Volume 1 Chapter 46: The Protagonist's Third Breast

Xiao Yunluo and Pei Lengxue hadn't been injured during their clash with Zhuang Hu and the others, so they still had to continue the physical trial. At the moment, they were still in the back mountain of the Profound Star Sect, struggling hard in their battle against nature itself.

But Feng Yudie wasn't so lucky.

That one sword strike from "Fifth Brother" had punched a hole clean through her shoulder.

An injury like that wasn't minor to begin with, and afterward, Pei Lengxue, taking the chance for some personal revenge, had disinfected it by sprinkling salt on it.

Of course, the salt was indeed for disinfecting the wound, to avoid infection, but the result was that her left shoulder swelled up bigger than her breast.

So that night, Lei Wanjun simply gave her a "ninety points" score for the trial and had an inner-sect disciple carry her back to the Tri-Rivers Courtyard on Sky Cloud Peak to recuperate.

After two Senior Sisters from the Profound Star Sect helped her rewrap the wound and apply medicine, the swelling in her shoulder had gone down quite a bit. Now it was only about the same size as her breast, making it look like she had grown a third one—but it was crooked.

The two Senior Sisters reminded her to rest well, but Feng Yudie had no intention of obediently following doctor's orders and lying in bed to recover.

After they left, Feng Yudie rested for a while, then got up from the bed, went out to the small bamboo grove outside the courtyard, and began earnestly practicing her swordsmanship using bamboo stalks as her sword—completely ignoring the injury on her shoulder.

At first, Xiaotian also tried to persuade her to go back to bed, but she ignored it, so eventually it stopped trying.

After all, with her Immortal Emperor's bloodline as a safeguard, even severed limbs could grow back; such a small injury was hardly worth worrying about.

In the bamboo grove, sword winds gusted.

Even the leaves of the bamboo seemed to have gained sentience, swirling around her in accompaniment to her sword dance.

A silver ring of light spread outward from her as the center, and within twenty feet, every bamboo stalk was instantly cut clean in half.

Sweat dripped onto the bandages on her left shoulder, soaking it and making the wound throb with pain, but she still didn't stop. She gritted her teeth and persisted until she had completed the entire sword routine before coming to a halt.

Xiaotian watched her practice so seriously with a strange expression on it face.

『Yudie, have you been possessed?』

Feng Yudie looked at it in puzzlement and asked back, "What do you mean?"

『What do you mean, what do I mean? In the past, whenever you practiced, I had to nag you to make you move at all. How come today you're training so seriously…?』

"Well… it's because…" Feng Yudie pursed her lips and said with some awkwardness, " Last night… I almost failed to protect Junior Sister Pei from those assassins."

"I reviewed what happened yesterday. If it weren't for her being there, I might not have been able to beat those people by myself. That first group of four—if I hadn't deliberately taken a sword strike to bait out an opening, we might have been worn down to death by them."

"And then there was that formation. I was planning to search in the order southwest–northeast, but if Junior Sister Pei hadn't seen that the formation's core was at Kai Yang, we wouldn't have been able to break it at all."

Hearing this, Xiaotian nodded in sudden understanding—so she'd taken a hit to her pride.

Its face softened into an indulgent smile as it stepped forward and patted Feng Yudie on the head, comforting her: 『Well, well~ so you can have moments of self-doubt. Since you were little, I've rarely seen you so shaken. Hmph~』

Feng Yudie suddenly blushed, puffed up her cheeks in irritation, and waved it away.

"Shoo, shoo."

Seeing her act so petulant, Xiaotian almost laughed.

But truth be told, it didn't quite understand how that Pei girl had been able to tell that the formation's core was in Kai Yang at the time.

The Seven-Star Spirit-Choking Formation's core could be placed anywhere the caster wanted, and even the most experienced cultivators could never pinpoint it by sight alone.

Yet that Pei girl had declared with absolute certainty that it was in Kai Yang—and kept muttering something like "one short, one long; two short, one long."

Has someone been passing her a secret code?

How was it sent? Who sent it?

Xiaotian thought for a moment, and for some reason, Ye Anping came to mind. But instead, it said:

『When that little Pei girl comes back, just ask her yourself.』

Feng Yudie let out a long breath, then once again raised the longsword in her hand, intending to resume practice.

Seeing that the wound on her shoulder had started bleeding again, Xiaotian hurriedly reminded her:

『Alright, enough. Sword practice and cultivation can't be rushed—go back inside and lie down. Doesn't it hurt?』

"It doesn't hurt!"

