Chapter 5 - chapter-5

Hazel stood in front of the mirror,

murmuring angrily under her breath while trying to clean her stained uniform with a handful of tissues.

Lucas casually walked into the washroom,

leaning coolly against the door frame with a smirk.

Lucas (grinning like a devil):

"Need any help, pretty one?"

Hazel slowly turned her head and gave him a smile so fake,

it looked like she might stab him with her eyes.

Hazel (gritting her teeth):

"Ohhh... First you guys SPLIT WATER on my face... and now COFFEE??

What next? A milkshake shower?"

Lucas (hands up in defense, trying not to laugh):

"Oh nooo! I swear on my last piece of pizza — the water wasn't me! I had no part in that!"

Hazel narrowed her eyes like a hunter ready to kill.

Hazel (mockingly sweet):

"Ohhh reallllyyyyyyy?"

Before Lucas could blink —

Hazel punched him right on the cheek!

Lucas (grabbing his face dramatically):

"AAAAAaaaa–"

(He literally made a dying seal noise.)

His cheek instantly started turning red, like a tomato getting sunburnt.

Hazel (coolly, while fixing her hair):

"If you EVER feel like spilling something on me again..."

(She leaned closer and whispered.)

"Just remember THIS."

She tapped his forehead playfully (like she's marking him for death) and casually walked out of the washroom like nothing even happened,

her fake sweet smile back on her face.

Meanwhile, Lucas stood there, completely defeated,

holding his poor red cheek,

blinking in slow motion like a broken robot.

Lucas (muttering to himself, wounded and confused):

"Bro... she's small but she's built like a truck..."

He then slowly limped out, trying to hide his bruised ego and his red cheek,

ready to get roasted by his friends.

Lucas slowly walked back to his gang,

his hand casually covering his poor red cheek,

pretending like nothing happened — but everyone noticed.

Zayn saw it first —

his eyes widened, but he immediately pretended not to notice,

putting on an innocent face.

Zayn (grinning evilly):

"Broooo, why's your cheek so red?

Wait– don't tell me..."

(he gasped dramatically)

"Did Hazel kiss you??"

Everyone turned their heads instantly,

and the roasting began.

Levi (bursting out laughing):

"Whaaat?? A kiss so powerful it slapped the blood outta you??"

Drake (pretending to be serious):

"Damn Lucas, you fall in love way too fast... one coffee spill and you're proposing already?"

Ben (laughing while eating chips):

"Bro didn't even get rejected... he got ejected!"

Caleb (shaking his head, fake disappointment):

"Shame, man. First date and you already got domestic violence experience."

Lucas (gritting his teeth, yelling):

"IT WASN'T A KISS!!

SHE PUNCHED ME, OKAY??!!"

Zayn (faking shock, hands over mouth):

"Nooooo, not my future sister-in-law! She's so violent!"

Levi (patting Lucas's shoulder, acting like a sad uncle):

"It's okay bro... every love story has a little violence. Some just start with a left hook instead of a hug."

Lucas (groaning and facepalming):

"I swear if you guys don't shut up, I'm gonna–"

Zayn (interrupting with a big grin):

"—Go cry in the washroom where you got punched into a new personality?"

Everyone literally burst into laughter,

while Lucas just stood there defeated,

holding his bruised dignity together

As Hazel walked toward her classroom, the bell rang just in time.

The classroom doors flew open as students rushed in —

the chaotic bustle filling the hallways. She barely glanced at them, moving to her seat.

She sat down, rolling her eyes in the most dramatic way possible,

taking out her books and pretending to focus on anything but what was about to happen.

Just then, Ethan walked in, looking like he had found a new purpose in life.

He sat next to her, clearly not fazed by her cold, unbothered vibe.

He cleared his throat, looking at her like he was finally going to be serious about this.

Ethan (nervously, but with determination):

"Okay, so... I never got your name."

(He smiled, not giving up.)

"Seriously... What's your name?"

