Chapter 62 - CHAPTER SIXTY-ONE

While Giovane was tidying up, a man suddenly entered the room, but he didn't let him in. Without uttering a word, he simply gazed at the man, his wrapped face concealing his true identity.

He was taking something out of his jacket. He was startled and pulled out a gun; he was immediately shot multiple times.

He just woke up from his dream.

What kind of dream is that? He found himself asking himself. His work desk was messy again, so he rubbed his forehead and sighed.

What a weird dream.

Earlier, he noticed a brown envelope at the end of his desk. As far as he remembers, it wasn't there when he took a nap and when he woke up earlier. He reached for it and looked at the entirety of the brown envelope.

There was no name indicating where it came from; it was completely wrapped. He immediately opened it, and he saw some photographs.

He looked at it and scrutinized who was in the picture. Someone caught his attention, so he stared at it.

In the picture, a man wearing shades is visible, but his face is obscured by a face mask and a hat; he is talking to his cousin Jake.

Who is this? He found himself questioning in his mind. One by one, he looked at the photos, hoping he might see the face of the man Jake was talking to in an old picture.

There was no clear shot of who the man Jake was talking to. But, in the last photo, he caught a glimpse of its eyes because it wasn't wearing shades.

He sat down, unaware that he had seen the eyes in the picture.

Is this Jake's helper? He was thinking he strongly believed this was connected to the ambushes happening in their transactions.

He is left wondering who sent this to him. This didn't come from his right-hand man, Charles, because he would wait for him until he finished resting.

He was startled when someone called his phone. He checked who had called him.

"Dad," he greeted on the other line.

"Did you receive the envelope?" he asked his father.

He looked at the brown envelope and smirked, realizing it was from his father. "Yeah, I guess." He replied on the other line.

"Find out the identity of the man Jake is talking to," he ordered him.

"I'm just fixing the mess that happened with your name pending, Dad." He just sighed.

"Don't worry about me anymore; let my secretary handle that. Discovering your cousin's conversation partner is crucial, as my spies link this to the unsuccessful transactions." He said on the other line.

He just listened now.

"Right away, let Charles take care of it."

"Tsk, tsk," he heard from his father on the other line. "Handle it personally, Giovane; I don't trust that Charles."

He could only shake his head because he still couldn't understand why he couldn't trust Charles so much. He had no choice but to just accept what he was doing.

"Yes, indeed, I will investigate for your comfort." Giovane said this while shaking his head and sighing.

"That's better, Giovane. I need to say goodbye, goodbye."

Again, he shook his head at his father's behavior. He first stretched his hand to get the blood flowing in his body that was asleep earlier.

It was already night when he got out; the warehouse was quiet, but he knew it would be noisy again later—soon.

He stepped out of the warehouse, immediately grabbed a pack of cigarettes, lit one up, and started contemplating the mission he was about to undertake—finding the man Jake was talking to.

He knew that he had a lot of information. When he caught it, he sighed again.

He looked at the entirety of the dense forest surrounding them.

If Mom hadn't discovered Dad's secret, would we have been whole? If Mom had just endured Dad, would I still have a mother today? That suddenly crossed his mind.

Oh, please, Giovane. Please try to redirect those unproductive thoughts. He scolded himself.

If they weren't weak, cowardly, and pitying, they'd be here now, enjoying Dad's success. He just clenched his fist.

He noticed that the cigarette stick was already finished due to his deep thinking.

There were two shadows approaching him, so he illuminated them with his phone. It still wouldn't go away—his dream from earlier was still on his mind.

He just shook his head; Giovane was not superstitious, so he didn't believe in dreams; they were not in his vocabulary.

"Boss?" someone called him.

His mind was brought back when he was called by his name; he looked at the person in front of him and immediately recognized their face.

"William?" he asked when he couldn't quite make out his face.

"Why, boss?" he asked her.

He simply shook his head, indicating that he had no work for his colleague at that moment. Without a word, Giovane walked away from his companions.

He will take care of things tonight.

"Bring me a flashlight." He ordered the people who saw him walking alone.

Someone handed him something.

"Where are you headed now, boss?" he asked.

"No, let me handle this time; you all stay inside for now." That was his command back then.

Without a word, they followed his command; he needed to breathe fresh air. He had a lot on his mind now, as his worries were piling up and coming all at once.

He didn't take anyone else with him; he didn't even know why he was in this dense forest now. Giovane hears footsteps approaching his direction; they are silent, making no sound as they come closer. So, he quickly hid in the dense forest to see who owned the footsteps he was hearing.
