Bly is quiet for a moment as she thinks your reply over. "Maybe you're right," she says. "I hadn't thought of it that way. I'm worried about how Tiva's going to deal with him. What he did broke her heart, and she was finally getting better. The Tiva we knew was just starting to really show for the first time in ages. If Lapu pulls her back into that pit again, I'll make him wish Maker finished the job she started."
"I think Tiva will do the job for you if he goes down that road again."
Bly holds up a hand to quiet you and points toward the road. "Did you see that?" she whispers so low you can barely hear her.
You look down the line of evergreen trees and across the driveway to the main road. Movement! It's subtle enough that you might have missed it on your own, but it's definitely not her imagination. "Is it an animal?" you whisper.
She shakes her head. "At least two people sneaking around across the road." She takes a deep breath, her lupine tongue lolling out the side of her muzzle. Her fur is almost covered by soft white flakes of snow. "That's why we're here, right?" Her lips pull back in a feral grin. "Let's get a closer look."
