"Xiaoxiao, Xiaoxiao..."
The soft calling sound reached Zhang Xiaoxiao's eardrums.
Last night, she stayed up late to comfort the worried and frightened Yao Henan. Now she was sleeping soundly; however, this voice was ingrained in her subconscious as a high-alert sound.
As soon as she heard it, Zhang Xiaoxiao instantly regained her senses and jumped out of bed, anxiously asking, "Nannan, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
"Xiaoxiao, I'm not unwell. Your phone has been ringing."
Only then did Zhang Xiaoxiao notice the phone on the table nearby was vibrating continuously.
She picked up the phone and saw that the caller ID displayed an unfamiliar landline number.
"Hello, who are you looking for?"
Feeling a bit annoyed that the call had woken Yao Henan, Zhang Xiaoxiao's voice was rather unfriendly.
"This is a call from Binhai Detention Center. The suspect, Yao Jishun, wants to say a few words to his daughter."
