Carlos approaches with hesitant steps. As he touches Carolina's shoulder, his hand slides along the curves of her hip down to the leg trapped in the ice-like material. He asks repeatedly what happened. Carolina touches his hair before answering, in a low voice, that she acts like a queen who can no longer bear to watch everyone she loves fall before her.
Carolina's and Aurora's eyes meet. A tension spreads through the room. Dragging her feet across the floor, Aurora questions her intention, and the queen responds directly, stating that the scientist will only be forgiven if she makes the leg into something more evolved.
Carlos steps back, considering the request extremely risky, something that, if it fails, will require the amputation of the leg. Carolina bites her lips and throws a punch at his face.
The man touches his injured cheek. As he listens to the words, his worried expression gradually disappears, giving way to a more serious look.
Under the black glove, he clenches his fingers tightly. The resistant material proves fragile under the pressure of his nails, which tear through it and wound his own palm.
Carolina lowers her arm, looking at the ground uneasily, and apologizes. She walks toward him with trembling hands, holds the man's hands, and squeezes them tightly.
She states that she will not give up on her choice. She says she is a queen and that, regardless of what happens to her, she should never allow anyone to be hurt.
In the background, Aurora makes light emerge from her eyes. A rectangular staircase forms with each step she takes downward. Upon reaching the empty space, she presses a platform with her feet.
Carlos and Carolina watch everything unfold, seeing a machine emerge from the ground. It is something opposite to everything they have ever known as technology. The queen, in a low voice but echoing through the darkness, questions how Pilar manages to do all of that in just a few days. Aurora turns to face her, and the line that could once have been her lips curves slightly upward.
She sits in the chair present and declares that she accepts Carolina's proposal. However, she still needs to add a final touch to her project, herself.
Beside her, a capsule rises, revealing, submerged in a bluish liquid, her true body. Naked, embracing itself. She states that it is a creation of the true Aurora, made in haste, with minimal transfers from the real body to the robotic one, enough to ensure the queen's protection until the transformation is complete.
Carolina descends the stairs beside Carlos. The man questions the necessity of that version of Aurora. She gestures, almost interrupting the movement of her fingers as she realizes a mistake, she needs the fingerprint of the true body to initiate the process.
The general and the queen look at each other. Then, they stare at Aurora's naked body for long seconds. The machine begins to release small fumes through openings in its body and states that it possesses a good part of Aurora's consciousness, showing embarrassment at its nudity being observed.
Both apologize.
With the process completed, the two remove their upper garments to get away from the liquid clinging to their skin. Aurora leans her back against the seat and restrains her own arms, legs, and chest. She warns that, upon initiating the fusion of the bodies, there will be a high accumulation of information, which may result in an explosion.
They agree in silence and walk toward the initialization button. They swallow hard. Carolina presses the button.
At the same instant, they realize that the idea of escaping the explosion is nothing more than a mistake, perhaps something not even Aurora had foreseen.
The white light blinds their eyes. Everything goes dark in a single burst.
The civilians, upon hearing the sound, leave their homes and watch the smoke rise near the kingdom.
In a room, a boy with a wound on his forehead wakes upon hearing a whisper calling Carolina's name. He sees the smoke cover the sky. As he touches the glass with his fingers, a tear runs from his cheek down to his neck.
In the underground, the sound disappears. Amid the darkness and the memories of a destroyed ancient civilization, a body walks toward other buried bodies. Naked, she stretches and, with a voice that blends human and mechanical, laughs in recognition of the man's and the woman's survival. Grateful for the small help, she states that, from that moment on, she is ready to end the war.
