Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

"Biomonitor: Hello, Sandra. If you are conscious, please adjust yourself to the recovery position immediately!"

"Biomonitor: Emergency evacuation team has been dispatched. Estimated arrival in 180 seconds!"

Shortly after the chip was removed, a voice from the Trauma Team spoke directly into Sandra's mind.

They would arrive within three minutes—true to their reputation as Platinum service providers!

"Jack, we've got 180 seconds. Clear the enemies outside, fast!"

Lin Yu turned and called out.

Jack took a quick look around and stationed himself by the door.

"Pobethta! (Damn!) I'll keep watch. Get the girl out of the ice first!"

Jack cursed in a foreign tongue, grumbling as he stood guard.

As Lin Yu pulled Sandra from the tub, her biomonitor suddenly glitched.

"Shit, V—no heartbeat!"

Jack cried out.

"What's happening? Tell me now!"

T-BUG, hearing the panic, demanded urgently.

"I know! Hand me the pneumatic injector, quick!"

Lin Yu placed Sandra gently on the floor.

Catching the injector Jack tossed him, he pressed it against her chest and triggered it.

"She should be okay now. Let her recover on her own. We need to clear the enemies outside, fast!"

Lin Yu barked orders.

These Scavs needed to be wiped out quickly—if they clashed with the Trauma Team, they themselves would become targets.

Those medics were arrogant enough to shoot first and ask questions later.

Avoiding any misunderstandings meant acting fast!

After laying Sandra flat on the floor, Lin Yu and Jack dashed out.

The bathroom door slammed shut behind them—no more distractions.

160 seconds remained.

Footsteps echoed outside. The commotion earlier had obviously drawn attention.

Bang! Bang!

Lin Yu fired two clean headshots, dropping the first enemy who appeared.

Hearing gunfire, others scrambled to set up suppressive fire.

"Jack, cover the door for me!"

Lin Yu ordered sharply.

"No problem, V. Do your thing!"

Jack crossed his arms, firing alternately at both corners, keeping enemies pinned down.

Compared to sneaky hacking assassinations, he much preferred a good old-fashioned shootout.

The horrors they'd seen in the bathroom had also ignited Jack's fury.

Every bullet he fired carried his rage, tearing into the Scavs without mercy.

Lin Yu gave Jack a glance—he could rely on him.

Kicking off the floor, Lin Yu sprinted back along the route they came from.

In one burst of acceleration, he bisected two rats dashing through the corridor.

He looked more like a Scav than the Scavs themselves.

The office layout had two exits: one leading to the bathroom, and the other—a corridor and a broken wall—opening into the main hall.

At this moment, most of the enemies in the hall were pinned down by Jack's fierce suppressive fire.

Lin Yu's plan was simple: flank them from behind along the original path!

"You sons of bitches, come on out!"

Jack roared while shooting, his voice filled with fury.

It was pure bravado—meant to lure the Scavs' focus.

Despite his gruff appearance, Jack was sharp—a true battlefield veteran.

Sure enough, the Scavs hesitated.

And in that hesitation, Lin Yu struck!

In the main hall, all the enemies clustered behind the broken wall, waiting for Jack to reload.

★★★

They had no idea—the reaper had already descended!

Lin Yu suddenly accelerated, his Mantis Blades propelling him into the crowd almost instantly.

Unleashing a series of fierce attacks, he tore through them like a tiger among sheep, slaughtering with abandon!

In a flash, severed limbs flew and blood pooled across the floor.

Bathed in crimson, Lin Yu looked like a demon unleashed from hell, leaving the Scavs in utter shock.

They had no idea where this new attacker had come from, nor why he was so terrifyingly strong!

The few survivors, fighting back the urge to vomit, scrambled desperately through the broken wall, trying to flee into the office.

Jack was already waiting.

As screams echoed, he reloaded smoothly, pumping a fresh magazine into his gun.

Two Scavs caught a full burst of bullets before they even realized it.

The remaining enemies, realizing that the Trauma Team was en route, tried to retreat.

But Lin Yu wasn't about to let them go—who knew how many lives would be lost to organ trafficking if these vermin escaped?

Killing them wasn't some noble crusade to make the city a better place; he was simply venting the disgust and anger he felt after seeing that scene in the bathroom.

In no time, most of the fleeing Scavs were hunted down.

Lin Yu and Jack, with perfect coordination, completed the sweep.

"Jack, stop shooting. There's no one left!"

When Lin Yu returned, Jack was still firing into the broken wall. Without the warning, who knew how long he'd keep going.

There were still 80 seconds remaining.

Lin Yu hurried back to the bathroom, picked up Sandra, and carried her through a doorway onto an exposed balcony.

It was an external corridor, the docking zone for aircars.

"V, aren't we waiting for the Trauma Team to arrive?"

Jack asked, concerned for Sandra's safety. If she died now, the mission would still fail.

"If you don't want those pricks kicking your ass, then you better wait over here!"

Lin Yu chuckled, patting Jack's shoulder, then sat down by a window in the next room.

From there, he could keep an eye on Sandra without dealing directly with the Trauma Team.

He knew from the story that those people were arrogant as hell.

Jack wasn't about to push his luck either. He joined Lin Yu at the window, and the two of them lit cigarettes, waiting casually.

When time ran out, the aircar arrived right on schedule.

"Docking in progress. Please stand clear. Protection protocol active. Follow all instructions!"

The aircar's loudspeaker blared as it docked outside the corridor, deploying a squad of heavily armed operatives to secure the perimeter.

Moments later, professional medics rushed out, quickly assessing Sandra and carrying her away.

"Mission complete. Finally bagged a big one!"

Jack exhaled in relief as the aircar took off, finishing his cigarette with a satisfied flick.

"Ah, what a shitty job—but it's finally done. V, you looked like a god of war back there!"

It was T-BUG's first time seeing Lin Yu in action, and her voice brimmed with genuine awe.

"Told you, BUG—you should have a little more faith in V," Jack added with a laugh.

"Not just me—it was all of us!"

Lin Yu grinned, stomping out his cigarette, though his gaze remained fixed on the departing Trauma Team.

The show they put on was even more extravagant than it had been in the game.

But someday, he vowed, someone would make that arrogant organization bow!
