Volume 3 Chapter 30 / Chapter 196: The Protagonist, a Strange Asura Field

Two streets away—

Feng Yudie had said she was going to look around the city, but in reality, she had no clue where to start, so she wandered around the market aimlessly, hoping for a chance encounter.

When she reached a tavern, she suddenly smelled the aroma of roasted chicken and turned her head, leading Yun Jiujiu and two disciples from Jiuquan Peak towards it.

Although the tavern door was still open and there were many customers eating and chatting inside, everyone was quite anxious due to the market lockdown, fearing they might get into trouble.

Seeing Feng Yudie leading a large group in, everyone in the tavern instantly held their breath.

Feng Yudie walked to the counter and raised an eyebrow at the shopkeeper inside, saying:

"Shopkeeper, pack a roasted chicken for me."

?

Buying roasted chicken at a time like this?

The shopkeeper had initially thought they were here for questioning and was quite nervous.

Hearing Feng Yudie's request, he was stunned.

Seeing him not move, Yun Jiujiu raised her hand and slapped the counter:

"Didn't you hear? Pack a roasted chicken!"

The shopkeeper, frightened and sweating, ordered his assistant, "Alright. Little Liu! Go to the kitchen and pack a roasted chicken."

After the assistant packed the roasted chicken, Feng Yudie tossed two spirit stones, turned, and led Yun Jiujiu and the others out, continuing to wander the streets.

The two Jiuquan Peak disciples following behind Feng Yudie and Yun Jiujiu couldn't help but whisper to each other:

"Aren't we here to catch someone? Why does this feel like a stroll?"

"Hey, we're just following orders. Whatever Sister Jiujiu says, we do. Why worry?"

"Don't you think Sister Jiujiu is awfully polite to Young Master Feng? She's never treated anyone else like this. Do you think she might...?"

"Like him? No way, Young Master Feng isn't her type."

Hearing this, Yun Jiujiu's ears twitched.

She turned around, frowning, and scolded:

"What are you two babbling about?"

"Ah... we were just wondering, isn't Young Master Feng here to search for someone? Why does it feel like we're just wandering?"

Yun Jiujiu paused: That seems right.

So she looked at Feng Yudie and asked, "Brother Yu, what are we doing?"

Feng Yudie took a bite of the chicken leg and asked in return:

"Then tell me, where should we search?"

Yun Jiujiu put her hands on her hips and repeated, "Yeah! Where should we search?"

"... ..."

The two disciples were speechless, awkwardly bowing their heads.

At that moment, a golden-haired inner disciple of the Shadowmoon Sword Sect suddenly burst out from an alley ahead.

His face was pale, and he was clutching his left hand, with blood dripping from his sleeve, looking like he had just escaped from a life-or-death situation.

He looked around frantically and happened to lock eyes with Feng Yudie and her group.

Seeing Yun Jiujiu, he ran towards them, shouting:

"Second—Second Young Mistress, save me!! Someone is chasing me!!"

Yun Jiujiu squinted her eyes, sizing him up.

Seeing he was indeed an inner disciple, she frowned and looked towards the alley he had just come from.

Just then, a girl with long dark brown hair emerged from the alley, holding a blood-stained sword.

Her steps were light, and her sword was bloodied.

Feng Yudie immediately recognized her as her junior sister, Pei Lengxue.

She had become even more beautiful in the few days they hadn't seen each other.

But Feng Yudie quickly realized that if this person was being chased by Pei Lengxue, there must be something wrong with him.

Swish—

Feng Yudie immediately summoned her spirit sword from her storage bag, placing it against the neck of the man seeking help.

"You—"

However, just as she began to speak, a loud bang interrupted her.

Boom—

Yun Jiujiu stepped forward, shattering the stone tiles beneath her feet.

In the blink of an eye, she flashed in front of Pei Lengxue.

Spiritual energy formed waves around her small fist, but Pei Lengxue's expression remained unchanged.

Clang—

Pei Lengxue raised her sword to block, sparks flying as the sword and fist collided.

