Chapter 299: Unexpected Encounter
Leaving the club building, Sakurai Saki held the documents, preparing to return to the classroom area.
When he arrived at the student council room, he saw Shirogane Miyuki had finished his work and was sitting in the president's seat reading documents.
"What did you just go ask the principal about?"
"I'm holding two recommendation letters, so I asked the principal if it's possible to transfer a recommendation slot." Shirogane sighed, thriftiness ingrained in every drop of his blood — just thinking about losing a recommendation slot made him uncomfortable! Each year of Shuuchiin, the president gets one recommendation slot; but Shirogane had been president for two terms, so he had two slots.
"What was the result?"
"He said it's possible. But I can't find anyone for him to recommend." Shirogane looked up at Sakurai: "Sakurai, are you interested? It's not necessary to go abroad; within the country there are nine top universities you can enter without taking the kyōtsū test."
The kyōtsū test is the common entrance exam in January; after that, if you pass, you still have to take individual exams for each school in February, and the results and admissions are announced in March.
"Give it to Kaguya-san. For an exam that happens only once in a life like this, I've decided I want to try." Sakurai sat down on the sofa.
"As for Shinomiya, I already asked, and it seems she doesn't want it. She said this September, when I leave the school, she will snatch the president position." Just thinking about the student council having to endure a year under Shinomiya Kaguya's leadership, Shirogane already saw Shuuchiin's future as bleak.
"Then I will withdraw from the student council." Sakurai said seriously.
"You're joking too much." Shirogane thought he was joking.
"If you're not interested either, I'll ask Toyosaki if he's willing, Toyosaki hates trouble."
After that matter, the two of them talked about graduation.
"Last year's graduation season I didn't feel anything special, but this year I unexpectedly feel sad." The previous term's president, the one who had guided Shirogane, was also graduating this year.
Sakurai pictured what he was thinking. The other person valued memories and feelings.
Sakurai also glanced through the senpai he knew… hmm? It seemed there was no one he was really close to, so that was fine.
"Today the council room is really empty." Sakurai looked toward the door.
Miko-chan was fixing order after the chaos of the 'virus shojo', Chika was playing games, and… where did my girlfriend and Kaguya-san go?
…
Hallway.
"Miku, are we really going to the cooking practice room to make chocolate?" Nakano Nino and Nakano Miku headed toward the cooking room downstairs.
Today Nakano Itsuki went to the girls' basketball club, Ichika was filming, Itsuki went to buy new sweets at the shop across from Mita station. Shuuchiin is located around the Mita station area, Minato, Tokyo.
"Nino, you also plan to give chocolate, right? Right?" Miku turned her head to ask.
"Giri choco can just be store-bought."
"You know what I mean." Miku looked at Nino with beautiful eyes.
"I don't know." Nino started to play dumb.
Honestly, she didn't really want to prepare chocolate with her sisters, especially to give to Sakurai. But Nino worried about Miku; though Miku diligently practiced cooking, her actual skills were not good. For Sakurai's stomach, Nino had no choice but to accompany Miku.
But is it really necessary to make it at school? At home, though the equipment isn't complete, it's more reassuring.
The two approached the cooking practice room, quietly standing on tiptoe to peek inside to see if anyone was there. Using the room required registration, but it didn't say it could only be used when there were several people.
'Hayasaka-san and Vice President Shinomiya?' Nino's face turned cold.
Those two making chocolate? Oh my God!
Vice President Shinomiya also has someone she secretly likes?
Clearly, handmade chocolate that a girl makes is usually honmei.
'Maybe we should go back.' Nino glanced at Miku, seeing her step to the main door, knock, and then go straight in!
She actually dared to go in!!
She was really bold.
At Shuuchiin, Shinomiya Kaguya's authority was so great that few dared to get too close because of the difference in family status. The Nakano family had money, but compared to the billion-dollar Shinomiya family, the gap was huge. If they angered Kaguya, the Nakano family might be ruined! Nino hurriedly followed inside.
...
"Ai-chan, what do you think we should make? Chocolate cookies? Chocolate mousse? Or traditional chocolate?" Shinomiya couldn't decide.
"Giri choco can just be bought from a store, making it is exhausting." Hayasaka Ai really didn't want her boyfriend to receive something that was called giri on the outside but was actually honmei from Shinomiya. Kaguya was a tsundere—she said she wouldn't fight over a man, but in reality she wouldn't let go!
If I broke up, she'd probably jump right in! About this, maybe Secretary-chan also feels awkward?
Haa, full of foxes. Hayasaka Ai coldly laughed inside. She had to find time to drive all those foxes out of her boyfriend's heart, not leaving a single one!
But for now, she would indulge her best friend.
"How about chocolate cookies? People rarely think of them as honmei, but they show more thoughtfulness than giri." Hayasaka chose a compromise.
Humans always like compromise.
Shinomiya also nodded: "Good idea."
The cooking room had flour and some commonly used ingredients. When Kaguya was about to get the flour, the door opened and two girls stepped in, their hair and faces almost identical, differing only in manner, hairstyle, and accessories.
"Hello." Kaguya smiled: "What are you two here for?"
Not here to make chocolate too, right?
Those two were the Nakano sisters; Kaguya knew them but couldn't tell who was who. They weren't close, she only saw them together in the hallway.
"Chocolate." Miku answered calmly, showing no fear.
"You are Miku-san and Nino-san, right?" Hayasaka recognized them because Sakurai had taught her how to tell them apart: the one with headphones was Miku, star-shaped clip was Itsuki, bow clip was Nino, Ichika had short hair, Yotsuba had a bunny-ear headband. Of course, with their outfits it was easier to distinguish.
"What a coincidence, I'm also preparing to make chocolate for Saki-kun." Miku stepped in: "Let's do it together."
Hayasaka: "?"
Making it too?
