Chapter 52 - Ch.52: The Fire In The Root

CHAPTER 52: THE FIRE IN THE ROOT

"Two threads—The Collapse Without. The Awakening Within."

---

SCENE 1: "Child of Root"

The Root-fleshed child moves like an animal bred in pain — twitch-spasms, spore-licked skin. Claws made of Thorns and Razor sharp Teeth made of sharp branches.

It lunges. Fast. Almost unseen.

Maiku tackles Reen, saving her from the strike — lands wrong. His ankle folds. Something snaps.

The pain flashes white in his skull.

The Child lands, bites deep into Reen's shoulder. Blood like ink spilling from a pen.

Maiku grits through the pain and slashes — the blade cuts air. The Child twists, aims claws at his eyes. He reels back. A graze opens on his cheek. Ankle throbs worse.

The Root makes no sound when it wounds you. That's the trick. You bleed before you even scream.

Gift and Jakku are breathless. Tired. Spent. No energy to use Flash.

Jakku snarls and lunges anyway — sword to throat.

It lands. The throat opens. But it doesn't die.

It regenerates with a wet, creaking noise.

Vines stitching flesh. Jakku catches a claw to the shoulder — blood sprays, shallow, but deep enough to count.

Gift doesn't wait. His cuts come brutal — legs, arms, face — then a leaping arc and the head rolls.

It keeps growing back.

Matthew, silent, leaps behind. His claws burn with inner flame.

He drives his hand in. The chest cracks — inside is no heart, but a glowing Root Core.

He tears it out. Green ichor. Sizzle.

The Child twitches — then dies.

Reen(whispering, panting) : "Only the core, that's the kill point. Remember that."

They barricade the base. Reinforce the walls. Reen refuses isolation, even as her wound darkens.

She stares at it. Quietly. Like she knows something's coming.

---

SCENE 2: "First Pulse"

The Root Avatar sits cross-legged in a circle of spores, buried in moss.

He doesn't move. But around him, life mutates.

Pods bulge open. Slippery figures claw out — the first thirty.

Around him, root-mass swells beneath the ground. A bulging presence beneath the surface — the True Root Body, embryonic and colossal—100 feet tall. Hidden deep underground—90 feet above the Core Grove.

From Shriveled to Colossal.

He murmurs to it like a lover:

Root Avatar: "You grow. And I will become your voice."

---

SCENE 3: "The Thirty Root"

Jakku, Gift and Matthew head out.

Matthew hears screams and the trio move out to a village.

However....

Jakku. Gift. Matthew. They arrive too late.

Villagers writhing, already transforming.

Jakku activates Focus Vision — everything slows, lines form — he sees every movement.

He strikes. Blade sings — then shatters against a juggernaut's bark-flesh.

Jakku is sliced. Shoulders, left leg, Ribs and a shallow cut to the chest.

Jakku tries to grab his other sword.

Then...

The Root-fleshed one kicks his blade away.

It seems hope is lost.

Jakku (thinks to himself) : "I'm dead. This might be my end....."

He sees a knife.

Jakku grabs a knife on the ground and kills two Root-fleshed ones and he sprints away.

He takes blade back and sprints to his friends.

Gift activates Environmental Awareness — maps the terrain, moves like wind. He cuts six down, but none stay dead. They rise too fast.

Gift—ribbed to shreds. He is slashed in every possible area—he coughs up blood. He's weakened.

Jakku leaps in barely grabbing his friend and sprinting away.

Matthew uses flame. Acid. Lava. Even water. But.....The Root-fleshed dodge with hive-thought precision.

Matthew is cut on the leg and then the wing. The Root-fleshed ones aim for the throat.

Until Jakku lunges and slices the Root-fleshed ones core.

Jakku(screaming) : "Matthew stand up! Let's go!"

All the Root-fleshed ones roar.

Root-fleshed one(roar) : "We were made to be fast and agile!"

They sprint

They escape through a tunnel — Gift bleeding, Matthew, Wing torn, Jakku limping.

The village above burns quietly.

No screams. Just ash.

---

SCENE 4: The Bloom Inside

Back at base.

Reen stitches her own wound.

Reen : "We're very lucky that these things haven't evolved to get venom. Cause I'd be dead by now."

She works on Maiku's ankle — her hands steady.

While he winces, she cross-tests his blood. Something hums. Something ancient. Ancient in his blood.

Reen : "You're not just Sky-Fire, .You're born of it."

She holds up a vial of his blood.

Reen : "If I blend this correctly, we might wake the fire inside you that even your ancestors forgot."

---

SCENE 5: Sky-Fire Echoes

Maiku agrees.

She injects him. He seizes up. Falls unconscious.

