Chapter 22 - Chapter 9, Camping (Part 1)_3

The knight profession is the epitome of the Lawful Faction, ranging from the Paladins of the Good Faction to the Black Knights of the Evil Faction. Regardless of the type of knight, they all lean towards order.

But mercenaries are different. Some fight to protect what they love, while others will raise their blades against anyone purely for profit. Yet, they all exist within the Chaotic Faction, inherently in opposition to knights.

Laine doesn't have much fondness for the mercenary profession either. In many web novels of his past life, mercenaries were icons of bravery, kindness, and wisdom, but since arriving in this world, he's seen more of greed, foolishness, and conflict.

The vast majority of mercenaries are willing to do anything for money.

Laine took two cuts of venison and a deer leg and headed towards his tent. But before he even reached the tent entrance, Teresa, wrapped in a white fox fur coat, lifted the tent flap. Seeing Laine with raw items, the female sorcerer frowned, "I thought you already cooked them."

"??? You knew I was back?" The Kingdom Knight was puzzled. He took out a pot, set it over the fire, and began preparing to cook.

"Wasn't it Banda who called me?" Teresa sat tightly wrapped in her white coat across from Laine, her mature and beautiful face exposed. The winters in Nord were really too cold. Normally, the female sorcerer could use spells to shield herself from the environment, but now she was very weak.

"Banda?" Laine remained bewildered. The two stared at each other in odd confusion for ten seconds before the Kingdom Knight suddenly realized, chuckling, "Looks like another young lad has fallen at the feet of Lady Trovik. Perhaps with just one look from you, he'd be willing to die for you. I can only congratulate you on gaining another suitor."

"I don't want to argue with you, Laine." The female sorcerer said coldly.

"Alright, alright, you certainly possess that heart-stirring beauty, which is unquestionable." Laine cut the venison into small pieces, put them into the pot, and added various seasonings and wild vegetables. He intended to make a venison and wild vegetable soup.

"Has all your years of wandering only taught you sweet words for women and decent cooking skills?" Despite Laine's unnoticeable flattery, Teresa had to admit this man could indeed talk, and her tone softened considerably.

"No, the years of wandering taught me much more. If there's a chance, I'll tell you what I've encountered over these years." Laine stirred the ingredients in the pot with a spoon, and the aroma wafted out, tantalizing one's taste buds.

"Why are there so many people who fancy themselves as the main character in the story? An ordinary tier mercenary?" The female sorcerer said sullenly, sniffing the enticing smell from the pot.

"You're saying that now, but weren't you the same back then? I remember our first meeting; you didn't even spare me a glance, just saw me as a lucky little kid." Laine retorted, remembering that when they first met, Teresa spoke to him with the same aloof attitude.

"Alright, the most pressing issue now is, what do we do about Belte? My Mana is depleted, and I can no longer use magic to pursue him." The female sorcerer's cheeks blushed, glowing with peerless beauty, as she proactively changed the subject.

"Let's eat first. After the meal, we'll discuss in detail what to do."

"Alright."
