Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Home… Wrecked Home

Oscar opened his eyes and realized that he was back home, back to the house that they ruined while fighting.

The scene outside of the house immediately caught his attention. He walked out to better observe.

On the street were empty cars scattered around, most of the buildings were painted with blood and more than an hundred bullet shells lay around on the ground. Then the smell, the area stunk of rotten bodies though Oscar could not find any. He could only see severed particles.

"What happened here?" he wandered through the street.

"I gotta go find Finn," he turned around and started walking hastily but then he halted as a thought stormed into his head. "What hospital did they take him to?"

"I'd just go to his house," he started walking down the street, through the ruins with the moon behind his back.

After a few hundred steps, Oscar was introduced to the problem itself, the cause of the massacre.

A lone grave-walker walked down the street, he sighted Oscar and rushed for him. To Oscar's surprise, he was faster than the ones he had faced off earlier.

Oscar subconsciously punched him, blowing his whole body into powder pieces.

He gasped and took a quick look at his palm, it was flaming with thick red fire which covered his whole arm.

Oscar tried the other arm and it burned alongside the first. Stunned, he put his palms forward and feasted his eyes on them.

"System, what's going on?"

"Whoooh!" Oscar yelled in excitement.

"This is incredible. I can make fire now?" he grinned evilly while staring at his hands. "This is sweet. How did I miss all this notifications? Unbelievable."

While he celebrated an army of grave-walkers gathered around him from all corners of the street, his voice had drawn them out of the darkness.

Oscar turned around and noticed them, "Look at them, my first victims."

Without wasting a second he flamed up while they charged towards him as always. Oscar exploded, the breeze around him was followed by visible fire like even the air was burning. It took everyone 360 degrees around him and took extra with its cooling force.

The rest of them fearlessly charged at him again, he launched an upper kick at the first one instantaneously turning him to arches as impact was made.

"Whoa!"

Oscar settled into this method and started kicking down rows and rows of them as they came, punching down a few even. As this point he was simply an angel of nature, clearing out dead bodies into pieces of sand simultaneously as he killed them.

Eventually he grew tired and shot flames right out of his balled fists like a flamethrower, emptying the place in an instant.

"Some other time fellas," he blew off his fists. "I need to find my friend now."

He ran down the streets, through the deserted cars, under the fading street lights heading for Finn's house.

At last he arrived at the house and paused at a distance, immediately hiding behind dumpsters on the street. Something seemed off, their bodyguards have quadrupled, it looked like a military barrack now.

"What happened here?"

Oscar forfeited the front gate and went around.

In a few minutes he fell down a window into a room full of action figures of street dudes. It looks like a teenager's room for a rich household.

He sat up and turned around to see Finn up on the bed with his eyes wide opened at him. Oscar froze in confusion at Finn's exaggerated shock which made Finn even more terrified.

"Ahhhhhhhhhh!" Finn screamed his lungs out, frightened that he had seen a ghost.

"Finn, Finn, Finn, Finn," Oscar stood up with a soothing voice and rushed up to him. "It's me."

Finn crawled backwards to the corner of the bed and looked up to his friend, "Oscar?"

"Of course it's me. Do I look prettier or something?" Oscar was pissed.

"You're… you're supposed to be dead."

Oscar took a deep breath, "Whoever said that, tell them I said fuck you."

"It was my mom."

"I forgive her," Oscar stood on business.

"Oscar," Finn dropped from the bed and hugged him. "Where the hell have you been?"

"What happened here?" Oscar questioned him.

"I asked first, bro," Finn argued. "You've been gone for two weeks. These guys came over and took over the world. You know how everyone's always praying for a zombie apocalypse? This isn't what we asked for bro, these guys are not normal zombies. They can open doors. They can do things, they're smart and strong."

"I know, I've fought them before," Oscar replied casually.

"Fought them?" Finn stared at Oscar suspiciously. "You started smoking?"

"No! Why would you even think that?" Oscar slapped his own forehead. "Look I need to get through to my aunt."

"The south side of the city has been closed down by military. The only thing standing there is our school. And we don't pay the school fees anymore, the teachers live in the school now, they teach us and we protect them with our powers. Not everyone can afford private protection."

"And their parent's just let them?"

"Mine didn't. So I'm guessing most didn't. They make me look like a weakling. I'm tough though, you know me."

"I'm going back there. I need to see what happened to my home," Oscar walked back to the window he came through.

"Are you insane?" Finn walked up to him.

"They'd eat you for breakfast."

"A thousand bucks says I eat them first."
