After hanging up, Doflamingo looked at the teleportation talisman in his palm and sighed.
He didn't have many of these talismans to begin with and now he'd have to use two more for this round trip.
Returning to Dressrosa, as soon as he stepped out of the teleportation light, Doflamingo saw Kaido standing before him, with Trebol trembling uncontrollably behind him.
"Don't be nervous. I'm just here to check on my artificial Devil Fruits." Kaido spoke first and without waiting for Doflamingo response, he turned and walked off on his own.
Doflamingo naturally didn't dare to stop him and could only follow.
But before he could take more than a few steps, a heavy hand clapped down on his shoulder.
Turning around, Doflamingo saw Big Mom standing behind him.
"Perfect timing. I need to talk to you too."
Big Mom's sudden appearance had already set off alarm bells in Doflamingo mind and hearing her say this only made him more nervous.
He shot a glance at Trebol, signaling him to stay alert and call for backup if anything went wrong.
However, Trebol seemed too shaken by the consecutive appearances of Kaido and Big Mom to have noticed the hint.
As Big Mom walked forward, she explained her purpose.
"Caesar has been researching the gigantification drug for me, but he still hasn't given me an answer. So.... go and ask him how the development is going."
Though she framed it as a request, Big Mom tone was firm, leaving no room for negotiation.
Doflamingo agreed, feeling slightly relieved.
He had been worried that Kaido and Big Mom sudden visits were ill-intentioned, but now it seemed he had overthink it.
Just as Doflamingo agreed, Kaido Den Den Mushi rang.
After listening it for a moment, Kaido angrily hung up and turned to Big Mom.
"Something's happened on my end. I need to go back immediately."
"Something happened? What?"
"Whitebeard."
