Chapter 506 - Bob and the [p]unfortunate first appearance of Aultork Nowok

"It's a relevant concern. Many things need to be taken into consideration. Rest assured, that we'll be doing everything we can... But can I just say... I want to point out that the current policies the opposition have proposed… they're likely to make things worse. …Really out of touch. Yes, I know. They're not really addressing the root of the issues…

"That's something we'll be looking to address in the future. Of course. Well. Any further questions?"

Aultork smoothed over his suit even as he smoothly [']answered['] the reporters' questions.

Ever since Des Potté, a leading figure and one of the most prominent politicians of Imadéis Up had gone… missing, [the full details of how this happened and the… feats that Desmond has 'accomplished' up to this point in the novel can be found in Chapters 142, 153-156, 170-177, 196-198 for easy reference 👀✨👣👠]

-he, Aultork Nowok, had perceived an… Opportunity.

A ploy… for a potential power-play in the Politicians' playground.

A scenario... for a suitable shifting in the Senate's social strata.

A 'hoisting-up' within the halls of House of Representatives' hierarchy…

All this was to say. That the disappearance of Desmond Potté from Imadeis Up's Political Arena, had made Aultork's future pastures suddenly seem considerably greener…

Aultork Nowok, as one might expect being a Transcendent Veteran Great Grandmaster reader of this novel, initially started off life in the hospitality industry, where he initially aspired to be a chef, after quickly skimming a bit over the exploits of the famous Rizzmaster Clarke Kent-Cooke, and thinking that why yes, that sounded rather… pleasant... except that unfortunately, he didn't own a wok.

As a result, he was unable to cook, and accordingly, he failed and was kicked out of his chef training.

[One could say that things hadn't… wokked out for him ✨]

[You're welcome 🤭✨🔥]

Yes. Indeed. This was all true top secret backstory. [Well in actual fact, Aultork described it somewhat differently, as a 'chosen career change' ... but that would have to be a conversation for another chapter...]

"…But… why didn't he just buy a wok?!?!"

One of the kind and good looking [probably planted] members in the Audience helpfully called out so Author could continue on in a seemingly seamless manner.

"Well. That would have required him to actually… do stuff."

"…"

"…? And?"

"Yeah. That's it."

"Oh."

Naturally of course, this rather strange (?) rationale was quite incomprehensible to the kind and good looking Audience members who were actually hard working and upright citizens [for the most part] that took pride in doing their part for their friends, families and communities [including of course giving their favourite webnovel Rizzmaster: The Adventures of Bob Powerstones on a regular basis whenever they could spare the time amidst their busy schedules… Oh!!?! Thank you for your Contribution !!! 🤭✨🔥💖🌻💫].

But at the same time, Aultork was, it seemed, one of those people that liked the veneer, the status, the trappings and appearance of 'success', and who found the actual substance, the 'getting there', and the 'grind' rather less… necess… ary 🫢✨.

After all, it was, in some sense, scary. "Doing things" required commitment. Taking responsibility… for a certain outcome, and result. It meant leaving oneself open, to potential personal insult... !

Accordingly, instead... It was far better to have someone else… more skilled, capable, to get things done - and then, once that particular battle was won… he would be able to take the credit if things went well, and if not, then at least *he* wouldn't be the one that would go through hell!!

Politics, therefore, had been the perfect fit, and Aultork had taken to the churning, muddy - oftentimes bloody - current like a fish to water!
