"If you want, you can find a comfortable place near here with me. This is the highest point of Poni Island, which makes it better for us to absorb light energy.

Also, Roy will help us if you're willing."

Lunala felt impatient at first, but in the end, he hesitated.

He had sensed what Solgaleo described the very first time he came here. However, because of certain past events, and because Lunala still harbored some hidden motives in his heart, he felt somewhat guilty when facing Roy and his Pokemon.

But now that Solgaleo was the first to propose this arrangement, it could be considered a solution to Lunala's urgent predicament.

Lunala said that he would think about it, spread his wings, and departed.

However, the way he stumbled through the air suggested that his injuries had not fully healed yet.

Roy raised his head and watched the figure that could block out the sunlight itself.

"Did you tell him what I asked you to say?"

Solgaleo, having completed the task Roy had assigned to him, was naturally eager to receive praise.

He shook his head with a charming expression.

"Leo~"

Of course! I listened to your words and didn't tell him anything extra!

Roy rubbed the big lion's head with satisfaction. He had to admit, the texture of Solgaleo's mane really was quite pleasant.

"That's perfect. I'm guessing he'll be here tonight."

Roy deduced from the fact that Lunala hadn't outright rejected Solgaleo's offer that this would be the case.

Solgaleo nodded, not questioning Roy's assessment in the slightest.

Even last night, when Roy had suddenly made this prediction, Solgaleo had been somewhat confused.

But when he actually saw Lunala's pitifully small amount of light energy this morning, the scales of his trust had tilted completely toward Roy.

Roy's eyes flashed with curiosity as he looked at Solgaleo, but he simply smiled without saying anything aloud.

In truth, this was something that could be deduced fairly easily.

The situation with Lunala and Solgaleo was identical. Both could absorb light anytime and anywhere, converting it into their own energy.

Although Roy wasn't entirely clear about the exact mechanism involved, he attributed it to something like "divine power" for the time being.

However, regardless of whose power it was, operating this mechanism required a body capable of running it properly.

For instance, it was like installing a certain operating system on incompatible hardware. Even if the software was perfect and the equipment was high-end, there would be no way for it to run smoothly.

Lunala's situation was similar to this scenario.

The difference, however, was that as Lunala's injuries gradually healed, the system would run more and more smoothly until it returned to its peak condition.

Roy hoped that day would come soon, but at the same time, he also hoped it would arrive a bit later.

"Oh man, what complex creatures we are."

Roy sighed to himself.

Solgaleo circled around Roy without understanding why, looking rather lazy, as if inadvertently urging something.

Roy laughed out loud at Solgaleo's expectant expression.

"I know, I know."

Then he retrieved a large quantity of energy cubes from his bag, along with several Max Revives and various other berries scattered throughout.

Some of them had already been sampled by Lucario, so Roy knew what they tasted like.

For example, the sour and somewhat unpleasant Oran Berry.

And the Mago Berry, which had a scent reminiscent of mango.

There were also some berries that none of Roy's other Pokemon had tried yet, so he didn't know their taste, such as the green Kebia Berry.

These items were actually quite useless to Solgaleo in terms of practical benefits.

The purpose of giving them was simply to satisfy Solgaleo's appetite and curiosity.

After all, Roy had promised Solgaleo that he would treat him to a proper feast.

Sure enough, after witnessing what other "treasures" Roy produced from that seemingly magical bag, Solgaleo was no longer surprised by the bag's contents.

Instead, he stared at the food with bright, eager eyes while his mouth began secreting saliva.

Roy handed the bag to Solgaleo and said, "Go eat this somewhere private. We'll be leaving in a little while."

Solgaleo grabbed the bag carefully in his mouth, nodded solemnly, and then ran off quickly to somewhere unknown.

Ninetales flicked her beautiful tails and watched Solgaleo hurrying away in a rather peculiar manner.

How strange. Why is that guy so energetic and hasty today?

However, since all the surrounding teammates were training seriously, Ninetales only observed for a few moments before returning to her own leisurely training routine.

Oh well, no need to work too hard. I haven't properly groomed my fur today anyway.

While Solgaleo was hiding in a secluded spot, eating and drinking contentedly, Lunala, who was also a Legendary-level Pokemon, was not receiving such favorable treatment.

Simply flying back to the cave he had chosen near the black tower was already a difficult feat for Lunala in his current state.

Lunala retreated into the depths of the cave, concealing himself in the darkness for protection.

Suddenly, he felt a tearing pain, as if something was being ripped apart. It wasn't particularly intense, but for Lunala, who had nothing to distract himself with right now, it was a very noticeable sensation.

Lunala looked down, and sure enough, the wound on his wing that had been only half-healed yesterday had cracked open again because of his earlier bravado.

Lunala had no choice. Now he could only hide in the cave and tend to his wound in silence, hoping to speed up the healing process.

However, judging from the current results, the outcome was far from ideal.

At this moment, Solgaleo's invitation couldn't help but resurface in his mind.

Because of his physical injuries, he had absorbed light extremely slowly throughout the night, to say nothing of the light that could actually be successfully converted into usable energy.

On the way there this morning, Lunala had still been trying to figure out how to explain away his minimal energy output.

But he hadn't expected that fool to have already thought up an excuse on his behalf.

Really, eating and drinking with that human has made him so foolishly naive.

In Lunala's heart, he felt envious of Solgaleo's good fortune, while simultaneously wanting to destroy everything so that his counterpart, who shared the same species, could also taste the same pain he had experienced.

Yet at the same time, he understood that doing so would be completely pointless. The pain had already been endured, and experiencing it wouldn't make it disappear.

Everyone suffered the same in the end.

Lunala gazed at the light filtering in from outside the cave entrance and thought about that structure he had never seen before—the black tower.

Maybe I should just go and observe what that idiot does there every day.

I'm merely going to gather intelligence. Once I'm healthy again, I'll defeat him completely, and then eliminate all the Pokemon and humans in this place!

Lunala's eyes narrowed slightly, feeling very satisfied with his plan.

This time it will definitely work!