She seemed unprepared for the force of the punch, her feet sliding back several feet before she adjusted her stance to steady herself.

"You're the thief, aren't you?! Hmph!"

"... ..." Pei Lengxue frowned in confusion and replied, "I don't steal."

"Hmph! I'll beat you up first and then we'll talk!"

Yun Jiujiu's mouth twitched.

She waved her right hand, and a golden light shot out from the jade gourd at her waist, condensing into a giant sword the size of her body, which she swung at Pei Lengxue like a flyswatter.

Standing twenty feet away, Feng Yudie glanced at the situation, then at the inner disciple in front of her.

She gritted her teeth slightly and shouted to the two Jiuquan Peak disciples beside her:

"You two, keep an eye on him!"

Then, with a quick movement, she dashed behind Yun Jiujiu and lifted her off the ground, shouting:

"Jiujiu, wait, wait, wait!!"

"Huh?"

Whoosh—

Because Feng Yudie had picked her up, the trajectory of the giant sword in Yun Jiujiu's hand was raised, allowing Pei Lengxue to duck down and avoid it.

Yun Jiujiu, her hands now resting on her chest and wary of Pei Lengxue, asked:

"Brother Yu!! What are you doing? She's chasing our Shadowmoon Sword Sect disciple."

"Ah... no..." Feng Yudie stammered, remembering that Ye Anping had told her to pretend not to know Pei Lengxue, and said, "I don't think she is."

"Why not?"

"Well... look at her. This Young Mistress shines like spring flowers, beautiful as the autumn moon. She doesn't look like a thief at all."

Yun Jiujiu paused, glanced at Pei Lengxue again, and asked, "What does that mean?"

"It means she's pretty."

"... ..."

Hearing this, Yun Jiujiu's brows furrowed even more deeply, puzzled: Pretty? So soft and delicate, he likes this type? What's so great about that?

At that moment, Yun Xi also ran out from the alley.

Seeing Yun Jiujiu holding her rather inelegant sword, she immediately realized what had happened.

"Yun Jiujiu!! You blockhead, all you know is fighting and drinking, is there anything else in your brain?!"

"Tch..." Yun Jiujiu clicked her tongue, turned to look at Yun Xi, and asked, "So, what's going on?"

Yun Xi rolled her eyes at her, not intending to explain, and then looked around, spotting the escaping man by the two Jiuquan Peak disciples. She hurried over.

"Speak, what do you know?"

"I..." The man looked at Yun Xi with trepidation, biting his lip, and answered, "I... I escaped."

"Escaped from where? Where did you escape from?"

"My father asked me to go to the Wutian Shadowmoon Sword Pavilion at noon yesterday to get a sword he had ordered for me. But when I got to the pavilion, I found the master wasn't there. So I wandered around and saw..."

Yun Xi frowned slightly, puzzled, and asked, "Your father?"

"My father is Yun Kun, my name is Yun Shulong."

Yun Xi recalled for a moment and then remembered that Yun Kun was likely a descendant of her older brother Yun Kunwu, who had died several hundred years ago.

She paused and asked, "What did you discover?"

"In the basement, I found twenty-seven corpses wrapped in oilcloth, and then... I fled."

"Then why did you run away just now without saying a word?"

"I thought you were also here to kill me..."

"Also?" Yun Xi squinted slightly and asked, "Are there others trying to kill you?"

"Yes, my elder brothers have been looking for me. I hid all night..."

Just as he said this, Pei Lengxue, standing beside Yun Xi, suddenly felt a surge of killing intent.

She glanced sideways and quickly pulled Yun Xi back several steps.

At the same time, Yun Jiujiu and Feng Yudie also sensed the killing intent, quickly leaping back ten feet.

Swish—

In a flash of white, the heads of the two Jiuquan Peak disciples and Yun Shulong were severed and flew into the air.

A figure in a black brocade robe, wearing a half-gold mask, holding a purple long sword, appeared where Yun Shulong had been standing moments before.
