"Don't you think you've got some questions to answer?" Old Dong said.
Fu Shao scoffed. "What is she doing here? I thought she left two years ago," she said in utter disbelief.
Oh wow. Who does she think she is?!
"And why shouldn't I be here? This is my home," Yin said. Jingye was about to speak, but Yin beat him to it.
I stood there losing my nerves. I wished I could do something to her...
"I don't have to answer to you," Fu Shao said, raising her chin arrogantly.
Yin smirked before she began. "Stop pretending, darling. I know everything."
Fu Shao rolled her eyes.
"Are you not surprised by how Mom and Dad are treating me so kindly now? Well, your accomplice Xou Gu told us everything," Yin continued, her voice dripping with confidence.
A moment of pure shock crossed Fu Shao's eyes before she quickly forced a smile. "Xou Gu and I have nothing to do with each other," she said. If you weren't observant, you wouldn't have noticed the edge of nervousness in her voice.
Mrs. Dong opened her mouth to ask what was going on and who told who what, but Jingye-knowing his wife had a plan-distracted his parents and motioned for his mother to keep quiet.
"Are you sure? Because from what she told me, you're the one to blame for everything," Yin added, tapping play on a recording on her phone.
"Xou Gu, if you tell me the truth, your sentence will be reduced by at least three years."
"You wretch, it was all Fu Shao's fault! She gave them to me and had me send them... I swear!"
The second voice was different from the first, but one thing was crystal clear: the first was Yin's, and the second was lower, completely pinning the blame on Fu Shao.
"That bitch!" Fu Shao hissed, snatching her phone out and quickly dialing a number.
Yin's smile faltered for a fraction of a second, but she quickly recovered. "Oh girl, she's behind bars. Her phone was confiscated."
But Fu Shao wasn't backing down. The first call rang once and was abruptly cut off. "Oh, she thinks it's my fault... fine," Fu Shao muttered, dialing a second number.
This time, it went through. Over the line, everyone in the room could hear the harsh clanging of iron hitting iron.
"Don't let her stay on the phone too long, she needs to move!" a background voice cut in.
I was so curious that I suddenly found myself teleported right beside Xou Gu. In reality, she wasn't in prison at all-she was on a movie set playing a criminal! (Remember, she's an actress!)
Taking the phone, Xou Gu spat into the receiver, "I told you not to contact me again! I said everything clearly!"
Before she could say another word, the director's voice bellowed out, "Officer, take her phone. You, get over here!"
And just like that, the call disconnected.
I immediately rushed back to the
Dong mansion.
Thank God I could read minds! If not, I wouldn't have known what that bitch was thinking...
So this recording is real... She's really in prison... I'd better tell the truth... Fu Shao thought before finally speaking.
"It was all her idea, I promise!"
Fu Shao blurted out defensively, desperate to avoid punishment.
"The guy is an actor from her movie set, and she was the one... It's from one of the intimate scenes she filmed, and then we swapped the face with yours! Since she's the adopted daughter, she has more connections with Mrs. Dong and used a private number to send her the photos... I swear, I only helped her edit the face!"
"You see? It isn't that hard to tell the truth," Yin smirked. "If you had just confessed earlier, I wouldn't have gone through all this trouble. You can go. No one will touch you."
Yin gave her a brief, rigid hug that was visibly uncomfortable for Fu Shao. The moment Yin stepped back, Fu Shao bolted out the door.
"I want her taken care of," Yin spat the moment Fu Shao was outside.
Damn, yeah. Everyone was surprised, staring at Yin in stunned silence.
"Well, I know all of you think I knew the truth, but I actually just tricked her. I made a theory and decided to test it," Yin explained.
"If they really had a hand in what happened back then, I knew pulling this off would make one of them confess. The voices in the recording were all mine. I made one using Xou Gu's name too, just in case she was the first one I ran into. As for the prison part, I just got incredibly lucky! But it makes sense-she's probably on set filming a prison scene right now, and it matched my story perfectly."
Wow... Just wow. I was completely speechless.
"Oh, dear, we are so sorry for not trusting you back then," Mrs. Dong said softly. "But how did you know she was visiting today?"
"I sent her pictures of me through a private account and told her that I was back, but I claimed to be a stalker," Yin smiled, clearly proud of her own intelligence. "And soon, Xou Gu will come too," she added.
"My wife is so intelligent and smart that she even managed to fool me," Jingye beamed, pulling her into a warm hug.
"If you two are going to keep flaunting your love like this, you might as well tell us to leave because we don't want to see it," Old Dong complained, taking his wife's hand to leave.
"I would love to stay and see Xou Gu arrive," she smiled.
"Women and gossip," he surrendered, sitting right back down.
Everyone relaxed, exchanging light conversation until heavy, hurried footsteps echoed from the doorway.
Xou Gu paused at the entrance and scanned the room. "What are you still doing here? I thought you left," she barked, her eyes far from friendly.
Jingye pulled his wife closer, ready to defend her if things got out of hand. But Yin gently pulled away and stood up to face her.
"I have something to ask you," Yin said calmly. "Which part did Fu Shao play in the fake pictures you sent to Mother?"
Being an actress, Xou Gu usually knew how to control her facial expressions-or so she thought. But her eyes darted around the room like a cornered rabbit.
"What pictures? I know nothing about them," she stammered.
"I figured you would say that, so I recorded her," Yin said, tapping play on the actual recording of Fu Shao confessing.
This time, Old Dong spoke up. "You recorded that?" he asked, his eyes wide with surprise.
"I figured she would deny everything, so it was best to show her that we already know the truth," Yin smirked.
Xou Gu lunged forward to snatch the phone, but Yin was quick enough to push her back.
"Next time, try doing business with trustworthy people. I offered her five thousand dollars, and she agreed. That's how cheap she thinks your information is worth," Yin said coolly.
"And so what if I did it, huh? You stole my man first!" Xou Gu exploded, trying to claw at Yin's face.
Jingye, who was already on high alert, positioned himself firmly between the two women. Xou Gu's nails dug into his neck, peeling off a bit of skin-just enough to draw blood.
"You look pathetic. I didn't tell you to do business with someone untrustworthy," Yin scoffed, completely unaware of what had just happened to her protector.
Jingye turned his back to face Xou Gu, about to speak, when out of nowhere, a sharp slap echoed through the room. Xou Gu clutched her cheek, her head jerked completely to the side.
"How dare you lay a finger on my man?" Yin asked, each word delivered with a cold precision that sent shivers down everyone's spine.
Yikes... Even I'm scared
Xou Gu swallowed hard, trying to act smug despite her trembling voice. "I... I need to go deal with that traitor," she mumbled, quickly running out the door.
Yin only let out a dismissive scoff. "I've changed my mind. Let them be for now. They'll destroy each other, and if the result isn't what I want, I'll take care of them myself."
