Suddenly, the wind shifted and a haunting melody played out.
Then from the shadows beyond the sea mist, hundreds of small, dark vessels emerged like ghost ships.
Silent and swift, they sliced through the water without making a sound.
Shirley's expression tensed. "Another fleet?"
Igaris narrowed his eyes. "Yed. But they are different."
In the next instant, the air turned cold. A suffocating presence descended across the battlefield like a sheet of black silk.
Then it began.
"Squelch, Thud. Squelch, thud."
One by one, Igaris' soldiers started falling. Some combusted from within, their internal organs pierced by invisible blades. Others were simply sliced apart in mid-step, never seeing their attackers.
Screams erupted among the newly recruited officers. The beast units roared in confusion. Even the undead staggered, swiping at shadows that vanished before contact.
