Chapter 272 - 272. The Shinobi World Steps Onto the Path of Peace!

◉◉◉◉◉

Neji plucked the Sharingan from Obito's eye socket.

Beside him, the floating Rinnegan drifted down and embedded itself into Obito's hollowed eye.

A trail of blood trickled from Obito's cheek as his hands, stiff and trembling, began forming seals.

[Rinne Rebirth]

A colossal King of Hell erupted behind him, jaws yawning open.

Souls countless, green, ghostly streaks rained from its mouth like a sudden storm.

Bodies reformed across the battlefield.

Shinobi blinked awake in confusion, their last memories still frozen at the moment of death.

One after another, life returned.

But Obito's own body withered hair bleaching white, skin sinking like dried bark.

Neji turned away from him and swept his hand downward.

The Ten-Tails vanished into a seal—he had no interest in becoming its jinchūriki. Locking it away was enough.

He strode to Naruto and Killer Bee.

With a single motion, he pulled Kurama and Gyūki out of their bodies then restored the missing essence so neither man would die from the removal.

Some revived.

Some did not.

The Fourth Raikage, long dead, did not return.

The Edo Tensei shinobi did not return they had been truly erased by Neji during the golden purge.

Only those who died in the recent battle were restored.

The Ancient Dead had no place in the new world.

Obito slumped to his knees. His life was fading like smoke.

Neji caught the falling Rinnegan, glanced at it, and swallowed it whole.

The new era did not need another Rinnegan.

Without the Sage's blessing, Sasuko could walk no further than the Mangekyō.

Neji intended it that way.

"Only in the instant before death do people understand what they cherish.

Only then do they awaken to the truth of peace."

"That's enough. The rest is cleanup."

He lifted his gaze toward the sky the horizon was paling. Dawn is creeping in.

A war that lasted a single day and night had finally ended.

All around, the revived shinobi wept, embraced, and celebrated.

But the strongest among them the Kage, the legendary fighters watched the man who remained after the King of Hell faded:

The masked figure known as "Chakra."

He looked over the Kage once more.

"Cherish the peace ahead. This world has no need for war."

And with that, Neji vanished.

Instantly.

The Kage recoiled, scanning with every sense, but found nothing.

He was simply gone.

Ordinary shinobi let out relieved sobs.

But the leaders felt only dread.

If this man ever returned with hostility…

…nothing in the world could stop him.

And Neji intended them to know that.

The threat kept them grounded. Humble. Controlled.

With the Tailed Beasts sealed away, and no more jinchūriki, the world could no longer gamble with apocalyptic weapons.

Within days, a Five-Kage Summit convened.

---

Several Weeks Later

Peace washed across the continent.

Borders quieted.

Old disputes shrank into mere arguments rather than open conflict.

Then, something stranger:

Smartphones.

Mysterious devices appeared across every country one for nearly every household.

Each bore the emblem of a golden lotus the mark of D-Organization.

News, information, maps, communication—everything flowed through the devices.

Distance ceased to matter.

The world had become connected.

Even stranger events followed:

The vast desert of Wind Country began shrinking as rain was redirected by unexplainable new rivers.

The wasteland that once marked the Allied Battlefield was now a thriving forest, sprouting seemingly overnight.

Borders softened, trade grew, arguments faded.

People debated endlessly online through the new network, marveling (and worrying) at the world's sudden changes.

---

Beyond the World — In Space

Neji floated high above the planet, wrapped in shimmering green Tenseigan chakra.

He stared at the world below, then began forming hand seals.

The satellite array he created weeks earlier once a communications mesh now served its true purpose:

A planetary barrier.

"Begin."

A colossal dome of chakra enveloped the entire world.

From space, the once-green planet dimmed appearing barren, lifeless, uninviting.

The signal signature of the planet was erased.

Its cosmic coordinates sealed.

No Otsutsuki would find this world now not unless they already possessed a stellar map.

The game board had been hidden entirely.

Neji's attention then shifted to the moon.

He pierced the surface with his sight.

Inside, Ōtsutsuki Toneri stared back, tense as a spring.

Neji smiled faintly.

"Relax. Keep watching the world if you want—your eyes can still pierce the barrier."

He snapped his fingers.

A smartphone and a pair of new synthetic eyes materialized before Toneri.

Instructions slid into the moon-dweller's mind like whispers.

Then Neji vanished.

Toneri's muscles finally relaxed.

He examined the gifts of the eyes, the device, curiosity winning over instinct.

He installed the eyes, blinked away the dryness, and tapped the phone's screen.

---

On Earth

Neji sensed the activation of Toneri's phone.

He chuckled.

"Still a shut-in. Next time I'll send him a computer and some games."

Walking the busy Konoha street, he held Hinata's and Hanabi's hands—his first moment of peace since the war.

But rest wasn't now.

Two years from now, maybe.

He still had one final revenge to settle.

Neji looked toward the newly formed Dimensional Gate, scheduled to fully manifest in a few days.

He would enter it.

He would find them.

And he would repay the debt they owed him.

Neji was not a forgiving man.
