Chapter 11 - Chap 10: Home

Ascil looked at the blue face floating in the dark space, his voice low but firm:

"Alright, my wish… is to rest in peace in my homeland. Do you agree?"

The other person paused for a moment, then burst out laughing — the laughter echoed in the void as if mocking, but also as if… understanding.

"Is that all? Ridiculous. For someone who holds magical power, you can have everything, become anyone, rewrite the fate of the world… And you choose… rest?"

It shook its head, its eyes glowing like emeralds in the endless darkness.

"…But anyway, it is your wish."

With just a slight snap, no sound, no dazzling light, everything disappeared as if it had never existed.

Ascil opened his eyes.

In front of him was a familiar hill, where kites once flew in the blue sky when he was young. White clouds drifted, the wind carried the scent of the fields. In the distance, wind chimes tinkled on the eaves of an old house.

No more battlefields. No more gods. No more miracles.

Ascil slowly walked towards that house. His heart was as light as the wind — not because he had left everything behind, but because… he had lived enough.

And this time, he could truly… call this place home.
