It didn't take Vesper long to finish what she was doing in the kitchen, probably because she was only making rice porridge.
Rice was the only food available in the house so she had to work with what she had.
To make sure Axel didn't have any problem eating, she insisted on feeding him, and he didn't have much ground to refuse so he just gave in.
The room was quiet for the first few seconds but the way Vesper was staring at him as she slid a spoonful of porridge into his mouth indicated that she wanted to say something.
"Axel." She called after retrieving the spoon from his mouth.
"Yes." He responded.
"What exactly happened between you and Ivan?" She inquired.
She didn't care much about the details when she thought he was dead and just wanted to send Ivan to his grave as soon as possible but now that he was okay, she wanted to know what exactly started the conflict.
"Oh, that…."
Judging from his tone, it was obvious that he didn't want to answer that question or at least didn't feel comfortable about answering it.
"Did he…."
She wasn't able to finish what she wanted to say as a knock suddenly came from the door.
She quickly shot her gaze at the door and, with her nose, tried to determine if the person outside was a fairy or vampire.
Unfortunately, she wasn't able to get anything as the person outside seemed to be deliberately hiding her scent.
Vesper's instincts screamed danger at that moment as she quickly pulled out her dagger before slowly getting up on her feet.
"What's going on….."
"Shhhh." Vesper quickly hushed him.
With one shadow step, she was immediately in front of the door and with the dagger hidden behind her in her left hand, she reached for the door.
She turned the knob and slowly opened the door.
With the door open enough, he could see a young woman in a black suit. She had long black hair and a pair of green eyes.
To be honest, Vesper didn't care much about her appearance.
She didn't hesitate to strike her with the dagger which had been hidden behind her, intending to catch her off guard.
Unfortunately, she seemed to have underestimated her opponent.
Just before the dagger could get to her, Vesper's hands suddenly stopped moving as it was meant with some kind of resistance, a resistance from strong wind pressure. Her hand was like a tiny insect trying to go north while there was a strong wind force coming from the north toward the south.
"Uhhh," Vesper growled as she tried to force her hand through, but it was a fruitless attempt.
Watching that, the woman couldn't help but let out a sigh.
"You need to calm down."
With just a flick, she was able to release enough wind force to send Vesper flying and tumbling back into the room.
The noise from the commotion forced Axel to quickly get up on his feet.
Vesper was able to pick herself up before she could tumble any further down, and now, with both of her hands on the ground, she was growling at the intruder, her fangs out and her eyes glowing red.
The supposed intruder didn't have any trouble walking into the house with Vesper out of the way and the moment she entered the house, the door was instantly slammed shut, by her wind ability most likely.
"You!"
Vesper was quite eager to charge at her, but the moment she was just about to use shadow step, she suddenly found herself trapped in a wind barrier, one that instantly began to toss her around.
Getting tossed around like that greatly annoyed Vesper, and in a desperate attempt to get herself out, she released a blood slash.
Unfortunately, that was the wrong move as the blood slash was instantly sent back to her, hitting her on her left shoulder and forcing out a groan from her.
"The strength gap between a core level four and a core level eight is something you cannot even fathom, you shouldn't rush into fights you have zero chance of winning." The woman said as she moved closer to Vesper who was still being tossed around.
"Huh?" Axel gasped.
"So, you should calm down."
"What do you want?" Vesper growled.
Getting asked that question, the woman couldn't help but smile.
"Do I look like I want anything from you, Your Highness?"
"Miss. Claire?"
Those words came from Axel, causing the woman to quickly turn to him.
"Here's someone that recognizes me."
"You know her, Axel?" Vesper asked.
"Yes." He nodded. "She's our assistant supervisor. Didn't you know?"
To that question, Vesper could only let out a sigh.
"Her classes on fairy biology are very enjoyable," Axel said.
"Oh, I see, that's why you were able to recognize my voice," Claire said as she made his way to him.
She swiped her hand down at the same time, releasing Vesper from the wind barrier and allowing her to crash down on the ground.
"Yes." Axel nodded.
"Okay, she might be our assistant supervisor or whatever, but she must have followed us here for a reason, and I doubt it's a good one," Vesper argued as she got up on her feet.
"If that was the case, you wouldn't still be conscious now."
Vesper felt a quick gust of wind rush past her at that moment and for a second there, she felt her heart skip a beat.
'I can't believe I'm actually afraid of her.'
"Indeed there were people following you with bad intentions. However, I got rid of them on my way here." Claire continued.
"We were being followed?" Vesper retorted. "But I didn't sense anybody?"
"You weren't able to sense when I arrived at the door either, and even up to now you can't tell if I'm a fairy or a vampire."
'I don't like the way she speaks.' Vesper said inwardly before placing her hand on her chin. 'It's not like I need my nose to tell if she's a fairy or vampire.'
"Your Highness?" Claire called, instantly calling her back from her thoughts.
"What is it?"
"Why did you choose to escape from the Academy with him and come all the way over here?" She inquired.
"I don't know." She shook her head. "I just felt the school was very dangerous for him at that moment."
"You have sharp instincts at least."
'At least? What does she mean by that?'
"You were correct?" Claire nodded. "As things stand, he could be killed any moment from now, and this time, he might just stay dead." She disclosed, pointing at Axel.
"I'll see who dares!" Vesper snapped.
"You're a princess, true. However, there's nothing you can do if the king wants someone dead."
"The king?" Vesper gasped.
"Why does he want me dead?" Axel asked.
"I'll explain the details to you later but before that, you have to listen to what I'm about to say if you want to survive tomorrow."
