Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Furious Bai Zhenyang

"Xiaozhou, how about you say sorry? After all, as Miss Bai's friend, it's impossible to do such a thing. There must be some misunderstanding here."

Director He was drenched in sweat; he couldn't afford to offend either side, so he clung to a hopeful chance and tried to persuade Zhou Yan.

"Apologize?" Zhou Yan felt extremely aggrieved. She hadn't done anything to Lin Xi all day, yet her own reputation was almost destroyed.

Why does she have to be the one to say sorry in the end?

The more she thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt. But the director had always taken good care of her, and she didn't want to see him struggle or even lose his job. Who knows what kind of nasty things that scumbag might do?

Nowadays, some wealthy kids are outwardly friendly with you but secretly send people to destroy you.

If Lin Xi knew what Zhou Yan was thinking, he would be speechless. Which rich kid do you see dressed like me? You're misunderstanding!

"Sorry!" Zhou Yan's eyes were blazing, and if the director weren't there, she'd wish she could shoot Lin Xi.

Clearly, she had grown to hate Lin Xi to the bone.

As soon as she spoke, Zhou Yan turned and slammed the door, not looking back or paying attention to anyone. She left them to do whatever they wanted.

"It's fine, I'm magnanimous!" Lin Xi suppressed his laughter, unable to resist replying.

Bam!

Zhou Yan stumbled outside and tripped over some clutter, muttering, "Damned scumbag, don't let me get my hands on you next time!"

Soon, a red Ferrari stopped outside the police station, and a long-legged beauty with a fitted dress stepped out. Her exquisite face showed a faint trace of concern.

"Lin Xi, are you okay?"

Once inside the police station, she saw Lin Xi sitting there and couldn't help but ask.

"I'm fine." Lin Xi curiously sized up Bai Bing, not understanding why she had come.

Director He immediately stood up, "Hello, hello, I am He Tianming, you must be Miss Bai Bai Bing."

"Yes, I am."

Upon hearing that Lin Xi was fine, Bai Bing felt relieved. She looked at Director He and replied, "You must be Director He, I've long heard about you. Director Yan always praises you for putting great effort into maintaining security here."

"It's all thanks to Director Yan's guidance, and it's part of my responsibilities." Director He, skilled at reading people, noticed Bai Bing's slightly anxious expression and swiftly summarized,

"Today's events were all a misunderstanding. We wholeheartedly apologize to your friend on behalf of the institute. Miss Bai, would you like to take Lin Xi back first?"

Zhou Yan secretly praised Director He's perceptiveness and showed a hint of gratitude in her eyes, "Then I won't disturb you any further, Lin Xi, let's go."

"Okay."

With a tinge of confusion, Lin Xi followed Bai Bing out of the police station.

After getting into the car, Bai Bing sped off, running several red lights.

With no outsiders present, Bai Bing's worry was even more apparent from the driver's seat. She occasionally glanced at Lin Xi, harboring a bit of hope.

"My grandfather's condition has worsened, and I'm not sure he can pull through this time."

"It's all my fault. If I'd agreed to the marriage, he wouldn't have gotten so angry, worsening his condition, and now he's even unconscious."

"Haven't you found a doctor yet?" Lin Xi had heard about her grandfather's situation before but didn't think much of it. As people age, their immune systems weaken, and naturally, health issues worsen.

"We did find one, the most renowned traditional medicine expert in the city, but he can't do much. They can only maintain life with medication."

"So you came to find me? You trust me that much?" Lin Xi asked.

"Yes, I feel you're an excellent traditional medicine practitioner, so..."

Lin Xi frowned slightly, thinking, "Feelings..., so she's holding on to a glimmer of hope..."

Is this a woman's intuition?

"But you're right, I am indeed a skilled traditional medicine practitioner, an extremely skilled one. Besides the old man, probably no one can surpass me."

This was Lin Xi's confidence in his medical skills.

Although he hadn't made much of a name domestically, overseas, even the most advanced medical skills couldn't compare to his.

Bai Bing rolled her eyes at Lin Xi. Who boasts shamelessly like that?

Doesn't he know the world is vast and there are always others better than you?

This was clearly arrogance, and the little bit of hope she had diminished further.

"But." Lin Xi continued.

"But what?" Bai Bing asked.

"Birth, aging, illness, and death are human norms; I can only do my best." Lin Xi wasn't a deity and couldn't defy natural law.

"Of course."

Half an hour later, Bai Bing and Lin Xi walked into an ancient-looking villa.

Though the villa was traditional, its flowers and plants were trimmed with a modern artistic touch; the few decorations were selective and tasteful, refined yet understated.

You can tell from the outside; the owner of this villa is no ordinary person.

Throughout the villa were dozens of black-clad bodyguards, their expressions tense, scanning their surroundings.

Walking through the villa's hall, Lin Xi noticed no less than five bodyguards carefully scrutinizing him. But seeing Bai Bing leading him, they refrained from questioning.

To ordinary people, these men might seem competent, but in his eyes, they were no more than tiny bugs, so Lin Xi didn't care.

There weren't many people in the hall, totaling four; Bai Bing had mentioned this to Lin Xi before.

The middle-aged man with stubble was undoubtedly Bai Zhenyang, Bai Bing's father, who seemed anxious, pacing back and forth.

Sitting on a couch nearby was *****, whose expression bore some resemblance to Bai Bing's, clearly Bai Bing's mother, Yu Cheng.

The remaining two men looked in their late twenties and early twenties; the older one probably was Bai Bing's fiancé, Chen Bainan, and the younger one her brother, Bai Xingye.

"Where did you go? Your grandfather ended up like this because of you, and you're still running around! Did your conscience get eaten by a dog?" As soon as Bai Zhenyang saw Bai Bing bringing Lin Xi in, he angrily shouted.

"Zhenyang, why are you scolding Xiaobing? She didn't do it intentionally." Yu Cheng stood up, heading toward Bai Bing, while curiously glancing to ask,

"Who is this?"

"Mom, this is a friend of mine, he's quite skilled in medicine, and I asked him to look at grandpa." Bai Bing wasn't sure how good Lin Xi's medical skills truly were but had to speak with forced conviction.

"A doctor?" Yu Cheng was momentarily shocked; the young man in front seemed decent-looking but was so young and dressed terribly. This naturally made her skeptical.

Though she trusted her daughter and knew her well, she couldn't help but worry about her being deceived.

"You can't just bring anyone into the home, let alone a doctor. I think you were duped!" Bai Zhenyang showed no mercy, scolding without hesitation.

"If your grandfather trusted you so much, giving you an entire company to manage, look at you now, bringing all kinds of friends back home."

"Dad, that's not what you think, Lin Xi's medical skills are really good..." Although she harbored mere hopes for Lin Xi, in this situation, she had to muster courage and talk about how extraordinary Lin Xi was.

"Uncle Bai, Xiaobing's friend may look young and dress poorly, but he might truly be a doctor. You don't trust Xiaobing's friend, but you should still give Xiaobing a chance."

Since they came in, Chen Bainan hadn't looked pleased; it turned out Bai Bing was hurriedly bringing in someone looking like a migrant worker.
