During the conversation between them, Matthew did not say anything, just observing from the side. From time to time, he could not help but glance at Sean, and there was bewilderment in his eyes.
In his heart, he could not help but wonder, could it be that the old man knew the identity of this young man? Or was there something special about this young man that made the old man so agreeable?
Matthew understood his boss quite well. He had already met with several people that had the intentions of purchasing the coffee shop, but they never came to an agreement. And thinking about it, it seemed that the old man had been making more requests as compared to the one that he had made to Sean.
Could it be that the old man was doing all that deliberately because he did not want to sell the shop to those people? Or could it be that he was being sentimental, thinking about his youth?
Despite how many times he thought about it, Matthew could not understand what was going through the mind of the old man. Regardless, he decided not to bother to think about it, as he could just ask the old man later on.
Since they had come to an agreement, Sean did not want to waste any more time. So, he asked the old man about completing the procedures regarding the transfer.
Then the old man said something that shocked Sean, "Don't worry about the required procedures. Actually, I have already drafted out the transfer agreement, you can go through it, and immediately after you sign that agreement, this job will be yours. The title did of this piece of land will be sent to you within the following one or two days."
Upon hearing those words, Sean could not help but wonder about the background of this old man. He did not seem as simple as he was, despite wearing simply.
Despite those thoughts, Sean did not have the intention of asking about the old man's background. In any case, he did not believe that they were going to have any other interactions in the future, so, after purchasing this coffee shop, it would be time for him to deal with other things.
Immediately after the old man finished speaking, Matthew took a briefcase that was placed beside his chair on the ground, opened it, and took two documents.
"This is the transfer agreement, including the conditions required, they are in duplicate. So, if you are signing, you have to place your signature in both. Please go through them." Matthew stated as he handed the documents to Sean.
Sean raised his brows slightly. It seemed that the old man had already anticipated that he would agree to the condition that he had mentioned, and that was the reason why there was a draft of the transfer agreement here.
Not sure if that was the case, Sean immediately began going through the two documents, realizing that just as Matthew had said, there was nothing else other than the agreement about the transfer, together with the price!
This made Sean think deeply about the old man. As anticipated, this old man was not simple. And due to thinking that this old man was not simple, shown did not want to have any future interactions with this old man.
This old man was so scary. He was able to anticipate everything, as if he could see through the future. And, one had to know that this was the first time that they were meeting. Of course, unless the old man had investigated about him during the past 3 hours, it would be impossible for the old man to know about him.
A few minutes later, considering that each document had only two leaflets, Sean was able to finish reading the two documents. Since there was nothing wrong about it, Sean went ahead and placed his signature where he was required.
The old man also followed suit, signing as well. He took one of the documents, leaving the other to Sean. After that, Sean transferred the money as was stated within the transfer agreement.
It was quite a simple procedure, considering that the amount involved was not extremely high. So, in just a few minutes, the transfer had been completed, and the old man had confirmed that the money had arrived into his account.
The moment that the old man made a confirmation that he had received the money, Sean received a prompt from the system.
But Sean did not look at the prompt from the system, considering that he was wary of this old man. While the system had clearly stated that it was from outside this universe, Sean was not willing to risk anything.
What if the old man found out something from him by just observing him? If there was suspicion, then things would definitely get out of hand if someone acted on the suspicion.
All this could end up leading to the existence of the system being revealed, and there might be terrible consequences of that. So, the moment that the holographic screen of the system appeared in front of him, together with the voice ringing in his mind, Sean simply dismissed the screen, and it disappeared.
He managed to maintain a calm expression, while subduing the curiosity about what he had received this time. While the voice in his mind had rang, it only mentioned the first sentence about him investing $6,000.
That had always been the case, as the system never mentioned any other thing about from the amount of money that had been invested and in what.
Andrew smiled at Sean before standing up. As he began walking towards the door of the coffee shop, he said, "Now that we have completed the transaction, this shop is yours. I'm looking forward to seeing what you are going to do with this shop."
"I will try my best." Sean responded as he followed the old man towards the door. Matthew also picked up his briefcase and followed.
When the three reached the door, the old man stopped and looked at Matthew and said, "Matthew, you should stay for a little while. Wait until this young man finds someone to replace you, before you can leave and come find me."
Matthew nodded as he had already anticipated that. He had not yet handed over the office to someone else, making it impossible for him to leave for the time being. He needed to at least introduce Sean to the operations of the coffee shop.
Even though it was a small coffee shop, the workings of a coffee shop were definitely quite complex, and for someone who was unfamiliar with them, it would be impossible for them to be able to operate it.
After the old man said those words, he began walking down the streets, making sure raise his brows again. At the same time, he contemplated, could it be that this old man did not have some formidable background?
It did not make any sense. After all, if he had some background, and was some kind of big shot within this city, he should at least have a car, right?
"Mr. Stevens, please allow me to do the introduction of this shop to you. I was the one that was in charge of this coffee shop entirely. I was managing the employees, the finances and everything else, and considering the size of the coffee shop, I was able to manage all that." Matthew spoke up, bringing Sean out of his thoughts.
"Sure, please let's go ahead." Sean responded, and Matthew led the way. Several of the baristas in the coffee shop could not help but glance at Sean, quite curious about him. Only the barista that had served him this morning understood what was happening.
It was just that she was quite shocked, as she had not anticipated that Sean was actually serious about buying the coffee shop, and from the looks of it, he had actually bought it.
She whispered to another lady that was beside her, leading to that lady being shocked. This immediately led to the information about the acquisition of the coffee shop by Sean spreading among the employees of the coffee shop.
Sean did not care about the whispers of the employees of the coffee shop. Instead, he followed Matthew to a door that was adjacent to the kitchen. That was where the office was located.
As they entered the office, Sean realized that this office was simply furnished. Other than a desk on a chair behind it, there was only a bookshelf that was to the right, and a cabinet that was located just a small distance away from the desk.
Matthew went behind the desk, taking out a file that contained quite a pile of documents. He began introducing the documents within the file that were neatly arranged.
The documents had been arranged according to what information they possessed, some about the employees, others about the financial situation of the coffee shop, and other about legal matters of the coffee shop.
Basically, all the information about the coffee shop was contained within the file that was presented by Matthew. Sean briefly went through the file, gaining a basic understanding of the coffee shop.
But after a while, Sean could not help but look at Matthew and ask, "Do you perhaps have anyone that you can recommend to take this position? I don't really have that much time right now to find a suitable candidate to manage this coffee shop."
Matthew was surprised by the question, but after a moment of thought, he nodded. He said, "I have one. It is just that this person is quite stubborn, and I'm not sure if you can agree to them being the manager here. Even though stubborn, when it comes to work, they can be considered good, if not among the best."
