Chapter 83 - The Next Phase Of Sanctuary

As Raven drove deeper into the decaying heart of New York, the Ironhowl X4's engine rumbled quietly around her. She leaned back into her leather seat, the weight of her recent thoughts about the lab that once butchered her began to be slowly pushed aside for now.

Alara sat beside her, silent but happy with a goofy smile on her face, still licking the remnants of zombie core residue off her fingertips in satisfaction. With a thought, Raven shifted focus. "System," she said out loud, her voice calm but curious, "Can I store regular animals inside of Sanctuary like I did with the livestock from before? Will they be automatically cared for be able to reproduce like my domesticated livestock?"

A response message followed Ravens' question almost instantly.

[Apocalypse Ascendancy System Notification]

"Sanctuary is fully capable of supporting all land based and aquatic animal life independently. Automatic food is provided, environmental support is provided, and reproduction is automatic. If genetic samples are provided, extinct species may be recreated. This supports the host's long-term ecological preservation objective."

Raven tilted her head slightly in thought, lips parting with something between a sigh and a thoughtful exhale. This changes things. Not just the immediate goals of this zoo mission. It changes the scope of what Raven can build. If she plays the long game, Raven can save entire ecosystems, rebuild Earth inside of Sanctuary for where only her and Alara can enjoy it. Her healing powers make her nearly immortal unless someone finds a way to remove her head or blow up her body. Given enough time, and enough levels of awakening even these weaknesses will fade.

She thought about the next decade on earth as the land suffers from endless undead battles, infected animals fighting each other, the rise of mutant plantlife, oceans tainted by mutant sea beasts. Humanity as unstable as ever will grow into something worse. By then she will be far beyond any of their weak level of development. By that time, she will be level six or seven at least.

The gates of Central Park came into view ahead, covered with ivy and fallen zombie bodies. Raven slowed the Ironhowl, steering around an overturned police cruiser as she parked and stored the Ironhowl X4 back into her system space.

"Come on," Raven said to Alara

She glanced at Alara. Her girlfriend stood in the snow-covered grass around them, her black glasses still resting neatly on her face.

"Stay close to me, Alara," Raven said while pulling an AK-47 over her shoulder on its strap. This rifle is solid, dependable. The kind of weapon used by half the world because it works when everything else fails. "There might be danger lurking around here."

Alara gave no reply, but her body moved closer to Raven.

Raven launched her two drones, watching them rise from the system space in perfect unison. They flew ahead, scanning the park for threats. She left Metal Mouse in the system space. Her four-slot system capacity means every robot minion matters. With the two drones and Metal Mouse three of her existing slots are occupied. Leaving room for one more minion.

She'd have to design a smaller, more compact drone Raven has just the thing in mind, and man will it blow up the competition.
