Chapter 27 - The Fall and the Rise : the first war

Adolf, after infiltrating the secret chamber of the high-ranking dogs, listened in silence as the beasts of power discussed ominous plans that threatened humanity's survival. Their voices were tense, speaking of the humans' increasing coordination, of growing defeats in the forest, and how the fear that once paralyzed mankind had started to vanish. The old order was crumbling.

But Adolf wouldn't remain hidden for long. One of them had noticed something. In a flash, the ventilation shaft was destroyed. Adolf, injured and unable to maintain his reduced form, reverted to his original size. He crashed to the floor, bleeding and exposed. Without mercy, the elite dogs captured him and dragged him to a secret prison, hidden deep within their empire.

Meanwhile, Nourredine was overseeing the five human compounds. Intelligence had reported a terrifying truth: a canine army of 400,000 was approaching. Nourredine launched an emergency plan—mandatory recruitment, intensive training, and immediate calls for aid from all unaffiliated shelters and settlements.

At the same time, Sam began executing a scientific masterstroke. He expanded his company to three times its original size and brought in 5,000 scientists. A temporary resource tax was imposed on all compounds, redirecting food, funds, and materials to Sam's labs and Nourredine's defense ministry.

Within weeks, Carter's compound engineered a new breed of hybrid wolves—calmer, smarter, and fully vegetarian, removing their craving for human flesh. These creatures were designed to be tacticians, not beasts.

Now, just 40 kilometers away, a canine force half a million strong was gathering. In response, the human army—reinforced by hybrid wolves and advanced weaponry—stood ready for the greatest war in history.

But tension still hung heavy.

Because Adolf, their fiercest warrior, remained missing deep within enemy territory.
