Chapter 2 - Our eyes met

Help[1]

Kari

Continuing my journey, I come across a forest with a dense canopy.

Initially, I felt a bit scared, but I decided to enter anyway. After all, my constitution was quite high. It's hard to imagine something harming me.

Just appreciating the view and beauty of this new world, I was enchanted.

I could observe flowers in different, shimmering colors.

The trees had wood that alternated between tones, as if something pulsed inside them. The green here seemed more contrasting too. It was as if this world was more alive.

I believe it must be because of the existence of magic being so proeminent here, compared to Earth.

Lost in my thoughts, I suddenly come across a small, round creature.

Wherever it went, goo was left behind. It seemed to be consuming small fruits and other creatures like insects.

"It looks like a Slime... but just to check..."

Using my Knowledge skill, I assessed its stats and abilities:

[Slime

Level: 1 / Exp: 25/100

Gender: ???

Attributes: Constitution 1 / Vitality 10 / Dexterity 5 / Magic 1

Skills: Devourer, Echo Location.

Devourer: This skill allows the user to ingest anything as food. It doesn't make the taste any better, though. And even if you decide to eat something sharp or poisonous, if your resistance isn't high enough, you'll suffer internally.

Rarely, it can acquire some attribute points from its victim, if that victim is a living being.

Method of acquisition - Eat the most exotic things.

Echo Location: Allows the user to locate themselves as if using sonar.

Method of acquisition - Hard meditation training]

"Shh... System, why does it have attributes different from 1? And why does it have these skills? I don't think a Slime meditates. Eating, sure."

[The attributes of 1 as a base are something that only happens to humans, as you asked before.

As for the skills, certain beings are born with different abilities, even if they aren't tiered (Unique). This is the standard for the Slime species.]

"I see..."

With everything clarified, I decided to attack. Taking advantage of the surprise, I jumped from behind a bush and struck it with full force using my sword in a perfectly aligned vertical cut to its center.

The impact was so strong that a small crater formed: the enemy died without even realizing. I was startled by the loud sound, letting out a scream.

"Ah!"

"..."

Frozen in that position, the scream made me realize that my voice was extremely feminine. Even though I was talking to the system, I hadn't really paid attention to it.

"I guess I really became a girl, huh..."

[Congratulations! You defeated a Slime! You gained 10 Experience.]

[Current progress to level 2: 10/100]

[Congratulations! You killed a Slime for the first time. +5 Constitution.]

[Current Constitution: 36]

Looking down at the ground, I saw the remains of the slime...

"I'll want that Devourer skill later, just to be sure..."

I commented as I crouched, grabbing some of the slime remains with my free hand.

Then, lifting my helmet with the other, I swallowed. The taste wasn't that bad; it seemed like honey? Anyway, it would be better if there weren't dirt and dust mixed in.

"Blergh, gross!"

Rising, I continued. Throughout the forest, I killed some more monsters.

[Congratulations! You killed a Wild Dog for the first time! You gained 10 Experience!]

[Congratulations! You killed a Wild Dog for the first time! +5 Constitution!]

[Congratulations! You killed a Giant Eagle for the first time! You gained 10 Experience!]

[Congratulations! You killed a Giant Eagle for the first time! +5 Constitution!]

In the end, I had 40/100 experience and 46 Constitution. I also learned that there was a bestiary in the System. I could access it to see details about the skills and attributes of each monster I defeated or analyzed.

I noticed that the monsters stopped appearing. Intrigued, I decided to keep moving forward.

Then, my eyes caught something peculiar. There was a huge city in the distance. I could see various roads leading to the main gate. Merchants coming and going, guards...

While I was excited about the new experiences, I was also afraid of having to talk to other people. My body twisted with anxiety, giving me a strong urge to vomit.

Still, I walked towards the gate, praying that they would just see me as a passing adventurer and not question me too much.

Reaching the first on the line to enter, looking ahead with a proud posture, I crossed through the guards, their eyes stared at me intensely, until one of them decided to block my path with his spear. Then another did the same. The one who took the initiative stepped closer.

"Who are you? What's your rank in the guild? I've never seen you around here."

