This was a premeditated ambush.
The boss risked his life to lure these guys to the ambush point, there's no way he would let them escape so easily.
This is also where the Trauma Team fell into a blind spot of habitual thinking. They naively thought that the mercenaries they encountered each time weren't the same batch, merely hired cannon fodder sent to die, incapable of large-scale coordinated combat.
They even misunderstood the aim of these people, thinking they were just like before, only there to snatch members.
But they could never imagine that these people had been together from the start, and some had even been killed by them twice already, even more surprised that the target of this operation wasn't the members, but them.
