Chapter 93 - Ch.93: The Dreaming Root

Chapter 93 – "The Dreaming Root"

> "Some memories aren't preserved.

They evolve."

---

Scene 1 – "The Map That Faded"

A rebel scout returns with news:

Whole cities have vanished—not just physically.

Maps are blank.

Towns erased from memory.

Even survivors forget where they're from.

> Narrator: "The Root had grown past the body.

Now it fed on context."

Reen realizes: history itself is being unmade.

Jakku stares at the blank maps in horror.

---

Scene 2 – "The Split"

The rebellion fractures.

Reen's side wants to archive what's left, move constantly, stay ahead of deletion.

Jakku's faction believes they must plant memory into nature—make the planet remember, not the people.

They part ways.

Quietly.

No fight.

Just pain.

> Narrator: "They didn't split from each other.

They split from the way they loved what was lost."

---

Scene 3 – "The Capsule Tree Wakes"

In the middle of the forest, a sapling from a buried memory capsule glows faintly.

Matthew dreams.

The tree speaks—not in words, but images.

> A memory that never happened:

Levi, older, healed, watching the rebellion plant seeds in peace.

Matthew wakes, breathless.

Matthew: "It's not remembering the past…

It's dreaming the possible future."

---

Scene 4 – "The Erasure Pulse"

A pulse radiates from the Core Grove.

A library in the city of Arlo vanishes.

All its books—gone.

All its readers—forget how to read.

Maiku watches in horror.

Even his fire dims.

> "The Root was not killing.

It was unmaking the idea of knowing."

---

Scene 5 – "The Bark-Written Girl"

Gift finds a child writing her name in tree bark, afraid she'll forget it.

The tree responds—etching her name deeper, adding flowers around it.

She looks up: "Will the trees forget me too?"

Gift kneels.

Gift: "Not if they remember louder than you do."

He gives her a capsule.

---

Scene 6 – "Jakku's Experiment"

Jakku buries three different memory capsules at the edge of an erased town—each one containing a different story.

The forest rejects two.

But one—containing a bittersweet memory of forgiveness—blooms a white-leafed bush overnight.

Jakku whispers:

> "It's not truth they want…

It's what truth could have meant."

---

Scene 7 – "Reen's Run"

Reen's side escapes another deletion wave.

But this time, it doesn't just take geography.

It erases a rebel's entire childhood.

She forgets her sister's name mid-sentence.

Reen panics. She cries. Then she orders:

Reen: "Start writing everything. Everything.

Even the lies. Even the stories that hurt."

---

Scene 8 – "Maiku's Return"

Maiku returns alone to the edge of the Fallowwood.

He plants a Firebell seed—a rare flower that only blooms during mourning.

He whispers:

Maiku: "This is not forgiveness.

But it's not vengeance either."

The ground glows faintly.

The seed pulses.

Unseen, the Root Avatar twitches.

---

Scene 9 – "The Tree That Dreams Forward"

Matthew sings beside the dreaming tree again.

This time, it responds more clearly:

a new symbol appears on its bark—a spiral of flame, memory, and music intertwined.

He names it:

> "The Sigil of What Could Have Been."

The tree glows.

It begins to hum.

---

Scene 10 – "The Return of a Forgotten Name"

Back in the Core Grove, Levi stirs.

Something's changed.

He remembers a word.

One that no one told him.

> "Fallowroot."

The name of the dreaming tree.

His eyes widen.

He whispers:

> "I didn't plant that."

A flicker of fear. Or wonder. Or both.

> Narrator: "The god who erased…

had just encountered something he hadn't created."