I decided to stay silent. After all, I'm a woman now. I'm not crazy enough to expose myself like that. Being followed, having my drink or food tampered with, and assaulted are the last things I want.

And, of course... there's the fact that I'm trembling terribly!

Talking to the system was one thing; talking to a living being was another!

"..."

Then the guard grew more irritated, grabbing my arm.

"I asked you a question. Are you an adventurer? Do you have a guild rank?"

I just nodded my head, signaling 'Yes.'

"Then show me... Are you stupid?"

The guard tried to pull me.

I could tell, because he exerted the most force he could, but still, I didn't even budge.

His face turned red, and he started sweating, huffing and puffing.

The people in line behind me started to watch, some of the female adventurers chuckling lightly.

Feeling embarrassed, he tried to pretend he was in control of the situation.

"I-I felt sorry for you, kid. Go ahead. I believe you."

And so, I left... But before, of course, I got curious. I analyzed him with a quick glance.

[Name: Taylor Hea

Age: 26

Level: 10 / Exp: 50/200

Gender: Male

Attributes: Constitution 21 / Vitality 1 / Dexterity 11 / Magic 1

Skills: Spear Soul, Ward (Unique), Swift Dash

Spear Soul: Allows the user to enchant their spear with their own life force, becoming one with the weapon. While activated, all decisions involving attack and defense are the best possible, significantly increasing their dexterity and constitution during this time.

Method of acquisition: intense spear training.

Ward (Unique): Taylor is naturally extremely resistant to curses and any being of a spiritual nature.

Swift Dash: Allows the user to dash extremely quickly from one place to another, as if teleporting. During this time, the user is immune to damage. It can be used twice in a row and once more every 10 dexterity points.

Method of acquisition: practicing jumps.]

'He's not weak. He even has a unique skill. It seems like there are some really capable people around here.'

Walking through the city, I was in awe of the architecture.

The birds flying above were different, some with four wings. Every street I passed reminded me that I was no longer on my home planet.

"Surely there must be a adventurer's guild or something here..."

Taking advantage of the large flow of people, I analyzed each one passing by me, trying to find something unique.

I received many stares in return, after all, I was, to them, a knight in armor who kept looking at them, even if only for a brief moment.

Until...

'Who is this guy?'

Looking at a beggar who was sadly sprawled on the ground, shirtless and without shoes, with long hair and beard, I was horrified.

[Name: Hermin Claude

Level: 1 / Exp: 0/100

Gender: Male

Attributes: Constitution 1 / Vitality 81920 / Dexterity 1 / Magic

Skills: Subhuman (Unique), Regenerator (Unique), Painless, Immunity

Subhuman (Unique): The more pain the user suffers, whether mental, psychological, or physical, the more their vitality increases. The amount varies depending on the level of trauma.

Regenerator (Unique): Increases longevity significantly.

No points can be placed in anything other than Vitality. Their regeneration cannot be hindered by anti-heal effects.

Painless: Allows the user to completely ignore pain.

Method of acquisition: endure inexplicable suffering.

Immunity: Immune to poisons.

Method of acquisition: apply most poisons.]

'System? Am I tripping?'

[No. Everything is correct.]

"Does that mean he regenerates 81920 times faster than a normal human?"

[Yes. Would you like examples?]

'Sure...'

[Superficial wounds: minor cuts, scratches, and bruises heal instantly, with cellular regeneration happening in less than 1 second.

Deep cuts: deeper cuts, such as those reaching muscles or bones, are healed in 1-2 seconds, with skin, tissues, and muscles regenerating in real time.

Severing of limbs (arms, legs): If a limb is severed, the regeneration not only reconnects the damaged tissues but also recreates the bones, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels perfectly in 10 to 30 seconds, depending on the severity of the injury.

Reconstruction of vital organs (heart, lungs...): Vital organs regenerate with the same efficiency.

A punctured heart or collapsed lungs would be restored in less than 30 seconds, with blood circulation and breathing returning to normal...]

'Okay, okay, I think I got it!'

'I think I should talk to him. An ally like him would be quite useful, especially since I'm so lost here.'

'Wait... Talk to him?'

...

I walked towards the man, who, in turn, noticed my presence and began to stare at me.

Our eyes met.
