Chapter 29: The Bribe and the Broken Blender
Things were going smoothly.
Auntie Akos was living her best life — TV interviews, endorsement deals, fan gifts (someone even sent her a whole mortar with her name engraved in it: Akos the Soup Commander).
But peace is like unguarded kelewele — someone always wants to take a bite.
Enter: Mr. Arhin, marketing head of Royal Fry Supreme Oil, a rival brand.
He didn't come to play.
One evening, he showed up at our gate uninvited, holding a giant food hamper, wearing sunglasses at night, and grinning like a dodgy lotto man.
"Good evening, Madam Akos. I come in peace… and palm oil."
Auntie Akos narrowed her eyes.
"Why are you dressed like a pastor and a politician at the same time?"
"I want to… humbly offer you something. If you join our brand, we'll double what Golden Taste pays you. We'll even give you your own cooking show — 'Akos Unfiltered'."
He handed her a brand-new blender and a brown envelope.
She opened it. Money. Plenty. More than my entire school fees, rent, and mobile data budget combined.
She stared at it.
Then back at him.
Then at the blender.
Then she did something nobody expected:
She dropped the blender. ON PURPOSE.
It shattered.
"You think I'll sell my soup loyalty for a noisy machine and dirty money? Do I look like someone who blends betrayal?"
"Madam, this is business…"
"No. This is spiritual warfare. Leave before your stew starts burning spiritually."
The man stammered and backed away slowly — like he just saw a ghost in an apron.
As he left, Auntie Akos shouted:
"Tell your oil to work on its character! It foams too much. It needs deliverance!"
The next day, she went live on Facebook:
"I was offered bribes and blenders, but my soul is not for sale. I stand with truth, and I fry with purpose!"
The video hit 100,000 views.
Hashtag started trending: #BlenderNoBeBribe
