Same night~
After my citizen of the year moment, I wait almost half an hour for the next bus. By the time I finally reach home, my cramps are back on full revenge mode and all I want is comfy clothes and a pad change. Urgh.
I unlock the door, slip inside, and shut it fast.
Immediately—thud.
Jiang rushes at me like he's been guarding the door for three hours straight. Which… yeah, he probably has. His eyes are glued to my face, wide and frantic, like I just returned from war.
"You're late," he says. "I calculated your return time eight times."
I kick my shoes off. "Congrats. You still failed."
He grabs my shoulders, scans me head to toe. "Are you hurt? Followed? Kidnapped? Secretly stabbed again?"
"Relax, drama king." I shrug out of my bag. "Just cramps. And evil organization nonsense. And public transport trauma."
He exhales so hard it's like he's deflating. Then—very carefully—he pulls me into a hug, arms wrapping around me like I might vanish again if he blinks.
