has been revoked.Daniel slammed his fist on the polished mahogany desk, the sound echoing through the spacious executive office of Lexie Corp. At 28, his shoulders carried the weight of running his late parents' company, but right now, all he could feel was a searing mix of anger and concern. His dark eyes flashed as he gripped the edge of the desk.
"That's impossible," he said, his voice low and sharp. "Ling Xi would never disregard rules so carelessly. She knows how much her education means – not just for herself, but for everything our families have built together."
Marcus shifted nervously, adjusting his glasses as he pulled up a tablet with more information. "I thought the same, Young Master. But the university has released an official statement, and there are... anonymous reports circulating online claiming inappropriate conduct, even suggesting she received special treatment in her research projects because of the relationship."
Daniel stood up abruptly, pacing across the room as he ran a hand through his dark hair. He'd been just twelve when his parents passed away in a tragic car accident, and Ling Xi's family – his parents' closest business partners – had taken him in without a second thought. Now twenty-two, Ling Xi was more than a sister to him; she was the bright, curious heart of the family, the one who always reminded him why their work in biotechnology mattered beyond profits and patents.
"And Zayn McKade?" Daniel stopped pacing, turning to face his assistant. "This 'renowned neurosurgeon' – what do we know about him beyond the official profile? I was just visiting Xi last month and she never mentioned anyone like that."
Marcus scrolled through his files. "He's been teaching at the university for six months, brought in as part of a collaborative program with their medical research department. His work on neural pathways is groundbreaking, and he's published papers that have revolutionized treatment for traumatic brain injuries.
Daniel's brow furrowed in thought. "So either someone is trying to frame them both, or there's a connection we're missing. Have you been able to reach Ling Xi? Or her parents?"
"Her parents are already on their way to Country X from their vacation home," Marcus replied quietly. "But Ling Xi herself isn't answering calls or messages – not even from them. We've traced her phone signal to a small apartment on the outskirts of the city – registered under Zayn McKade's name."
A new thought crossed Daniel's mind. When he'd visited last month, Ling Xi had been working on something she'd only hinted at, saying it could bridge the gap between their company's research and practical patient care. She'd smiled mysteriously and promised to tell him everything once it was ready. Could this be related?
"Prepare the jet," Daniel said decisively, already reaching for his coat. "I'm going to Country X immediately – I was supposed to be taking some time off anyway. But Marcus – before we go, run a deep background check on every member of the university's review board, especially those who pushed for immediate suspension. And look into any recent attempts to acquire our company's research patents – or Ling Xi's personal project filings. Something doesn't add up here, and I won't let anyone destroy her future or the trust our families have built over decades."
As Marcus hurried to carry out the orders, Daniel stared out the window at the sprawling skyline of Country A. He'd spent half his life being part of Ling Xi's family, and they'd always stood by him when he needed it most. Now it was his turn to protect her – even if it meant going up against powerful forces that seemed determined to tear apart everything they held dear.
Little did he know, the truth behind the accusations would lead them down a path none of them could have imagined.
In the Zayn's apartment on the outskirts of town,Ling Xi lied in Zayn's arms reminiscing of what had happened throughout the day.
Her phone kept ringing and buzzing with calls and texts from her parents and brother but she did not have the courage to face them. She knew they would be disappointed and she was not ready for that yet.
"Won't you pick up the calls?,Your parents are worried sick about you and want to know how you are doing",Zayn spoke softly.
"I know but I just can not face them now," Ling Xi whispered, burying her face deeper into his chest. The fabric of his shirt absorbed the warmth of her tears, which she'd been trying so hard to hold back since they'd left the university. "They've always believed in me, Zayn. They raised me to do the right thing, to respect rules and work hard for everything I achieve. How do I tell them that even though we didn't break any rules – that we didn't start this until after my project was submitted – no one will believe us?"
Zayn stroked her hair gently, his own jaw tight with frustration. He'd spent years building his reputation, not just as a surgeon but as someone who valued integrity above all else. To have it all crumble overnight because of anonymous lies felt like a knife twisting in his chest – but seeing the pain in Ling Xi's eyes hurt far more.
"I understand why you're scared," he said, his voice low and steady. "But hiding from them won't help. They love you, and they deserve to know the truth. Besides, we can't fight this alone – not when whoever is behind this has already planted so much false evidence."
At the Huningham airport,A private jet landed and out came Daniel."Ready a car we are going to find Ling Xi.Call mom and dad and tell them that I will bring Lin Xi safely home so they don't have to worry", Daniel gave orders to his assistant.
Marcus nodded and hurried to arrange transport as Daniel adjusted his cufflinks, his gaze fixed on the city skyline in the distance. The flight from Country A had been long, but his mind had been racing the entire time – replaying every conversation he'd had with Marcus, every detail of the reports about Ling Xi and this Professor Zayn McKade.
"Your car is waiting, Young Master," his driver called out, holding open the door of a sleek black sedan.
Daniel climbed in, and as they pulled away from the terminal, he pulled out his phone to make the call his sister's parents were waiting for. The line picked up after just two rings.
"Daniel? Have you found her yet?" His aunt's voice was tight with worry, and he could hear his uncle speaking quietly in the background.
"Not yet, but we're on our way to her location now," he said, keeping his tone calm and reassuring. "I've already confirmed where she is – she's safe, I promise you both. There's no need for you to make the trip; I'll bring her home safely, and we can sort through all of this together."
There was a long pause on the other end, then his uncle spoke up. "Daniel, we trust you completely. But please – whatever you find out, don't act impulsively. We've worked too hard to build what we have, and we won't let anyone destroy Xi's future. Just bring her back to us."
"I will," Daniel said firmly, ending the call as the car turned onto the highway leading out of the city center. He'd already mapped out the route to Zayn's apartment, thanks to Marcus's careful tracking work. As they drove past quiet residential streets and industrial buildings, his thoughts turned to Ling Xi – how she'd always been so brave and determined, never one to back down from a challenge.
Something told him that whatever was happening here went far beyond just a university rule violation. And as the car pulled up to the quiet building where she was staying, Daniel took a deep breath, steeling himself for whatever he was about to face. He'd come here to bring his sister home, but he was also ready to uncover the truth – no matter what it took.