Hazel (without looking at him, deadpan):

"I'm busy. Don't disturb me."

Ethan (laughing lightly):

"Come onnn, what's with the attitude? I just want to know your name."

Hazel (finally glancing at him with a small smirk, mocking his persistence):

"My name? It's 'Don't Bother Me'."

(she raised her eyebrow)

"Does that ring any bells?"

Ethan (faking shock, leaning in closer):

"Wow, 'Don't Bother Me'... is that a nickname or a government name?"

Hazel (glaring at him with a mischievous smile):

"Well, it's the name you should remember...

Now go ahead and impress me with your next line."

Ethan (smiling, not giving up):

"You know, persistence is key. You'll see."

(He winked, but Hazel just shook her head and went back to her. Acting like she didn't care about.)

As Hazel was zoning out in her seat, a student called her name loudly:

Student:

"Hazel! Miss Serina is calling you. She's waiting for you in the office."

Hazel blinked and looked up, slightly annoyed but not surprised. She got up without a second thought, grabbed her bag, and headed towards the door.

As she passed by Ethan's desk, Ethan finally allowed himself a small victory smile, feeling like he'd just won some sort of mental battle. He finally got her name.

Ethan (under his breath, trying to hide his smug grin):

"Well, Hazel... It was nice to finally know your name."

Hazel (with a sly, almost teasing smile, glancing back at him):

"Happy now? Don't get too excited, though. You won't get that lucky again."

And with that, she walked out of the classroom, leaving Ethan staring after her, his grin still lingering.

The moment was short-lived, but to him, it was like a small win in this never-ending game of getting under her skin.

Hazel walked into the office, where Miss Serina handed her a pile of question papers with a serious expression.

Miss Serina (smiling gently):

"Hazel, please distribute these to all the students. Tell them to answer the questions. I have a meeting, but I'll be back soon."

Hazel (nodding, accepting the papers without much interest):

"Got it, Miss."

With that, Miss Serina walked away, leaving Hazel alone with the stack of papers. Hazel didn't even flinch at the request. It was just another typical school task for her, one that didn't require too much effort.

She sighed and walked out of the office, papers in hand, heading towards her classroom. As she entered, the class was already starting to get a little noisy. Hazel couldn't care less, and she immediately began handing out the papers to everyone.

Hazel (with a slight roll of her eyes):

"Here's the quiz. Answer it. Don't ask me anything."

The students, some groaning and others muttering about the work, began to take the papers from her. Hazel walked back to her seat, not bothering to engage in the chatter, and sat down with her arms crossed, zoning out again.

Some students started whispering to each other, complaining about the surprise quiz, but Hazel didn't let it bother her. She just leaned back in her chair and let them handle it while she spaced out, letting the classroom atmosphere wash over her.

Ethan, sitting behind Hazel, couldn't stop trying to get her attention. He leaned forward slightly, his voice coming out in a low, teasing tone.

Ethan (calling her name over and over):

"Hazel... Hazel... Hey, Hazel! Can you hear me?"

Hazel, who had been half asleep and trying to ignore him, finally sighed dramatically, turning her head just enough to give him a side-eye.

Hazel (groaning):

"What now, Ethan?"

Ethan (grinning widely):

"Just wanted to know... what's your deal? You don't talk much. Are you always this quiet, or is it just me?"

Hazel (rolling her eyes, not interested):

"Can you stop calling my name? I'm really not in the mood."

But Ethan wasn't giving up that easily. He kept trying to get her attention, calling her name more persistently, which only made Hazel more annoyed. She was already tired of his constant questioning.

Ethan (leaning even closer, teasing):

"I bet you're just shy, huh? You're not that quiet when you're mad at people, right?"

Hazel (half-smiling, sarcastically):

"Keep dreaming, Ethan. I'm not in the mood for your games right now."

Ethan chuckled at her sarcasm, clearly enjoying annoying her. But Hazel, despite herself, couldn't help but be amused by his persistence. He was relentless, but she wasn't interested.

