He—the leader of the Night Watchers, the Savior appointed by the world, the newly risen God—Kana.
Thus, surrounded by the pillar of light, he hovered above the Light Torch, overlooking the multitude below trapped in absolute silence.
This was Kana's first true descent in the form of a god.
It was also the first time he revealed himself as a god.
When Kana no longer hides, when Kana is no longer restrained.
All life will come to know the boundary between the mortal and the divine, the gap between them.
He spoke slowly, his voice not loud, yet it imprinted clearly like the first sound of heaven and earth in every creature's deepest soul:
"Death is not the end."
"Forgetfulness is."
"Here to declare..."
"All heroic spirits who sleep to protect the light..."
"All warriors willing to bear darkness for all beings..."
"Life and death..."
"Neither cycle nor are they the end."
"This torch is the door."
"This city is the witness."
"In the name of the Savior"