『You're just a Qi Refining cultivator, and you killed both an early stage Foundation Establishment cultivator and a mid stage Foundation Establishment cultivator, and even forced back a late stage Foundation Establishment cultivator—yet you still think it's not enough? For most cultivators, just surviving would be impressive.』

"I'm not some average cultivator with mediocre talent," Feng Yudie pouted, complaining, "Didn't you and Master both say I'm someone burdened with destiny—"

『Even a child of destiny is still human.』 Xiaotian sighed helplessly, reached out to ruffle her hair again, and said, 『Yudie, adjust your mindset. You don't need to be the best at everything. In the past—』

Before it could finish, Feng Yudie, as if finding it nagging, cut it off:

"Stop, stop, stop. I'm not feeling down—I just really want to vent right now."

『Vent about what?』

"About letting those two get away."

Xiaotian sighed, recalling that late Foundation Establishment cultivator from before, and asked:

『Yudie, want to hear the truth?』

"Speak."

『That late stage Foundation Establishment cultivator—never mind that he was a whole major realm above both you and the Pei girl—he was also a spell cultivator. Neither of you had flying swords at the time. If he had been serious, you wouldn't have been able to handle him.』

"…"

『He probably held back because he was concerned about the safety of that other Qi Refining cultivator. You should actually be grateful to that Qi Refining cultivator—if he hadn't been there, the three of you would all have ended up severely injured.』

"That makes me even more annoyed—feels like being at someone's mercy…" Feng Yudie puffed her cheeks in frustration, then swung her sword hard into empty air. "Next time I meet them, there's no way I'm letting them slip past me again!"

Seeing her once again practicing seriously, Xiaotian felt both pained and comforted, then simply stopped speaking, drifting up into the air to doze off.

After a while, a flying sword suddenly approached from outside the peak.

Bai Yuelin had specially come over just to deliver a message for Ye Anping.

She leapt down from her flying sword, frowning as she called out:

"Feng Yudie!"

"Huh?!" Feng Yudie turned her head and saw it was a Senior Sister. Thinking she was here to scold her for practicing instead of resting, she hurriedly hid her sword behind her back and said, "I'll go rest right now, I'll go right now…"

"What?"

"Hm? Senior Sister, aren't you here to scold me for not resting properly?"

Seeing Feng Yudie's expression, Bai Yuelin pursed her lips slightly and frowned back:

"…You don't remember me?"

"Hm?" Feng Yudie froze for a moment, carefully studying Bai Yuelin's face before shaking her head slightly.

"Senior Sister… have we met before?"

"…"

Seeing that she truly didn't seem to recognize her, Bai Yuelin felt a swirl of emotions—anger, helplessness, sadness— all at once.

Taking a deep breath, she said, "I'm here to… pass along a message from my… younger brother."

"Your… younger brother?"

"Mm. He wants to invite you to a meal and meet with you."

"?" A question mark practically popped up over Feng Yudie's head. "Senior Sister, who's your younger brother?"

"You don't know him." Bai Yuelin's tone was curt. She asked directly, "Are you going or not?"

Feng Yudie was dazed for quite a while. What was going on?

How had a Senior Sister's younger brother suddenly appeared out of nowhere wanting to treat her to a meal?

Xiaotian was also puzzled at first, but after thinking for a moment, suggested:

『Yudie, just say yes. Free food! You love freeloading the most, don't you?』

Feng Yudie gave it a sideways glance. If it were a young woman inviting, she'd definitely go, but a younger brother… She politely replied, "Thank your younger brother for his kindness, but I'll have to decline—"

"Then I'll tell him you're not going."

Before Feng Yudie could finish, Bai Yuelin stepped onto her flying sword and left.

Watching her go, Feng Yudie just felt baffled.

She didn't think too much more about it and went back to practicing diligently.

However, about two quarters of an hour later, Bai Yuelin returned on her sword.

"Feng Yudie! My younger brother says he'll treat you to roasted chicken."

"!" An exclamation mark popped up over Feng Yudie's head. "How does your younger brother know I love roasted chicken?!"

"Also… he asked me to tell you that he's the Young Master of the Hundred Lotus Sect."

"!!" The exclamation mark above her head multiplied—then, in the next instant, turned into two question marks: "??"

Hearing it was Ye Anping, Xiaotian's eyes lit up instantly. It had always liked Ye Anping, even thinking he might be able to "fix" Feng Yudie's bad habit of liking women.

『Yudie, hurry and agree! roasted chicken is your favorite!』

"Forget it, I'm not going."

Bai Yuelin waved her hand, stepping back onto her flying sword, ready to leave.

Feng Yudie quickly reached out in protest and said, "Wait! I'm going!!"

Bai Yuelin puffed her cheeks in mild annoyance, thinking she hadn't flown away fast enough. She glanced back at Feng Yudie, sighed helplessly, and said:

"Follow me yourself. You can fly, right?"

"Ah, yes."