As the last bell rang, students quickly rushed out of the classroom, eager to leave for the day. Hazel, as usual, walked with her head down towards the bus stop, trying to avoid all the noise and chaos around her.

Meanwhile, Lucas was trying his best not to make eye contact with anyone, especially Hazel. He was still nursing his red cheek from her punch earlier, and it made him feel completely defeated. He could barely walk without feeling the sting of his earlier mistake.

Ben (teasing loudly):

"Hey Lucas, you gonna show your face today or are you gonna keep hiding it from Hazel?"

Zayn (laughing, throwing his arm around Lucas' shoulder):

"Come on, man, don't act like she didn't just turn you into a human punching bag! What's next? Are you gonna make her a friendship bracelet to say sorry?"

Lucas (mumbling, still embarrassed):

"Shut up, guys... It wasn't that bad."

Ben (laughing even harder):

"Wasn't that bad? Your face is still red, dude! You really got wrecked by a girl! That's hilarious!"

Zayn (mockingly):

"Come on, Lucas, you know you're a real softie for her now. You gonna text her? Send a heart emoji or something?"

Lucas (gritting his teeth):

"Can you guys just... stop? She's bastard"

Ben and Zayn burst into laughter, unable to stop teasing him about how Lucas got "taken down" by Hazel. Meanwhile, Lucas just kept his head low, trying to avoid eye contact with anyone, especially her. He could hear their laughter echoing behind him, but he knew he had to face the consequences of messing with Hazel—at least for today.

Meanwhile hazel reached her home, she opened the door of her house, greeted by the usual silence. Her aunt was nowhere to be seen. She casually walked over to the fridge, pulled out a chocolate bar, and started eating it. The sweetness of the chocolate was a small comfort in the midst of the chaos her life seemed to be.

Suddenly, the door creaked open, and her aunt stepped inside. Her eyes immediately locked onto Hazel, who was happily munching on the chocolate.

Aunt (fuming):

"What do you think you're doing? Who told you to eat my chocolate? That's for me, not you!"

Hazel didn't even look up, taking another bite. She rolled her eyes as she casually wiped her hands on her pants and set the chocolate wrapper aside.

Hazel (nonchalantly):

"Excuse me? It's my parents' money, not your husband's. You know, the one who doesn't even care about me. So I think I can eat whatever I want."

Her aunt's face turned red with frustration, clearly about to explode, but Hazel wasn't finished. She stood up, tossed the chocolate wrapper into the trash, and plopped down onto the couch in front of the TV.

Aunt (sharply):

"Don't you dare talk to me like that, Hazel. You have no respect for anything. Your parents are busy with their work, and I'm the one who has to take care of you. And this is how you repay me?"

Hazel (calmly, with a slight smirk):

"Oh, really? Well, if you're so bothered by it, maybe you should just stop taking care of me. Wouldn't be the first time people left me to fend for myself."

Her aunt glared at her, taking a deep breath to try and keep her temper in check, but Hazel didn't care. She reached for the remote, switching on the TV and settling in as if nothing had happened.

Aunt (clenching her fists):

"You're impossible, you know that? One day you'll realize how much I've done for you!"

Hazel didn't respond. She simply leaned back on the couch, scrolling through her phone, ignoring her aunt's angry mutterings as the silence settled in the room once more. Her aunt stood there for a moment longer, her mouth open in disbelief, before storming off to another room, leaving Hazel in peace once again.

Hazel (under her breath, sarcastic):

"Yeah, sure, one day I'll realize..."

The sun rose lazily over the city, and a new day began—but of course, not without chaos.

At Drake's place, Ben and Caleb were literally wrestling over the last piece of toast.

Ben (mouth full):

"That's mine, you donut!"

Caleb (grabbing it):

"You snooze, you lose, loser!"

Before it escalated to a WWE match, Drake stepped in with a sigh, pulling the toast from Caleb and splitting it in half.

Drake:

"You two fight like toddlers. Eat, get dressed, and don't forget we've got plans today."

