Chapter 86 - Clank clink - Chapter 86

"Who are you?" A rough voice echoed out in the jail cell...

And the woman in the other cell opposite rolls her eyes, and the cop standing outside the cell speaks once again.

"Ugh, and what about you, huh? Who the hell are those two?" "All three of you don't have ID or show up in the computer," and the cop looks at a man in a jail cell who has handcuffs on…

It was Frank Castle; his hand was bandaged up…

And the officer speaks to the young girl… who was looking at the jail, and the girl speaks back and stops looking at the people in the jail…

"Look, I'm just a kid who was in the wrong place at the wrong time…"

The officer speaks. "Yeah?"

"Yeah. Yeah, and I'm sixteen, so should we even really be having this conversation right now? I mean, maybe you want to be calling Child Services to come down here and get me?"

The girl spoke in a scared tone… On the other hand, the cop was a little convinced… And just then a sheriff walked to the girl, and the officer…

This sheriff, Roy Hardin, spoke, "Well, Rachel, oh wait, should I call you Peggy or Susan? You have more aliases than lies." and Roy looks at the younger officer and speaks, "This is her file; she is in the system unlike the other two… but she is under more than one name…"

"Look, just tell me what happened back there." Roy spoke in a calm tone, and Amy looked up at Roy…

"I already did; I am the victim, and both of them are crazy, ok?"

"Ok then, I am putting your age as 18. You're going to jail with the other woman."

"NO, I mean no, don't do that. Uh… She was trying to kill me…" Amy spoke, admitting the truth a little, and Roy stopped looking back at Amy, and he turned around.

"Hmm, ok, then what about the man?"

"Uh, he, um, saved me."

"Saved you? You were handcuffed in the back of his van. What about that?"

And Amy spoke faster this time: "It's true, he did handcuff me, but he also saved me… Look, I am telling the truth, ok? Both of them are crazy, and I just got caught between them…"

Roy looked at the other cop and spoke, "Take her mug shot," and then Roy walked back to the cells…

Inside the cells, another beggar who was inside the cell with Frank and the beggar pissed on the floor…

"God damn it!" Frank walked to the other end of the cell… Opposite his cell was a woman looking at him…

"That piss… is going to mix with the shit that's about to rain down…"

Frank, without looking at her, spoke: "How is the leg?"

Marlena spoke. "Next time I will hit more than your hand…"

"Are you two married?"

The beggar spoke out of nowhere. Both Frank and Marlena looked at him like he was a crackhead…

"Sure sounds married."

Just then Roy walks into the jail cell…

Roy spoke without missing a second.

"Ms. Marlena Olin's last known address is Detroit; what bounced from the prints almost broke you out of the internet. Former military. Form security contractor. As for the four corpses at the motel…

See? You make sense. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck. Makes sense…

But you, Pete Castiglione, make no sense. No known address; IAFIS came back with nothing. You're a choirboy, apparently, but look at you, look at what you did, ended her crew like they were nothing…

Weirder still, there are no records in the military database, but if I had a guess, I would guess you are a jarhead…"

Marlena spoke coldly, "Town police don't deal with homicides… What is it? election year? Trying to be the hero? Catching some more votes? Listen to me, Sheriff: if I don't get out of here, I will make sure your name is out of this department's history file…" And well, Roy, without turning around, speaks.

"I guess you both enjoy our sandwich. Nobody is going anywhere without us figuring out what happened…"

"Trouble is coming, sheriff…"

Roy stopped because Frank spoke… Roy looked behind him.

"The people who paid her want all of this to be stopped clean; all of it, trouble is coming…"

And Roy shakes his head, walking out…

A while later~

Frank and Marlena both had a chat, a less rude one, but just then the lights went out…

"Times up…" Marlena spoke with a smile on her face…

"Yeah, I guess it's about time," Frank spoke while looking around…

Roy walked inside the cells once more, this time unlocking Frank's jail cell and pulling Frank out…

Roy made Frank sit on the chair and locked his hand to the bar on the table, and Roy spoke: "Last chance, tell me what the hell is happening?" Roy also had a rifle in his hands…

Frank looked at Amy, who was looking away…

Frank spoke while looking around… "Well, it looks like your lights are out, and the radio is out, which means there is a jammer out there, and you're a sitting duck, Sheriff… alone in the woods, there are wolves around out there…"

And Roy took a breath in and spoke, "Why is that? Just tell me what is going on…" Not this. About what happened, why is this all happening?" and Frank looks at Ammy, who was looking away, and Frank, this time, spoke more honestly…

"Ugh, ok, a few days ago I was in Detroit in a bar and saw a few guys going after the girl… I stopped them, and well, while that was happening, they shot a friend of mine, and that pissed me off, so I grabbed the girl, split off, and stopped at the motel, and then you know what happened…"

Roy spoke fast. "Then why did you tie her up?" and Frank spoke fast: "I was just teaching her manners. Kids nowadays don't have any…"

And Roy blinked at the realization and spoke, "You—you were using her as bait…"

"No, I was not; I was just waiting…"

"Why wait? you wanted them to come to you…"

"You don't run away from the back… You can get attacked by the enemy from the back…" Frank spoke in a calm tone…

"But still, why get involved in this?" Roy spoke in a sharp tone…

"Don't know… I am not the "call the cops; they will arrest the bad guys" type of guy, you know?" Frank spoke, but after that, what came was bullet fire…