Memory breaks through.

A burning battlefield. Sky split open. A Sky-Walker General turns, surrounded by flame glyphs.

Sky-Walker General: "You've forgotten the breath of fire. I'll help you remember."

He trains Maiku.

First — Sky-Fire Awakening Mode. Control. Focus. Red fire.

Then — Ascendancy Mode. Let go. Let the body move on instinct. White fire.

Then he speaks the final form:

Sky-Walker General: "Third Flame Stance — The Fire That Binds."

Glyphs swirl. The Binding Flame takes form — fire that fuses soul to soul. A protective and destructive tether.

Maiku wakes up gasping. Hands ablaze. Glyphs in his eyes.

Reen just stares.

Reen : "You're ready to go further than anyone else."

---

SCENE 6: "The Root Stares Back"

Jakku and Gift return. Their faces say it before their words.

Reen sees the Root infection growing into the sky.

Veins climbing clouds. Turning the sky greenish-pink.

The weather is sick. The wind moves wrong.

The world isn't dying.

It's becoming Root.

---

SCENE 7: The Burial Drum

The Root Avatar walks the burnt remains of the village.

The villagers twitch — still alive, but wrong.

He plants them upright in rows like graves. Their bodies hum. Low. Constant.

Bio-sonar. Root-fleshed sonar.

He kneels, whispers into the dirt:

Root Avatar: "Soon. I will be your tongue."

The True Root body throbs below. Listening.

---

SCENE 8: Flame Memory Unlocked

Maiku dives deeper into his blood's memory.

Another ancestor. A failure this time. One who died screaming.

But this one knew something the others forgot:

Fallen Ancestor : "The Root fears memory — Sky-Fire that remembers itself. Not just burns. Not just acts. Remembers."

Maiku begins learning Memory Combustion —

A technique that pulls old flames into now.

He can burn not just with power — but with history.

---

SCENE 9: Exhaustion of a Hero

The group rests.

Reen's eyes flicker strangely. Her thoughts drift. She says the Root has begun whispering in her sleep.

Jakku's hand trembles. Gift stares at nothing.

Matthew meditates, wing bandaged and body exhausted.

Only Maiku looks ready.

Burning. Controlled. Listening.

His ankle—healed.

---

SCENE 10: Echoes March

Outside: spores drift like snowflakes. Gentle. Deceptive.

The Root Avatar stands watching the hills.

Infront of him, a forest of approach— massive Root-fleshed giants.

Slow. But you feel them in your bones. Like drums.

Maiku walks to the rooftop.

He watches the Root horizon, alone.

His hands glow silently. His eyes don't blink.

Final line:

"The Root grows and then follows. But so does the fire."

To Be Continued…

Narrator :

"Two threads—The Collapse Without. The Awakening Within."

Chapter 52 marks a turning point — not just in the war, but in the souls of those still breathing.

The first thread, Collapse Without, shudders through every scene where the Root advances. It comes not like a storm, but like rot — quiet, inevitable, deep. The Root-fleshed child that attacks like a nightmare made real, the village that falls before anyone can even scream — this is a world not dying, but changing. The Root does not simply destroy. It replaces. Rewrites.

Maiku, Gift, Jakku, Matthew — each one bleeds, each one falters. Their victories are brief, bought with pain. Their enemies regenerate. Learn. Adapt. There is no clear victory here. Just endurance.

And yet, the second thread, Awakening Within, burns quietly beneath it all. Like a fuse lit under ash.

It begins with Maiku's blood — something Reen identifies not as just Sky-Fire, but primordial flame. A fire carried in bloodlines so old, even memory has forgotten it. And then, as Maiku falls into that blood-dream — the flame remembers itself. That's the key. This is not just an upgrade, a power-up. It is ancestral reclamation.

The Sky-Walker General's words ring with weight:

> "You've forgotten the breath of fire. I'll help you remember."

And with that remembering, Maiku evolves — not only in strength but in purpose. He learns to burn with memory. With identity. With a flame that knows why it burns.

This is the fire the Root cannot replicate. Cannot infect. Cannot become.

And so, by chapter's end, while the world turns into Root — skies gone pink and veins growing toward heaven — Maiku stands alone, a figure of silent heat, a match lit against a coming flood.

The others? Exhausted. Scarred. Haunted.

Reen hears whispers. Jakku trembles. Gift has nothing left to say.

Matthew meditates not for peace, but to keep from breaking.

But Maiku?

He listens. His ankle healed. Glyphs in his eyes.

The Root is growing.

But so is the Flame that remembers.

And thus, the stage shifts.

From survival... to resistance.

From fear... to fire.

From being hunted... to becoming hunters of the Root.
