Chapter 6 - the big truth

Scene 2: SCHOOL PROJECT MEETING - LUNCHTIME

In the cafeteria, Vanni and Naitik are assigned to work together on a school project. The teacher announces that they will be paired up with someone from a different class. Vanni's heart sinks when she realizes that Naitik is her partner.

---

Vanni's POV

She watches Naitik, who's busy sketching in his notebook, oblivious to her gaze. She feels a mix of admiration and awkwardness.

Vanni (thinking):

Great. The boy who's too cool for school is my partner... and I can't even say anything without sounding like an idiot.

---

Scene 3: Vanni's HOME - EVENING

Vanni walks into her house, still deep in thought about the project. Her mother, Mrs. Sharma, is in the kitchen, preparing dinner.

Mrs. Sharma:

(excitedly) "Vanni, I have some exciting news. Your aunt and uncle are coming over tomorrow, and they're bringing their old friends!"

Vanni (looking confused):

"Uh, okay? Who are these friends?"

Mrs. Sharma:

"Remember my best friend from college? They have a son, Naitik. You might know him from school!"

Vanni's eyes widen. The name sounds familiar but it doesn't click immediately.

---

Scene 4: Naitik's HOME - EVENING

Meanwhile, Naitik's parents are also preparing for the same dinner. Naitik's father, Mr. Kumar, is on the phone, casually chatting with Mrs. Sharma.

Mr. Kumar (laughing on the phone):

"Oh, we haven't seen them in years! Naitik and Vanni will be so surprised when they meet. We've kept it a secret all these years."

---

Scene 5: THE BIG REVEAL - DINNER TIME

INT. SHARMA FAMILY LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

Vanni and her mother walk into the living room, and her eyes widen when she sees Naitik sitting with his parents. Both teens freeze, realizing they're sitting across from each other, but neither knows how to react.

Mrs. Sharma (cheerfully):

"Oh, look! Vanni, meet Naitik, our childhood friend's son. I bet you two will get along great!"

Vanni's mind is racing. She's taken aback by the realization that Naitik is her mother's best friend's son—her mother has been hiding this huge connection all along. Naitik seems equally stunned but tries to play it cool.

Naitik (awkwardly):

"So, uh... your mom didn't mention this either?"

Vanni:

(laughing nervously) "I guess not. This is... surprising."

The families laugh, clearly enjoying the awkwardness. The teens' discomfort only grows as their parents start reminiscing about old memories, making everything feel even more bizarre.

---

Scene 6: THE AWKWARD CONVERSATION - LATER THAT NIGHT

The two teens find themselves alone, standing near the kitchen.

Vanni:

(laughing, trying to break the ice) "So... your parents are basically the ones who set us up without us even knowing."

Naitik:

"Seems like it. Kind of weird, right? They didn't even tell us."

The air is thick with tension and curiosity, yet there's a playful energy between them. They keep glancing at each other, unsure if the other is as shocked as they are.

Vanni:

(suddenly serious) "How long have they known each other, anyway?"

Naitik (thinking for a moment):

"Forever, I guess. My parents have never mentioned you before."

---

Scene 7: THE CLIMAX - MOMENT OF REALIZATION

The night continues with more awkwardness and funny situations, but as the evening winds down, one of their parents jokingly says:

Mr. Kumar (playfully):

"Well, maybe one day you two will be family!"

Vanni and Naitik both choke on their drinks, completely caught off guard.