All of them got ready, excitedly hyping up whatever mischievous mission they had already planned. Levi honked the car impatiently from the front. They all jumped in, the energy buzzing with mischief.

Meanwhile...

Hazel was sitting quietly in the school bus, window seat as always, scrolling through her phone. Beside her, a sweet old lady was knitting something peacefully.

Suddenly, SCREEEECH!

The bus jerked to a stop.

Hazel looked up, raising an eyebrow. Outside the window, a car was parked directly in front of the bus, blocking the way.

Hazel (under her breath):

"Oh great... the idiots are here."

Sure enough, Drake, Zayn, Ben, Caleb, Levi, and Lucas were walking toward the bus like they owned the city. The bus driver looked ready to fight someone.

They began scanning the passengers like predators on a hunt. Hazel, without flinching, rolled her eyes and went back to scrolling her phone like none of this was her business.

Zayn's eyes lit up when he spotted her.

Zayn (grinning):

"Target locked."

Before Hazel could react, he grabbed her by the waist, hoisted her over his shoulder like a sack of rice.

Hazel (kicking):

"PUT ME DOWN YOU FREAK—!"

Zayn (laughing):

"Nah, you look lighter than your attitude."

Drake casually leaned on the bus doorframe.

Drake (smirking):

"Aah boys, we got what we came for. Let's roll."

The boys burst into laughter as they strolled back to their car, Zayn still carrying a very outraged Hazel over his shoulder. Levi opened the door, and Zayn threw her inside (gently... sort of). She landed on the seat with a loud huff.

And then, Lucas slipped in right next to her—unintentionally, but the timing was perfection for chaos.

Lucas (awkward smile):

"Uhh... hey, again."

Hazel glared at him, arms crossed, expression screaming "I will end you."

Ben (teasing):

"Lucas brooo, you're sitting next to your puncher again!"

Caleb:

"Careful! She's got fists of fury and no chill."

Levi:

"Should we stop somewhere and buy you a helmet, Lucas?"

Zayn (laughing):

"He already got the red mark, next time might be a black eye!"

Lucas (sarcastic):

"Thanks for the love, guys. Really feeling the support here."

Hazel didn't say a word. She just gave Lucas a tight fake smile, then scooted all the way to the edge of the seat, practically clinging to the car door like she could phase through it.

Drake (from the front seat):

"Let's go before she finds a way to jump out."

And with that, Levi hit the gas—and off they went, with Hazel mentally preparing a hit list.

The chaos continued as they all squeezed into the car—Hazel, now the center of the chaos tornado, was jammed right in the middle of the backseat.

To her left: Ben, leaning a bit too close.

To her right: Lucas, trying not to breathe too loudly.

And next to him: Zayn, laughing like he's watching a live comedy show.

Levi had taken shotgun this time, chilling with his sunglasses on.

And behind the wheel... was Drake.

Hazel (muttering):

"I'm literally in a sandwich of idiots."

Ben (grinning):

"Aww Hazel, don't be shy. This is VIP seating."

Lucas (side-glancing):

"Yeah, Very Irritated Passenger."

Zayn (laughing):

"Guys, look at her! She's holding her breath like one of us is contagious."

Hazel didn't say a word. She just slowly leaned her head back, stared at the roof, and whispered to herself:

Hazel:

"This is how villains are born."

Meanwhile, Drake turned up the music and looked at the rearview mirror.

Drake (smirking):

"Buckle up, Hazel. It's going to be a long ride."

Levi (to Drake):

"You're lucky she doesn't carry pepper spray."

Ben (giggling):

"She's too classy for that. She punches with elegance."

Hazel shot Ben a death glare so sharp, he flinched dramatically and raised both hands.

Ben:

"Okay okay! I'm shutting up. But admit it, Hazel, you love us."

Hazel (deadpan, eyes still on the roof):

"Like I love stepping on Legos."

The car erupted in laughter, and poor Hazel was stuck, jammed between chaos—again.
