Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Village II

The day after, I got woken up by Lingo. I was disoriented. I almost forgot where I was. But I quickly remembered.

I looked at him; he handed me a bunch of clothes and made signs for me to wear them. The clothes were covered in holes, but hey, I wasn't even invited here. I couldn't complain.

After I put them on, I got out of my house and saw Lingo with a bow, arrows and a spear. I told him " You're going hunting ? ", but of course the answer was " Huh ? ". I forgot again. He couldn't understand me. He made some signs, and I understood that we had to go together.

To set the basics first. The village of Anza was a village of hunters and farmers. It wasn't capitalist. If you hunt and find a big enough animal, you share it with others. There wasn't really any money. I mean there was some, but only for trade outside of the village. Inside, it was only exchange.

As I was saying, we went hunting. But before, I started praying. I wasn't dumb. I knew that when I prayed, I was protected... Except for that day.

I prayed all the way to the woods. I prayed at least ten to fifteen times. When there, Lingo told me to stop and to shut up. We were scouting.

After something of twenty minutes, we saw a small animal. A Pangolin. You know, the small animal with scales on its back, tail and paws. It also turns itself into a " ball " when in danger. I think you should know about it.

So, Lingo went straight for it. He grabbed it, since they aren't that fast. When it turned into a ball, he just grabbed its head and broke his neck.

I was just baffled at how he could kill such an innocent looking animal. I guess they're built different, because I wasn't seeing any emotions, except for satisfaction. He held it by the tail and showed it to me as if it were a trophy.

I couldn't help but feel a bit jealous. How could he do that so casually? I had to do the same.

We continued with the scouting. We then saw something that looked like an antelope but with forward-pointing horns. It looked dangerous, but I was determined to kill it.

You see the it coming, right?

Without even telling, I grabbed Lingo's bow and three arrows, dashed to the animal and started firing like a madman. I guess he didn't quite like it. I thought it would start running and I would chase after it...

Yeah, he was really dumb. I'll give you that.

But it did the opposite. It just went straight for my chest. Just as I tried to dodge, because these kind of animals are really fast, its horns just ripped through my left side like butter. Not even adrenaline was going to save me from the pain.

It went back to me and when it wanted to finish me on the ground, Lingo stabbed it with his spear and finished it off with a knife from his pocket.

I was still baffled. That thing was a hundred kilos minimum!

Looks like your plot armor subscription ran out ahaha! Also, to be honest, that wound was actually nasty to look at. And I wanted cover my eyes. I mean I don't have any eyes nor any hands but... Anyway, it's not the point.

Since it wasn't on the program to hunt such a big animal, Lingo had to go back and call people to help him carry it. However, I was there, all useless, wounded, almost cryin- I meant leaning against a tree, all calm.

He told me to wait, but if there was any predator, I was finished. But in the end , nothing actually happened.

Lingo went back with two muscular men and they carried the animal like it was nothing! I still think that these people are built different. I don't know what's in their genes, but I want to have it.

Back at the village, after the perfect scolding I received from Lingo, thank goodness I couldn't understand it, he brought me to a house which was near Lingo's house. It was a woman's house. I will never forget her face. She was a traditional healer.

Lingo left me outside of her house and called her. Her name was Ngala, if I remember correctly. But she was often colled " Mama " since she was relatively old compared to us. And she was Lingo's aunt too. In this village, an aunt is seen as a second mother. Honestly, it made perfect sense.

When she came, she gave me something that looked like a leather strap.

Hehehe...

*member of the crowd: Were you sitting on the ground or laying down?"

I was sitting on a traditional circular chair which had no back nor armrest. It was called a " Zebi " if I remember correctly. They were made out of woven vines.

So, she went behind her house and went back with a bunch of leaves and flowers.

Hehehehahahaha...

She took a pot, lit a fire and put all these into it, with water. I was sitting there like a little goat, waiting for its execution ahaha!

Mwahahahah!

After it was hot, she took a little sample, looked at the color, and stopped the fire. She then looked at me and smiled.

Pfffahahahaha!

She took a cup, held me by the hand and we went inside her house. I saw that people were gathering in front of the door. She was telling them to move but they didn't understand, mostly little kids.

She then took the strap she gave me earlier and put it in my mouth.

I will never forget that moment...

AHAHAHAHAHA!

She put a little bit of that mixture inside my wound and that thing stings and burns like hell!! But I couldn't let myself cry again... Huh I mean I didn't cry before, I couldn't cry. So, I just managed not to cry I definitely screamed. I almost left my teeth on that strap!

That woman was sadistic, ahaha! She continued adding more even when he was screaming for his life! It was so funny to look ahaha! ( I think I might be sadistic too...)

After that, people were hyping me up. I think I was the only person who didn't cry when receiving this treatment, and people cried for less serious wounds. I took it with pride

Surprisingly, this is the truth. He didn't cry. Rare moment of real info from that guy.

After eating, I went back to my house, prayed and slept. It was only my second day and it was already exhausting, and I already had a long lasting wound. What an anchor I was. It was only the beginning of a long journey.

I didn't know it yet, but I was going to have my first scar.

Oh, when I said " slept " I was exaggerating. That pain was no joke. Felt like I was about to spill if I leaned on my left side. And not forgetting about the mosquitoes ahhh! And the heat too! But it's only a detail.

I was feeling a little bad for him after.

By the way, that treatment isn't immediately effective.
